Yeah im kind of annoyed with the fact they said they were gonna fix it right away, in that it was NEVER supposed to come onto holodeck in the first place.
And 7 weeks later, still there
Im pretty sure this is also the cause of the graphics glitch people are getting. It just makes sense. Reloading files or whatever, textures not applying
Seems legit to me.
So whats the story Cryptic?

The only thing i see really dumb is the need to wait sometimes 1 minute until the screen is loaded. In the year 2013, this is really annoying.
The impression I have is that the one-minute wait from startup to rendering is if you don't have an up-to-date shaderCache.hogg. I'm figuring, based on the errors that used to be produced with the DX11 beta client, that the game has to recompile the shaders (which is what "materials" more-or-less actually are, since if you don't assign a shader to a material, it simply won't render) at run-time before storing them in shaderCache.hogg, hence the minute-long wait before everything loads properly (you can reproduce this by deleting your shaderCache.hogg (in the "Star Trek Online\Live\cache" directory)).
The constant "Material files reloaded" message is just a harmless debug message that they haven't shut off, probably because they likely want to know with each subsequent recompile and load (in production) that everything's still working fine.

Please make it go away.

EDIT: Relevant :P.
Glad I found this thread before making a new one. :P
Just patched and played STO again for the first time in a few months, and I have the same issue;
"Material files reloaded"
keeps popping up at the bottom of screen.
Now to decide if I should go with DX 11 or DX 9ex..
Just ignore it. It won't effect gameplay as branflakes as said on page 2
Yeah, I've been playing a bit now and don't notice it (much) anymore.
Hope they fix soon(tm) though.
Actually I have noticed it has started becoming less frequent, or I have become use to it I tend not to notice it as much.
