Can't we have an automated rule on the forum? Mention JJ trek and the topic is deleted immediately. I'm running out of facepalms with all these JJ dreadnought topics.
Seriously, the EXETER. aside from it being the wrong size, and a few different colors, it is almost EXACTLY the JJ prise, same nacelle psoitioning, same swoop to the pylons, same overall look. im actually fairly certain the jj prise was jacked from the Exeter.
As we say in the Warhammer 40k universe quite often, "HERESY!"
Besides, I seriously don't think I've ever, and I mean ever, seen an Exeter in space. Maybe because it's a Z-Store ship, but whatever. Regardless, I seriously don't think anyone owns, let alone flies, an Exeter, and even if Exeters were popular, there's no random epic in-flight noises, no psychadelic light show of a bussard ramscoop, AND the thing is tiny. No, the Exeter is not the JJ-Prise, and vice versa.
Anyway, the number of people who are trying to push, and keep JJ Trek from their minds never ceases to amuse....err, amaze me. Yes, it's real. It happened, as surely as Miley Cyrus twerked at the VMAs, then made out with a hammer and rode a wrecking ball. JJ Trek is considered a franchise reboot, it's not going anywhere, it's here to stay. Your other favorite casts are either too old, deceased, or doing other things. Sorry.
yeah and i want an inquisition ship, with a compartment of deathwatch shuttles. which could be as well a parallel universe to this. hmm Warhammer Mod for STO... ?? best game ever.
but its not only a reboot its a complete new and different franchise.
i think the main problem after the CBS has no rights for JJ-dreck is,
its not only a different timeline but also a fully different universe. as elsewhere it would have changed the sto timeline completely to non existent.
the problem with the jj prise is that not even the movie has a consistent size of it.. it changes from 330 metres to 700 metres. from scene to scene. meassured on surroundings and the bonus material on the dvd.
700 metres thats almost as long as the oddy?
while i agree that somehow the jelly fish did emerge from this universe and culd be added in a different manner.
there would be problems with the tholians bringing the ifruit loving jj prise in here. also as the vengeance as dread.
both seem to be prototypes in their universe. and alsmost having no shields but the hull of an borg cube.. (compared to what damage the ship takes in the battle at earthorbit)
it would be unplayable and not reasonable as an exchange for an T5 conny, which we also never will get.
unfortunately.
the exeter resambles the iconic parts of the jj prise together with the veteran skin option it comes close. and has the right size and being boosted up might even be shown a bit technologically advanced as it is shown in jj trek.
i would agreee on a costume option that makes her even more resembling and a special ifruit bridge for the fans that doesnt look exactly the same... but can be resembled to the new jj trek prise. as there are fans of this somewhere.... so no real copyright infringement would happen and some fans would be pleased, but the main core of players wont have to deal with it that the last bastion of normal trek universe would be assimilated by jj
Dude, the magic schoolbus was friggin EPIC. I woulda loved to take that thing for a spin around the solar system. Or in the human body. Or wherever. It's a friggin MAGIC SCHOOL BUS
@OP. Trollololololololololol. Well played, Sir! Well played, indeed!
Been far far too long since the Anti-JJ hipsters had a place to vent their spleens at anyone and everyone who comes within 1 light year of either of the movies Abrams made. Both of which aren't too bad, BTW.
And as to the, "They're not canon!" argument - I have autographed 8x10 glossies of all of the TOS cast. Your argument is invalid. If Y'all want to go strictly canon, then anything which was not written, directed, or produced by Gene himself is a heretical abomination which should be purged from existence immediately!
Including STO and these here forums, you 'I'm too hip for my own good.' foul blasphemers.
How can you publicly hate so hard on the JJPrise, yet publicly admit to tolerating or even enjoying Wesley Crusher?
But I seem to have fallen for the trap the troll set for us. I can feel my IQ points dropping as I type. So before I turn into a hipster let me answer the question posed by the OP.
No to the JJPrise in STO. Not because I don't like it, or it's from JJAbrams, or I am trying to be keweler than you.
Because it doesn't really fit. An Oddy-sized TOS era cruiser mounting cannons and what are apparently the worst shields ever probably wouldn't generate much income for pwe/cryptic.
A six year old boy and his starship. Living the dream.
I've seen far more T5 Connie and let me play a mindless Borg drone threads than I do JJ dreadnought threads.
The rule can be expanded to those as well.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.
Best Cryptic can do is work arounds such as Tal Shiar ship in place of actual Naranda, wonder how they get to mention the Jellyfish ship Spock used over in JJ-Verse

Simple: they can use the "Countdown" comics. Stuff that appears in both the comics AND movie are okay while stuff ONLY in the movies is out.

Yup. It's not so much "Cryptic can't use anything from the JJ movies" so much as, "Cryptic can't use anything from the JJ universe."
The Jellyfish, was shown in the Countdown comic in the "Prime" universe before crossing over, so they were able to use it. Technically, there's no reason they couldn't use the Narada, other than that it's been destroyed/removed from the universe. The Tal Shiar lockbox ships were clearly inspired by the Narada.
Edit: I acknowledge that this is a simplification, as there are actual legal issues surrounding use of assets from the shows vs. the JJ films. But it's a fair simplification of the loophole that allows the Jellyfish and the Vault to be mentioned and seen.
...talking to players is like being a mall Santa. Everyone immediately wants to tell you all of the things they want, and you are absolutely powerless to deliver 99% of them.
J.J.Abrams is an abomination to scifi and should never direct another Star Trek or Star Wars movie.
That aside whoever designed the Enterprise for the film has talent. +1 to the J.J.A. Enterprise.
I have two beefs with the JJ-prise.
First the size. The huge size makes no sense. And the reasoning behind making it huge makes no sense. To give it a grand and epic scale. It's still small in space. Should've emphasized the underdog nature against the Scimitar by leaving it small. You don't have to go full on V'Ger but come on.
Second, looking at it, I can't see how the hell you get Power Transfer Conduits on that thing from the warp core to the nacelles...THROUGH the shuttlebay. It actually is a pretty ship, but it's a little screwy on function side.
I did like what they did with the common interior from what I've seen of In to Darkness, so maybe they should incorporate something like that into our interiors.

But on the scale of canon, Wesley was extremely hard canon by your standards, after all he was Gene's golden boy. Even gave Wil his old wings.

That's a good point.
EDIT:
One more thing. There seems to be a lot of call for point defense and questions as to why the shows never had point defense to enemy torpedoes. Voyager actually answered the question. The Doctor demonstrated that when you shoot a photon torpedo with a phaser, it makes a photonic shockwave. You don't want to do that to a weapon that is coming towards you. One thing I am happy that they broke from canon is you can shoot down a plasma energy bolt, which in ST: TMP was immune to weapons. On the other hand in The Motion Picture you could actually tank it with shields.

With a Fleet Nimbus Broomstick and wands for a set bonus.
