Unequipping any kit will now instantly expire any buffs or debuffs granted by any power in that kit.

I hope this also includes any DOFF proc buff. Glad to see this issue addressed after all this time. :D

Hey Devs, how about emptying the inactives out of the tribble fleet so that those who want to test, can test?

my main concern is there are a lot of bugs with season 8 that you already are aware of, cryptic. are they going to be fixed before you release to holodeck, because you have a bad track record of not fixing bugs and sending them to holodeck?

Some quick testing reveals thats not the case. This fixes only 1/3 of whats needed to fix kit-switching.

    a) doff proc's are still not cancelled.
    b) switching-kits also still works to resets cooldowns on abilities.

So the random drops from the rep system are not going to be able to be sold to a vendor for EC if they are not of use to us?

having all the Mk12 gear from other reputations and fleets I doubt mk x and xi gear will matter to me. So now there is potentially very little benefit of the item box, other than the joys of tedious discarding items as we acquire them.

    • Dyson Regenerative Shield Array Mk XII: Replaced shield Proton resistance with shield Antiproton resistance.

Are there any shields that grant proton resistance now, except for fleet shields?
    • Dyson Heavy Combat Armor: Slightly reduced this armor's crouched damage resistance.

Does this mean that armors have a crouch damage resistance that differs from their normal damage resistance? I thought crouching just increased your dodge chance. Also, there is a tooltip bug for crouching that has been around since Legacy of Romulus was beta.

    • Weapons and Consoles awarded through this reputation's Dilithium Stores and Dyson Equipment Requisition boxes no longer have any sell value.

What is the reason for this change? Often, a player doesn't want the reward from an equipment requisition box, because it doesn't fit his build. Do you really expect enough of these boxes to drop that selling the rewards to vendors would be generate too much EC? If so, how is this different from selling other loot? Can we at least still sell them on the Exchange?
    • Voth Dreadnaught
      • Dreadnaughts are now unstoppable due to their size and immune to crowd control.

You might want to rethink this, since it vitiates the usefulness of science vessels against Voth dreadnoughts.

Firts I have to say its nice that now Trible Test Server is open for silver players aswell, thank you very much.
The Dyson Heavy Combat Armor was moved to Tier 5? Darn, that was a really useful item to get at T1.

I know, i feel the same way, i am kinda down about this change :(
It was done probabaly so the players have a goal, at least for the curiousity to get it to see how it looks.
Dyson armor was moved to T5 and made weaker.. Was it really that good?
Well it was in the first release, having around 20 more stats then the MACO/OMEGA MK XII armors, had like 102 energy ress for exemple. But it seems it was nerfed to match the other ones :(
Does this mean that armors have a crouch damage resistance that differs from their normal damage resistance? I thought crouching just increased your dodge chance. Also, there is a tooltip bug for crouching that has been around since Legacy of Romulus was beta.

The Dyson armor had in its description a power like this, when you crounch you get dmg reduction from frontal damage. Wich is one of the best things imo, at least now ppl maybe will learn more how to play grounds, since crouching is an important element for that. A small bonus to aim would have help aswell.

And i speculate on the 3 pieces bonus skill/power that is somewhat related to this, since it seems that Hunker Down means to take shelter (i am not a native english/american speaker). I hope its just a passive power like OMEGA/MACO sets and not a click and 3 mins CD one like the Jem'Hadar one.

Edit: Ohh i forgot, thats kinda sucky that the energy specific tac consoles were introduced :(

either that or make the dyson loot bag drop more then just shield console at tier 0 bag geesh i had a bag full of those shields in under 30 minutes and can't sell for Ec makes that rep less and less worth doing.

For 2k ec you got a box that had an item that sold for between 1800ec and 9500ec. It was pure profit most of the time. The rep is already the cheapest to level in the game, costing between 0EC and 1.3mEC before the sell value of the box drops was added in. There was a good chance you would end up with a profit of EC after reaching Tier V.

Only reason you can get a "bag full" in under 30 minutes is because they removed the timers on tribble so that it can be tested. The loot bags are still a good sorce of the protonic weapons for dealing dmg to the Voth. And the drops get better as you get higher.

