With the recent release of the avanger i was wondering if the community wanted additional inversions. Since there are ships in game that really dont have a second full skin. So i ask do we want these ships (excelsior, ambasador, oddessay, avanger and others) to get variants? Maybe 2409 versions of the ambasador and excelsior?
Personally I do love to mix and match parts from several skins, change windows and hull texture! I done a very unique MVAE and I love flying it and not seeing another one like it!
I think all ships should have 3 skins so we can make the ship our own. But I still like the classic look too... like my Sov, Intrepid and Defiant all have the orignal skins

every ship for KDF should have the KDF green.. including the lockbox and lobi ships.

Before the they were added to the fleet shipyard versions, Cryptic sold ship costumes in the c store. The Imperial cruiser skin, the Comet science ship skin, the Hephaestus escort skin, the Nomad cruiser skin, the Maelstrom escort skin, and the Nimbus science ship skin were all c store costume items. PWE's decision to bundle those ship costumes with fleet ships is illogical.
yh i remember those skins n have em all. I agree all ships should have 3 skins. Or should they sell parts like a bundle for a type of ship rather than a complete ship?
Tbh I feel that the lack of customization on the newer ships is a total buzzkill. If a ship comes out that I don't really like the look of, well too bad. Can't change it like the older ships. Even though a few ships have some slight changes (Kumari/Scimitar lines) I don't feel that it's enough. I can't even tell if someone has made any changes on those ships.
Even though some of them have some really good stats and perform very well in combat, I won't buy them because of how they look. And since I can't really alter anything on them, I end up passing on them.
Although I like how the Avenger looks, it's still weak in the customization area. You can take off the nacelle winglets and change the pylons if you have the fleet version but that's about it. Kind of lame.
I don't even really need a full on second or third ship skin, just some more parts to mix it up.

Indeed. Cryptic often boasts how proud they are of the char customization options, but what we get is often buggy costumes and the ship customization options get fewer and fewer.
Granted, there are tons of different ships and skins for them and that is a lot of work.
But I would appreciate it. It's not that the C-Store prices are cheap.
Since they stopped selling ship costumes, the customization in this game has gone seriously downhill. So many ships in the game dont even get options anymore - I refused to buy the t'varo/fleet t'varo because it doesnt get any options at all. Same goes for many others.
Cryptic would rather put out a bunch of half-assed low quality ships and rake in the money than put any real effort into detail. The entire gaming industry has been following suit lately - lesser quality for higher cost.
Now that I think about it, it isn't just STO that Cryptic has pulled customization on.
Over in NW, two of the big complaints I've seen were the anemic character creator and the lack of different gear models. The end result is that a lot of people all look like similar to each other.
In CO they introduced vehicles, but guess what? You can't swap out any external parts on them. They won't let you even change the colors on them. In short, there's no visual customization at all on any vehicle.
Now in STO we have them cutting back on ship part customization.
What happened to the whole "Cryptic is about customization" tagline they used to use. Where did that go? Can they even claim that anymore?
Eh, maybe I'm just ranting now...but it really does irritate me. Especially when I know they can do better. They just don't.
I agree I would love more options on ships. Some ships I use different parts and make a killer unique ship. Some I don't and like the keep it the way it is.
I wished they bring back the Imperial look, and many others.
