3 wishes for STO

jumpingjsjumpingjs Member Posts: 0 Arc User
Pretend Q was here in the forums, and could make 3 wishes happen [but only for STO].

You cannot wish for more wishes, and you cannot say "Make STO live 4eva!" , so your wish should have a positive impact for STO.

Remember, he can do anything. (So it could be, massively better graphics, or Bridge Commander Gameplay, something that the STO team probably won't can't do)

I will post a response later.

Happy wishing!
Hopefully I'll come back from my break; this break is fun; I play intellectual games.

I hope STO get's better ...

I assume that you'd like for these wishes to be practical ones, rather than stupid little things? This being the case, with the game currently as it is, I would wish for the following:

    1) Cardassians as Playable (via a faction, though would likely be mini faction because of the game system).

    2) The ability to customize (significantly) all Bridge Officers, including those unique ones from the featured episodes. This would also include a significant update to the KDF wardrobe.

    3) The Galaxy Class in my Signature.

    1) Cardassians as a new faction / mini faction

    2) T-5 connie so those threads would stop

    3) A carrier UI that doesnt make me crash to desktop each time i launch fighters making carriers unusable for me.

1 - Get rid of the lock boxes, keys, whathav... in, fact, get rid if imPerfect World entirely.

2 - Increase level of detail to Eve/RSI standards.

3 - My own personal battlecruiser with 8 fore, 8 aft, all commander slots & 5 each console slots; utterly unique for me. ;p

1: A Delta or Gamma Quadrant Expansion Pack centered entirely on Exploration. Giving us a bit of sandbox and enough unique species encounters to make it seem random.

2: A new Crafting system that integrates Doffs, Rep, and Commodities - and allows you to create exclusive and useful gear.

3: Cryptic had the ability to put out 2 new Daily Missions each month, using existing resources and systems, and one new STF every other month, using new resources and systems. So the Dailies would use existing maps, but just add a return story while STFs would use all new maps with their own unique story.
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.

    1. Populate all existing zones and planets with meaningful content that isnt just "patrol this system." Add a small story to every planet, a five to six mission arc themed to it. Make the game more than just Borg ESTFs and the latest FOTM adventure zone. Give each arc completion an accolade, with a master accolade of say 10/25/50 arcs done = title or something.

    2. Increase the power and difficulty of NPC AI across the spectrum. Everything in this game is balanced around comparable tier white/common gear in rainbow/default setups. No one uses those, especially not after making all the newbie mistakes the first run through. balance everything against a mk xi blue lockbox/cstore ship loadout with difficulty sliders increasing to mkxii purple and fleet/rep respectively.

    3. Give PvP a serious and meaningful balance pass.

    Better music and Graphics.

Bridge Commander style game play, with better mechanics in game (Such as the not-very-good damage / injury system - improved)

More (and dare I say improved / increased realism) Trek story and general content.
Hopefully I'll come back from my break; this break is fun; I play intellectual games.

1st would be ability to purchase duel spec skills this way if i wanted to jump in a cruiser or sci i don't have to play using my tac skill setup (& yes I've played WOW)

2nd separate ground and space traits into 2 trees instead of 1 this way when i take my space traits i don't have to give-up my ground ones to be competitive

3rd create a separate 3 slot universal on ships so when i buy a bundle for the consoles i don't have to choose between getting 3 console bonus or having a hull or shield with no resistance.

    1. Exploration and patrolling expanded to the point that you can use them alone to level to cap.

    2. Removing PvP and making it it's own game.

    3. Cardassian faction. But without making a rehash of the now-four-decades-past Dominion War nor as a remake of the New Romulus arc with the True Way replacing the Tal Shiar. Continue the Germany allusions and use Germany in it's post war development as the basis.

    1. A cstore token purchase to change my captain's career choice.
This is one of the few respec options we dont have. I'm sure not many players remember, but we used to be restricted to the type of ship that we chose at lieutenant rank. If you picked a cruiser, you were forever restricted to cruisers. That was a long time ago, but it was changed because people dont like being forced to live with a decision that was made before appropriate knowledge about the game was obtained.
I'd love to be able to respec my science captain into an engineer, or my engineer into a tactical, or my tactical into a science, so on and so forth. The only reason that cryptic is not allowing this type of purchase (and claims they will never allow it) is money - though they may receive a pittance for purchasing the token, they'd lose out on all of the character-specific unlocks people have paid for, like fleet ships or lockbox rewards.
The entire MMO business has been corrupted ever since microtransactions were first thought up - no developer or publisher will do anything they arent receiving an inordinate amount of money for nowdays, and game quality has suffered as a result.

    2. A sweep of the entire game, even at the cost of an season release, to fix the numerous and long-standing bugs that have plagued us since before free-to-play.
Clipping with models, typos in mission briefings, incorrect audio files, poorly optimized visual effects resulting in substantial framerate loss, poorly designed models or textures, massive imbalances in ship performance, incorrect modifiers on some weapons or items, the list goes on and on and on. This game is riddled with bugs, some of which have been present since beta. As explained above, however, cryptic stands to earn no money for fixing what's broken, so they wont do it. Why put in effort to make the game better when you can toss another set of lockboxes or another fleet project or another shiny new ship to the masses and reap thousands of dollars of profits instead?

    3. An extension of the customization system.
Features that have, again, been asked for since beta and are put on the backburner because cryptic wont do anything they cant charge us for: The ability to customize the uniforms or species of our ship interior npcs, the ability to customize our ship interiors themselves, customization of armor or weapons (I'd love to use a high level phaser, but I wont because of those stupid holographic shells they all have), and additional customization options for ships which currently lack them.

