So I just played the Breach in my Fleet Vo'Quv carrier...
What an annoying experience.
Between unavoidable AOEs that nearly one-shot my hangar pets, to narrow corridors that stretch on forever, it was terrible. The turns were smaller than my Vo'Quv's turning radius, so I actually had to pull 3 point turns in a couple places.
Then the very end gives you 45 seconds to get back out? How the hell is that expected to happen? It takes that long just to pull a U-turn in my boat.
Terrible design. Terrible first impression of Season 8.
Its not a bad design just because you pay a penalty for bringing a tank. Small ships can fly around easier and also die easier, then you will QQ about that too?
I brought my Oddy. And i did just fine. Also FAW boats for the beginning win. I was zipping around like nobodies business, but then again i have consoles from the mine for resists and +turn.....
Inertia just means you can do Powerslides in you carrier!

I think a lot of you are missing my point. It's got nothing to do with weapons or survivability.
It's got everything to do with maneuverability. I'm used to having a big slow tank that measures turning radius in planets- That doesn't bother me. What bugs me is that it seems the devs didn't even try it in anything but a ship that can turn.
I couldn't keep up with anybody, so I couldn't contribute. I might as well have been an AFKer. At least previous STFs are wide open so you can make those wide turns, and they're small enough that you don't have to use full impulse at every turn (literally).
And the end is an automatic insta-kill if your ship is too slow. Insta-kills are stupid, not challenging.
You guys have to realize you drive a semi-truck. WIIIIIDE turns, you see aturn coming move to the other side and begin you turn AHEAD of time.
Exactly the problem- narrow passageways and slow, wide turns don't get along. By the time you round one corner, the rest of the group has cleared the objective and have moved on.
Oddy loaded to the nines with beams and FAW. FTW! Hell I got the old oddy from the 2 year give away and it works just fine.

Breach totally favors A2B FAW spamming. Next up would be anything else. Regardless, the mission is too long and the "atmospheric friction" is annoying when out of the jet streams.

Again. Nothing to do with weapons. Another one missing the entire point of the thread.
The Tor'kaht is a nice maneuverable battle cruiser and I still use reverse/evasive to spin the bow around faster. I didn't run the Bortas for that mission because I watched a vid of it before I played and realized it would be more of a headache than I wanted to deal with. The right tools for the right job. For some missions, a carrier/space whale isn't an ideal choice.

The sphere missions in general favour cruiser and science. With Escorts you hit hard, but it is hard to stay on target with defensive cloaking.
Broadsiding, BFAW and science abilities take the Voth out before you can spell their name.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

had it been me in a vo'quv, i would of dialed down the speed at full impulse enough to make the turn by heading toward the outside heading toward the turn and turning a bit before the turn came up and trying to say as close as possible to the wall your looking for but turning again before the turn if possible to make it around. used to play a lot of sim racing games in the day, so at least something translates to MMO's amazingly. in sim racing games this type of hard wide turning is usually a result of heavy understeer and theb est way around it is using as much of the track as possible and early enough where it can be countered enough.
T6 Miranda Hero Ship FTW. Been around since Dec 2010 on STO and bought LTS in Apr 2013 for STO.
I'm in a GD Jem Dread and I can maneuver just fine.
You just have to slow down in the turns. Heck, after my first run I've made it out every time while the smaller more nimble ships slam into and get stuck on the interior walls.
Basically, don't play like a lunatic and you're golden.
Honestly, the hardest part I've seen is, people can't figure out which way is the exit. That's the only reason the oddy in my last group got blown up: went the wrong way initially despite me yelling "BOTTOM WEST" into TeamSpeak. Poor TRIBBLE was like two seconds too late.

I took my Oddy in with Chevron Separation. I did just fine, as well.

That was almost me. Didnt know which way to go, ended up making it out with just 0.01 left on the timer...

I have an Oddy, too. It can turn circles around the Vo'Quv. It's sort of a bad example.
While that is true, it just made invalid your "escort or GTFO" statement from your title
In every place,

And I'm sure the devs still wonder why the Bortas sold so poorly...

A scimitar is a bad idea in general.
Say that to my Cannons.

They can just do a better job of taking out the hard points along the hull, and even the turret points.
Escorts come into their own in the other phases, especially when saving the ships...
