Thanks for the feedback, Captains. I will be sure to pass it along as it is important to us. I did want to add a side-note that's not listed in the blog: Our upcoming FE replay event is introducing a new way to earn Lobi, and if my calculations are correct, you should be able to earn over 500 Lobi Crystals from the event if you play daily. More details on that will be posted tomorrow.

That won't get you to 800, but it will help :)

    Cheers,

    Brandon =/\=
Have yet to see any sign of "a new way to earn Lobi."

Funny I don't recall this ship saying it was for fed players only....hmmmm

What I meant was the Obelisk is better than the voquv - in terms of the free ship selection, the kdf had the superior dual hangar carrier of all factions - now however, it has been superceded, thus in effect has lost its dominance in this class of ship, ie losing it

...In other words, the feds have directly benefitted from the global availability of the ship as they now have a more than ample 2 hangar carrier to utillise but I digress, my comment was merely upon losing yet another unique facet of the kdf, its unique two hangar -free- carrier
What I think the OP means is that by making a "free" (i.e. non-Z-store, non-lockbox, non-fleet) heavy carrier available to Federation players, it means that the KDF no longer have a monopoly on "free" heavy carriers, which thus detracts from the uniqueness of the KDF ship lineup.

    Precisely what I meant

They are a part of the fleet spire, Tier 3 I think but not certain on that.
For those that don't know, until you get those Elite Swarmers, you can get free Advanced Swarmers in the Sphere of Influence mission. They are a special prize that unlocks after you get a certain Accolade in the mission (Hint: And then you have to go back and fine a "Hidden Compartment").

So let me understand this correctly. Eight guys ( 4 fed + 4 K.D.F. ), times the price of up grading eight ships with the console that you need to get the thing to work right. Equals not worth the waste of money to do + cold day in hell. Good one perfect world entertainment. Better luck next time. I am not going to waste my money on that . Real money or video game money. Even if I had an excess of 6400 Lobi crystals tokens to hand in for something . I would not be pissing them away on something like that . That's a lot of good consoles that can be used with every ship not just one free boat. If you are not making enough money with this game. You will have to come up with a better idea then this . This one belongs in the trash with that summer thing you ran that cut short and left unfinished projects taking up space in the rep system menu.

So let me get this straight, people are whining about a so so boat that's not mandatory for anything in game ? Ha ha ha ha ha . Get a grip. Cryptic just hired an A+ voice / Actor for the amusement of Star Trek fans and ya'll are pitching a fit about lob crystals, which you get outta those lock boxes ? I don't get it. I have issues with some of cyptics methods, but overall I love this game! ( still need more missions for shuttles dangit ), but then again I'm a Star Trek fan boy since well I saw the animated show and tos and tng years and years ago! Take a breath folks and be thank full theres a company who produces Trek related stuff instead of going the way of star wars galaxy/ knights of the old republic
So thank you Cryptic for putting out fresh content and free stuff!

I'm pretty sure Cryptic continues to make money. It's why they can offer this game, and all it's content, to all players, for FREE!!!

Why oh why didn't you just put it in the cstore for 2500 zen?
No, now we have to put endless amounts of cash into gambling for it.
    Honourless k'pekts.

Because Cryptic's business model includes multiple sources of income including the C-Store, Lock Boxes, Lobi Store, and the Dilithium/Zen exchange. To keep revenue streams fresh, they rotate through them. For example, we recently had a ship in the C-Store (Avenger), now this in the Lobi store, and coming here real soon we'll have a new Lock Box, and so on...

Cryptic is not a charity. They are a capitalistic business, and this model is how they feel they can best earn money.

    Nah...

    1) You don't HAVE to do anything. If you feel the desire to play this game and then further to get the completely unnecessary (though, certainly cool) Advanced Obelisk, then that is your choice. You are not required or forced to do so in any way.

    2) Even if you do choose to gamble, you don't have to spend endless amounts of cash. You're guaranteed a minimum of 4 Lobi per box, meaning that's at most 200 boxes worth. Expensive? Sure, but not "endless" :P

    3) You can earn over 500 Lobi for FREE over this next month via this promotion, going on NOW:
    http://sto-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?t=899051
That brings your max boxes down to about 75.

    4) The Lockboxes, Keys, and even the Advanced Obelisk ship are all available in-game for FREE. With some effort you can earn them via Dilithium and/or Energy Credits.