This was never the case. You could pick any ship at any rank. The only difference was that you choose Skills based on ship types in the early days; thus if you had all your Skills in Cruiser ships you'd be less effective in Science Ships, but you were never restricted to the type of ship you could fly.

My first character in STO started out with a TOS Connie at T1, went onto a Nova at T2, then flew an Akira at T3, then a Galaxy at T4, and a Luna at T5. And since you got a free Respec at each Rank-up you could change your Skills to suit whatever ship you decided to use at each new Tier.
1) I would have a PvP territory war. 3 sections, two controlled by the respective faction and one contested zone and have the fight go one way or the other deeper into your opponents faction. Include some pve enemies that scales on player numbers to help out when one side massively outnumbers the other so at least its always fairly challenging.

    2) Flesh out the Klingons. I would like to see the Klingons on an even footing with the Feds in ships, missions and costumes. Whether is actually brings in many more players or makes them any more money is an endless debate around here, but at least they would be finished and we can move on.

    3) Flesh out the Romulans, as if you are going to do the KDF you might as well finish the roms too and have everyone level. It will round out the game more.

    Top 3 would be:

    1. Exploration system - integrate a proper exploration system worthy of a Star Trek game, where the chances of having exploartion/discovery missions and diplomacy/first contact missions are in equal percantage with hostile/combat situations. There are already a lot of good suggestions in many threads on the forum.

    2. Crafting system - what more needs to be said. It desperately needs a fix or a complete revamp, as it is currently the best gear you can craft is quite expensive in resources and far far away from being on pair with the latest end game gear. Crafting is an integral part of MMOs and this really needs to be taken care of.

    3. Cardassian faction - I'm a huge fan, what can I say. A complete leveling experience with VO work from Andrew Robinson as Elim Garak! That would make my year. :) And show the Feddies, Klinks and Rommies how PvP is really done by Keldoning their a$$ out of Ker'rat. lol :P:D

Klingons and Romulans to each have equal amount of stuff to buy from the C-Store as the Federation side has. Klingons and Romulans need more outfits and need more ships.

Have more total missions (both normal and elite versions) for getting marks for each and every reputation and to give equally valuable reward of Dilithium and marks.

To have much much much much much less bug, glitches, errors and typo in the game and any new ones that pop up to be fixed in a reasonable time.

    1. Every ship will have universal slots for the BOFF. So that we can choose up to 12 BOFF abilities any way we choose.

    2. Universal consoles up to 10 slots...how we choose. Meaning my Jem Dreadnought will have
    3 Science/ 3 Engineering/ 4 Tactical.

    3. 13 universal ship slots. So that we can customize how ship's Deflector, Engine, weapons, warp core and shields. Examples

    my Vesta will be:
    4 fore + 4 Aft + 1 deflector + 2 shields + 1 engine + 1 warp core.

    or

    my Atrox will be:
    4 fore + 3 aft + 2 engines + 2 deflectors + 1 shield + 1 warp core.
One day Cryptic will be free from their Perfect World overlord. Until that day comes, they will continue to pamper the whales of this game, and ignore everyone that isn't a whale.

    2) Foundry in-map edit mode
    3) Regular Featured Episodes in addition to adventure/rep content

    BONUS TOTALLY UNREALISTIC WISH:
Send me back to 2010 on launch day, but leave my STO account as it is now, so that I CAN BE THE ONLY ROMULAN IN THE ENTIRE GAME! MWA HAH HAH! THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE! I have the only D'Deridex and the rest of you are stuck in stock ships with white MK X gear, if you're lucky!

    1) Removal of player careers and player skill builds. Let everyone spec into skills of their choice, in the ships of their choosing.

    2) Removal of starship trinities and use mass and slot types as the limiting factor for itemization.

    3) Upgrade to Phase Cloaks for all Federation cloaking vessels.

    1. Remove the vertical turn limits, make combat three dimensional.

    2. Add weak points and head shots to ground combat.

    3. Give players the ability to merge all alts into a collective rep that scales in ease with the number of characters.

    1) All fleet holding art released to be used in the foundry so that foundry authors can create storylines for their own fleets to follow. Great for RP purposes.

    2) Let foundry authors design ship interiors, why does the foundry need to be limited to mission design? I would love it if there were custom ship interior files you could get via the foundry.

    3) The temporal ships, when they say they will provide the appropriate version for your faction, why does a Romulan not get a cloaking device and a singularity warp core with their version of these ships? If there is a mirror universe does that not mean there would be Romulans there as well?

    1) Player "Kits" that are customizable, allowing us to pick the skills we want to use, not the skills that the devs think we should be saddled with.

    2) A revamp of the BOff skill system, where the skills are built around what tier I put them in, not randomly. So basically I pick FAW, then decide if I want to put it in ensign, lt, lcdr, or commander slot, and get boosts to the power depending on what level I put it in.

    3) Aux Cannons and 180 degree torpedoes for my Klingons!

1- making true faction vs faction warfare, no going all buddy buddy on DS9 and combined ops only for anti borg ops as is, feddy players able to attack Klingon players on site and vice versa

    2. 3-Dimensional flight, no more airplane physics in a space game!!

    3. combined sector map and some true persistent exploration outside of explored sector map like access to the unknown i.e. the gamma quadrent with less instancing.

    1. Has to be crafting , all the best gear in the game should come from crafting and not fleet stores and the ships themselves to be upgradeable . 2. The Romulans to break free of the federation and the KDF and have there own faction in Tau Dewa. 3. More Klingon stories and ships and well more Klingon everything.
