Downloading games without ARC

Since it is fairly new and maybe contributing to my STO login failures, is there anyway to download the game without the unnecessary Arc interface?

From the experiences of myself and some friends, if the version from the website here isn't working, try the steam version, it works perfectly

Download it through Steam.

Why & how can they be so anal about arc, I will never play any of their other games so it is completely unnecessary for me to need it, & steam is the same, unwanted & unneeded.

To force people to have it is fascist,

1) get the game through steam
2) go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Star Trek Online and create a shortcut to Star Trek Online.exe on desktop.
3) run the game through that shortcut.
4) no arc, no steam, nothing else needed. just the generic sto launcher.

you'll need steam to install it, but after that launching doesn't require steam, and arc is only useful for redeeming codes.
