Am I the only one annoyed with everyone complaining

You know how if a person doesn't go to the toilet all of the bad stuff inside builds up until they die? Complaining is the geek's mental bowel movement.

    2. As my experience shows me (and I just might be very unlucky) Star Trek Fans (real Fans not just people with some interest) are ironically the most ignorant, aggressive, close-minded, self-centered, flagellantic and zealous people around as I lamented in a previous post of mine in one of those "Dinos?! Seriously?!"-Threads which promotes this "You have to listen to ONLY ME! You have to answer to MY POST immediately and better say YES or I drag you down into the mud!" we see so often here and even in this thread as most people still confuse "to listen" with "do everything I say".

It's rather funny if not ironic how you managed to put your observation of the fallacies of ST fans and then put all Star Trek fans in a single bucket, all in the same sentence.

I for one am still surprised that there are still people (not just Cryptic or PWE) in this world that dare to get involved with this Combination (Star Trek & Gaming), I would have quit long ago, no money in the world would be worth the psychological damage that is to suffer when being exposed to us for to long.

I think you underestimate the amount of money those "ignorant, aggressive, close-minded, self-centered, flagellantic and zealous people" are willing to spend on their hoby/passion.
STO is actually a very good example for this.

As I said... this is my experience and to this day there was no one, especially not here, that proved me wrong in this assessment, you can try, I would be glad to be proven wrong!

Oh no, we can spit out tons of money, I know that but none of that is worth it if I end up in an asylum afterwards.

I've said this before, but I liken forums in general to the gutter press.

Streams of rubbish from a mere handful of the majority of players, venting rage, marshalling the torches and pitchforks or simply arguing with each other over problems, issues, hacks, buffs, nerfs and so on. Some are big, some are small, most are pointless to even mention yet people do.

But it is fun to read, entertaining to get involved in and I'd rather all the poison was spit around in here than in the game itself...or rather beyond ESD.

You love it, be honest now, you know you do :D

Ever heard the expression pot calling the kettle?

I ask this, due to your temper tantrum post here, attacking people for expressing their views.

Now, take a chill pill and come back after puberty, you will feel better, k ;)

Lol... The OP called it. He said this thread would be Rage Troll bait. They just couldent resist.
That guy was like: "I'm mad...Someone said that people complain to much. That makes me mad cuz I hate everything and Cryptic is Evil and anyone that dosent hate this game also makes me mad. I'm going to reply on this thread cuz I'm mad that the OP is not mad so I have to attack him...But wait everythign he said kinda made since!?!?!?...Oh well I have to attack anyway cuz I'm mad at everything and I hate everyone and everything and Mom wont give me her credit card to buy more Zen and the game wont let me have a Nude mod on my female captian".

I have to agree... Theres one dev I am not missing in particular, but the others were a real benefit to the communications between the players and the developers.

And the irony is that the dev that (seemingly) triggered the shut-up, actually just made a minor slip... nothing too serious, and he wasn't even in a position to make a clear statement on said topic (wich he didn btw).
It was almost as if PWE were just waiting for such a slipup, to shut communications down.

These days, it really just serves to promote people to be dis-satisfied, and not getting anything from Cryptic to put their mind at ease or at least make people understand the hows and whys.

But that of cause still doesn't allow (in my world) for randomness... Either you support complaints with strong arguments, or you don't complain.

Do you think that PWE told them that they cannot casualy post on the forums anymore?
Or is it more that whenever they start a discussion it very quickly degraded into a troll fest? For example Brandon (I think) last week asked a question about ship names and hull numbers and within one page it turned into an argument about airforce one and he just closed the thread. Seems like when they do chime in the rage Trolls just pounce on them. After a few times I would stop reading and posting on the Forums too if I were them.

Complaints and being angry at stuff is fine. The game is F2P but folks still need to be treated like paying customers, i.e. Right to complain, etc, rather than 'if you don't like the free stuff, go elsewhere'. Like has been said elsewhere, constructive complaining/criticizing is one thing, raging/ranting is quite another.

That said, it is also absolutely over the line to insult, threaten, etc the folks who provide us with the game. Especially in their place of work. There's a lot to be said for the patience, restraint and professionalism of the team sometimes.
    "So my fun is wrong?"

No. Your fun makes everyone else's fun wrong by default.

Wait -- that sounds like the DOOMED thread. Why are there two threads essentially about the same thing? Because one is sarcasm, and one isn't, I guess.

I have a question, where does the idea of people complaining about complainers being labeled as complainers end? Does that mean if someone complains about complainers complaining about complainers than they are complainers? and if so wouldn't the people who complain about complainers complaining about complainers who complain about complainers also be complainers? In which case those people would also be complainers for complaining about complainers who complain about complainers that complain about the complainers who complain about complainers who complain? I guess that means the entire population of STO are complainers about something

wow useless generic thread.. so are you complaining about the flaming complainers, or about the people who have constructive criticism? cause the last I checked, when something is broken, and hasn't been fixed for three years or more, I would say complaining is valid in that case..

I will agree that people need to tone it down. no one ever responds well to gimme gimme gimme, now now now, and you suck because of this or that.. however, addressing the problem in a respectfull way, will have more of a chance of actually getting the desired response..

I am a lead singer in a band.. there are nights when people come up to me and say, wow, I could have done better or blah blah blah.. I generally look at these people as drunks who have no clue what they are talking about..

however, when someone who is speaking a lick of musical language comes up and says, hey, awesome, but at this point in the song you could really ease back on the mic and not overpower the band, well, I take that, and use it.. I am more open to constructive criticism, than I am blatent flaming, and malice..

Yeah, this forum is so toxic. I have almost totally stopped coming here because of how toxic it is.

It used to be much, much worse. Around the time of F2P coming out, a good third of the threads were focused on how evil Cryptic was or how the game was going to die.

It's only fairly recently, as some of the people who have been particularly vitriolic have gotten bored of the new content, that this sort of posting seems to be becoming common again. It also seems that they're often going on about how "this time it's DIFFERENT" that the servers aren't quite as jam packed as they were during the launch of LoR.

I personally predict that it's going to reach a higher pitch as season 8 comes out, and then will wane considerably as people realize blasting a t-rex to death isn't so bad after all.

As a note, I do realize some complainers do have valid complaints. I'm one of them. But there's a difference between stating that there's something wrong and you want it fixed and you're sick of it being ignored, and lamenting that the game is a self-destructing time bomb that oozes evil from every pore, and that it is so un-Star Trekly that its very existence invalidates all things even vaguely related to Star Trek.
