STO is unplayable for me since yesterday evening. Maybe earlier. Got in from US NY Trick-or-Treating. Fired up STO ... disconnect, disconnect, disconnect! Can stay connected for any longer than 2 minutes. Nothing helped, change of location, change of character. Full file check. Went to bed frustrated.
This morning ... more of the same. None of my other internet programs or games are similarly effected. I know it's easy to "blame" the user but I'm not swallowing that B$ today. Something on Cryptic's side has changed. Either with my files or with my connection to their servers.
Ideas? I'm all for playing ... for occasionally paying ... but for this disconnect B$, I'm beside myself.
I endured the same thing yesterday. Completely disconnected from the server at least three times throughout the course of the day. And virtually every time I would transition from one instance to another (during the loading screens) I would get a red-lettered 'server not responding' countdown. Saw 'server not responding' at least ten times throughout yesterday afternoon and evening. First time this has ever happened to me with such frequency too.

Cryptic, I don't expect any specific reply on your behalf but over the time I've enjoyed STO I've seen time after time where changes in the game, either patches or hardware maintenance or whatnot, have led to an increase in post about disconnects and connection instability.
All I ask is the confidence you're looking into this. My hope is in a day or so my usual playing experience will be restored to its confidently connected norm.
...talking to players is like being a mall Santa. Everyone immediately wants to tell you all of the things they want, and you are absolutely powerless to deliver 99% of them.
As this will at least inform Cryptic/PWE what links are having issues so they can talk to Cogent, their Internet backbone provider to try to get them fixed...
Just wanted to add that it was absolutely smooth sailing for about two hours for me, earlier this afternoon. No 'server not responding', no disconnects, nada. I suspect a few of us might simply have gotten the short end of the stick of all the likely server busy busy, in light of the new FE, mission replays and the free lobi. Pretty great day for STO yesterday, those connection hiccups aside. Logging in again in a wee bit and got my fingers crossed that it'll be equally as smooth as this afternoon's game session.

If you don't have the problem that doesn't mean no one has it ! And second why are you posting unproductive posts if you don't have any problem anyway?
Well, the finger-crossing thing didn't work at all last night, despite yesterday afternoon's smooth sailing. By evening time it was constant 'server not responding' whilst replaying 'Of Bajor' (of all episodes!) and I experienced about three or four disconnects. Never had connection problems with this kind of frequency until this last patch.

Thank you!!!
Maybe Cryptic is preparing us for the new season...we must get used to server issues
It would be useful if everyone who is having connect problems use the 'Net Test' and 'Trace Route' diagnostics described in this thread... http://sto-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?t=225155
... and post the results in the Network section of the PWE Tech Support site... http://techsupport.perfectworld.com/
