Holidays - Halloween

I am not sure why there was an agnostic view taken on holidays but I?d like to start a petition to get some artistic stuff added during Holiday times, particularly Halloween!
STO artists come on! Add some Pumpkins to Quark?s. Put some alien masks out there (Maybe even a mask of Sulu or Ltn. Karbo) .

Fun stuff.

Just think it would be enjoyable to see some stuff like that once a year.

Not everyone celebrates halloween but what cryptic could do is have a fall festival with some sort of event or FE.

You might see the return of the "Hearts And Minds" mission, although given that it was run not too long ago, it's unlikely.

Other than that, it's unlikely that we'll see anything new just for Halloween.

True but as I said, it wasn't held that long ago, so I wasn't expecting them to rerun it again so soon, regardless of Halloween.

Halloween is a American thing that has for some reason that is beyond me leaked into other contries, dispite said contries (including my own) has their own variant of said tradition.

If Baseball didn survive into the 24'th century, neither should halloween.
Don't look silly... Don't call it the "Z-Store/Zen Store"...
Let me put the rumors to rest: it's definitely still the C-Store (Cryptic Store) It just takes ZEN.

Actually, Halloween is Gaelic and Welsh in origin. The Irish and Scottish brought it to the US in the 19th century, and wasn't mainstream until the beginning of the 20th century.

So you're saying that it did'n become popular until it became a US thing...? Gotcha.

Someone take that baseball off of Benjamin Sisko's desk. What's an American thing doing in Star Trek? While they're at it, erase all those episodes of them playing baseball on the holo deck.

lol... Not quite. It didn't become popular in the US until the early 20th century. I should have written that clearer. Although, the candy companies have greatly increased it's popularity.

They could at least stick a pumpkin on the bar at ESD. Give it an interesting carving.

The Ferengi on Drozana would probably also be very likely to pick up on this holiday.

Anything they think would get customers to spend more Latinum would be right up their alley.

    I hope you're being sarcastic.

    @anazonda

If Baseball didn survive into the 24'th century, neither should halloween.

Baseball survived, but not in an organized, professional fashion (i.e. big leagues, marketing, etc). But organized leagues started to enjoy a revival in the 2370s, as evident on Cestus III.

    Exactly.

Most of the people who raise hell about so-called "religious" holidays and observances, seem to forget that the major ones have been commercialized and secularized. Hell, Christmas is a big holiday in Japan, even among Shinto adherents. To them it's all about Santa Claus, novelty, and getting presents. The Japanese have even incorporated some of their own twists into it, including some yearly Shinto traditions.

Let me rephrase it then: Halloween should be limited to some random colony, 3 months away from Deep Space 9.

Halloween became what it is today because America turned it into a money making scheme. They did the same with Christmas and any other holiday/tradition they could get away with ;)

Yes. A heaping teaspoon of sarcasm.

Most of the people who raise hell about so-called "religious" holidays and observances, seem to forget that the major ones have been commercialized and secularized. Actually, Halloween is very popular in Japan now too. While trick or treating is rare, decorations are everywhere. It's grown a lot over the past decade or so. In fact, you can see places start to sell Halloween stuff as early as August, which is earlier than I can ever remember seeing in America.

In real life, I usually drag out my Star Trek costumes for Halloween. So, what would that be in STO?... :)

Actually, I guess the thing to do would be to grab personal holo emitters and go "trick or treating" somewhere. ESD? Qo'noS? Mol'Rihan? Risa? Sounds like a community event that BranFlakes could organize (hint, hint)....

I agree that the Ferengi would certainly capitalize on any holiday they could. Perhaps some special "seasonal" items offered by the Lobi Crystal Consortium. How about some Fek'Ihri holo emitters?