    From a box:
    Tac console
    +2.5% accuracy
    +15% proton dmg
    +15% plasma dmg

    Eng Console
    +10 Antiproton dmg resist
    +10 Proton dmg resist
    +20% flight turn rate
    +2.5% defense

And there are some others, these are just the free ones, the store will also have the items you want. Ignoring the bonus trait powers that leveling it gain you.

On a different note: I used shattering harmonics in the Sphere ground and npcs and players turned purple with the rest of the map not changing, unlike normal where everything gets kind of white.

It was done probabaly so the players have a goal, at least for the curiousity to get it to see how it looks.

It was probably done because the Voth can chew through shields, so if you got the armor at tier 1, you got the cream of the crop. I liked it early on, but I can see why they raised it.

As this post says, yes it was a bit more powerful then it should. Of course in typical Cryptic fashion they lowered it to below the MACO/OMEGA MK XII level. Can't have anything equal to or better then the Borg stuff after all.

The crouch resistance seemed to be pretty good too. But I do think if they're going to make it a tier V reward, it needs a slight buff back up. Not to its original levels, but right now it seems they penalized us twice. They should have raised it to tier v and lowered it down only very, very slightly, or they should have left it as a tier 1 or 2, and lowered it to its currently level.

Damage type specific consoles are certainly a step in the right direction to make more builds (mixed beam/cannon) viable, however, any chance to add energy+projectile hybrid consoles? Putting it into the most basic variants of +beam/+torpedo; +cannons/+torpedo; +beam/+mine; +cannons/+mine, we're talking about 4 more consoles to break the superiority of energy or projectile only builds and allows e.g. the typical canon setup of energy weapons + torpedoes to be a viable alternative.

Cryptic, thanks for adding energy type specific consoles!

It was sorely needed in game, and I am very happy to hear that we can now get them without having to pay a bugship's price on the exchange.

Now I can afford to have a great pve ship with fleet consoles. I think this is the best thing in the whole Season 8 !
Let us wear Swimsuits on Foundry maps or bridges please! I would pay zen for that.

[*]Some people will experience framrate drops in the Battlezone.
    Oh god, this.

The Battlezone is basically unplayable for me. Most of the game runs fine, stutters only from time to time, but the Battlezone is a constant slideshow from the moment I beam down.

Using WinXP, DX9, GeForce GTX460, Athlon II X2 240 and 3,12GB RAM. The performance is awful even when I disable the UI (Alt+F12), which usually is the main reason for any framerate drops I experience in STO.

Yea the frame rate drop is pretty noticeable. You shouldn't have changed the shield hardening of the Voth from 80% down to 20% on the battle zone tho. They are total wimps now. :(

It was really bad for me as well. I went into the options and dropped the setting one notch toward speed instead of a quality and it was running fine once more.

    WHy delete the tribble data?

I always thought the updates took confirmed Tribble data into account and just copied that over into the "Holodeck" update reducing the total download.

That is also my experience. Before the patching program downloads data it checks Tribble and Redshirt versions you have installed and takes what it can from those before downloading data.

Does the same when updating Redshirt of Tribble installs you have.

TRIBBLE-a-doodle... Just tried to get into Tribble...

I'm back to my connection totally timing-out to the STO site again, after this patch.
(The game actually crashes my Modem)

Had this problem when LoR first released.

Never happens with any of my other internet sites (and I'm all over the web).

Oh well, You Folks fixed it eventually the last time, I'll be patient for now.

Come to think of it..., If I remember correctly, I eventually had to load up the game in a minimized window for it to start properly, then maximize it.

    I'll give it a try...

Yep, that worked, got into Tribble this time.... ah... but went into "Server Not Responding".... annnnd bounced outta the game.... crud.

Back in again... the fun just keeps on rollin' along...

    Yeahhh... and out again...

Well, I guess I'll have to wait for the next Tribble build, I can't stay in the game long enough to be able to do anything.

Why not keep the old weapon type fleet consoles at 25%, and give the energy types ones the 30% their non fleet variants already have?

Its fleet, so it SHOULD be better than non fleet ones.
