If they fixed Phasers that would help this ship...

Honestly though this and the Romulan splitting ship both have a big issue... The pieces that come with you are pretty worthless at this point. They cannot keep guns on target, they get left behind constantly, they die almost instantly, and add a meager and unnoticeable amount of damage. Considering they should be as powerful as the other parts of your ship they should be a LOT more capable of being scary and making a dent in the enemies. They should also survive a bit better.

I know all about the lack of handling I think that's one of the factors that caused them to be given beam arrays over just (pulse?) cannons. With regard to getting left behind, don't they have the standard 50/50/50/50 power settings? That would explain it even with them now getting the 'parent's' equipment, I know my escorts use EPtE now.

If I had my way they would get multiple things:
1, Parent's gear and weapon slots (with independent setups such that they would have both cannons and beam arrays but in larger numbers to make up for the AI's rubbish piloting and the lack of firepower) and power levels (with vector's modifications).

2, A wider range of abilities with Gamma vector taking advantage of the player's LTC sci giving it GW1.

3, Ideally the AI would get taught that not every ship is a cruiser, as such the AI parts could be given more cannons, they would also be subject to carrier commands.

4, They would be given a health upgrade based on the player's max HP. The hull would get divided into three and 1 third given to each vector however the shield emitters being closer together would either give a shield resistance bonus or a shield HP buff for going MVM.

5, The stop-start 'feature' during separation and docking would be removed.

6, I'd change the turning pivot point such that it turns from the front like the patrol escort rather than turning from the back.

This means that they would still get left behind if the player uses speed buffs but they could keep up with your power/gear speeds, they would also be competitive on the dps front most likely ending up around the 2.5k/3k depending upon the AI piloting overhaul and the resulting weapon loadout. But ultimately with carrier pets having more advanced abilities and in some cases better AI the MVM sections are obsolete.

With the wide-spread proliferation of hangar bays, i would have to agree with the previous posters that the MVAE, Fleet AE, etc., are in need of a revamp/retool.

Changes I would like to see the MVAE and related get:

    1) The smoother, separate in flight mechanic that the Gal-R/X and Oddy have

    2) A 2409-style skin for the C-store MVAE (one of the very few 'refits' or 'retrofits' from the C-store without a new skin)

    3) Revamp the behavior and armaments of the Vector Pets. i.e.:
Remove all abilites from the vector pets first.

Add a 'focus fire on players target' behavior as the pets basic AI.

Add weapons to each vector such that each vector is armed like this:
Vector Alpha: Dual Cannon, 2x Beam Array, Photon Torp fore / Beam Array, Turret, Photon Torp aft
Vector Beta: Dual Cannon, Dual Heavy Cannon, Beam Array, Photon Torp fore / Beam Array, Turret, Photon Torp aft
Vector Gamma: Dual Cannon, Dual Beam Bank, Beam Array, Photon Torp fore / Beam Array, Turret, Photon Torp aft

Now that the pets have had their built in powers removed and gained weapons to represent most weapon groups:
Add a BOff power repeat/copy function similar to the Obelisk set 3-piece for certain self-buffs; TT, APB, APD, TSS:x, FAW, BO, CRF, CSV, THY, TS, PH, EPtX, A2D, DEM but not add heals or certain high value powers or captain buffs, so no HE, ST, APA or APO, etc

This way, you can have a small level of control over the pets without encroaching on carrier special commands and by making it so that each BOff power you use is copied by your pets to get the coordinated assault we saw on screen.

Personally from watching "message in a bottle" where the doctor from Voyager went back to the federation and ended up on the Promethius, why not give the MVAE multi vector attack patterns.

I mean when both EMHs got to the bridge they basically split the ship, selected attack pattern alpha, designated romulan, ship parts did the rest.

Why not Attack patters Alpha, bravo, charlie and delta.

The other two sections should have 2 phaser arrays, 2 cannons and 1 quantum torp and a quantum mine layer per section.

Alpha, they use their phasers to attack your target while moving. Beta, they do cannon attacks. Charlie they drop mines around the specific target. Delta they attack any target around you as they see fit.

    Or something like that.