So another method other than real money.

Yeah because there is no way they could have got the viruses any other method. /rolleyes

BTW the links don't actually say they got viruses.

For example the first one talks about XVID and FLV blaster. There are virus versions out there, true. There are also very legitimate versions.

The second one claims that is where they got it, who knows where he actually got the virus.

And yes some of the "bar" installations are basically spyware on your browsing history. I

Which is why I never install anyting, nor did I say do offers which you have to give out credit care information, which leads to the bigger point.

I said SURVEYS. Not installing things. Not buying things, but just question answer surveys.

Try to stick to the actually point someone suggests next time.

    The free carrier is fantastic!
Engineer oriented fills the hole since there is already sci and tact carriers.

Best free reward so far IMO, and didn't need to run 30 or so times to get it like the winter event. And good new type of hanger fighters.

Perfectly useable with 9 console slots. For people who want the very best, they can pay for the 10 console version. No complaints from me. :D

Now looking forward to a 2 hangar Romulan carrier with battle cloak. :)

    Well played Cryptic, well played.

Ha ha. So true. But I think they did this actually, of the draining of accounts, with the previous Lobi sale of items the fans choose. We all fell for it.

I got my new Advanced Obelisk Carriers and I'm already satisfied with it even though I'm not even close to calling it "finished"... My Fed Engie has the 3pc Obelisk tech set, a couple fleet consoles from his old ship, an Aegis set, Advanced Swarmers, and for weapons besides the AP 360' Beam and one Rare Mk XI Beam Array, I've got four stock common Mk X AP weapons... And I'd also forgot to set up my LtC Sci Pwr...

Anyway, as a quick trial, I took it for it's first combat mission this morning: A PUG ISE run from the PvE Queue. I ended up with another Obelisk (Basic or Adv, I don't know) two Khnial beam boats, and some version of a Defiant-class Escort. It wasn't the fastest ISE I'd been on, but with good teamwork nobody died, we got the Optional, and got done overall in a reasonable time.

Even with such a "basic" build, the Obe was a fun ship to fly. Tanked really well. I love the Swarmers and the Reactive Antiproton Cascade Emitter.

Looks awesome too. Great ship Cryptic, thanks!

The events' descrption "..15 Lobi per Account..." as worded, suggests the flow of Lobi to players is curtailed, not expanded. Please explain your reasoning as I, for one, fail to see your logic.

    Addendum:
The Obelisk certainly seems like a nice ship and i look forward to getting it for as many of my 30 chars as i can. But i have a 40-50 hr work week, need 6hrs sleep a night and have my part of maintaining the house so my 'free' time is ltd.

15 Lobi per account, per 20 hour cooldown, adds up. Compared to the old "Scavenger Hunt Accolade" where you could get 15 or 20 maximum and that was it, the expansion should be pretty obvious.

When Cryptic puts something in the Lobi store, they expect each one to cost more than twenty-five dollars.

Hmn. So character 1 on the account does a FE and gets 15 Lobi. In the 20-hr cooldown cannot do any other FE for another Lobi reward in that time, even on the other characters on the account. So there is no character 2 getting any Lobi within the 20-hr cooldown from character 1 getting Lobi. Only after that 20hrs can any char on the account can earn more Lobi thus preventing multiple characters from 'Lobi-farming' in a 20hr block.

    Is this correct?

    ======================
    Lag Issues
    =====================

In the last 24 hrs i put in 16 to 19 hrs of trying to play. That is more time than i get most weekends and most of it was a waste. More than half my time was waiting for lags and freezes to let me move or even type instructions for my ship & character. Taking over a dozen hrs to do Doff Assignments on only 5 or 6 characters? Really?!? and then only being able to get the char i was trying to grind up from Lv 2 to Lv 4?!?!?! And YES, that was WITH Q's Bonus!

And this morining i was checking chars for low-level gear to swap when the game crashed on the 3rd char! At this rate i'll need the durations for all "LIMITED TIME ONLY" Events to be doubled just to have a Chance at getting half of the rewards i had hoped to earn.

I will play the episode for the gear, and then I will delete the carrier. If the Advanced Obelisk was sold in the c-store, I would have bought the ship in a heartbeat. Oh, well... I am too much of a casual player.

Question, does the advanced carrier look different at all? Or is it the same model with different stats and the fancy console?
