Maybe they'll make lock box ships account unlocks now. I mean probably not but I'm pretty sure people would be more likely to spend like 60$ trying to get those ships if they knew they could be unlocked for the account.
I remain empathetic to the concerns of my community, but do me a favor and lay off the god damn name calling and petty remarks. It will get you nowhere.
I must admit, respect points to Trendy for laying down the law like that.
wow... first patch note in weeks that has *some* significance to it
but count me under the "too little too late" column... stopped playing STO like over a month ago (and i am playing other stuff now that gets my time + money).
still surprised by this, hope for this game just went up by +0,00000047%
(in the end, what do i care about Lobi if i stopped playing STO for other reasons? ...like boredom and amount of bugs etc.)
Glad with this, might start grinding EC for keys now.
Not suspicious of a catch. Usually when people are suspicious for a catch with something great in this game, nothing ever happens of a catch. Like all those people expecting a catch during the Free Stuff giveaway.
I know it's just on the test server and may not go live this thursday - hope it does!! Hint hint, wink, wink!
It's really going to make it easier for a LOT of people to by Lobi ships - those of us who have between 100-200 lobi on many many toons.
Thanks Cryptic!!
P.S. Of course the ships will also go for cheap on the exchange as well - which is a bonus!!
General
Lobi is now bind on account!
Lobi can now be traded between all characters on an existing account through the account bank.
Lobi cannot be traded to other players or placed on the exchange.
This change will work on all existing lobi you?re already collected as well as all future earned lobi.
For those of us who don't waste our money on Lockboxes Lobi has little meaning; and thus account-bound Lobi has little meaning.
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.
Not as obvious, but there is probably a Merge incoming...

Even if u don't give two sh@#s about lockboxes an lobi, some people did ask for this and well looks like its happening, the devs listened an we got. I say a step in any direction where we ask and get is a step in the right direction ( baby steps maybe but good baby steps ).

I see this as the calm before the storm Cryptic have been overly generous with stuff

third they are rereleasing the CE event
four account bound lobi that we have been shouting about for years

Yes this was a BIG change that many players have been after since Lobi started. It will also be a great thing to have when many players come back for the FE and season 8 and find this nice surprize.
maybe they will get something they want and stay in the game longer - or be more willing to buy keys.

It has more meaning for you than you think, it might encourage those people who waste money on lock boxes to waste more money on lock boxes to top up the lobi they have.... which gives money to PWE/Cryptic.. which keeps the game open so you can play for free. :P
The Optimist in me is thinking that They are making a bunch of money and are just 'giving a little back' to the players, cause They are rolling in dough.
The Pessimist in me is thinking that They are making a desperate attempt to bring players back to the game, so They don't have to close it down by the first of the year.

Sounds kind of ominous - doom?
On a serious note - there are a lot of high player games coming out in the next few months that could suck players away - right now I believe we are suffering from the GTA5 effect - 30 million or so copies sucking up the worlds gamers for that title.
Next on deck is the also $250 million budget(similar to GTA5) super movie style game Call of Duty Ghost.
Then perhaps a HUGE threat : Elder Scrolls Online.
In the face of this Cryptic need to listen to players and get agressive. I just hope that they make some of these long demanded changes/requests before there is more bleed. It's always better to get out ahead of things - especially Elder Scrolls Online.

To be honest, every new game from any popular franchise is always 'the one' that will shut STO down. I have yet to see it happen.
Besides, Call of Duty? Meh, those games stopped being original a LONG time ago (except Halo, that series is still excellent). The only people that will probably buy that are the exact same people who bought the last one.
ESO? I'm itching for it, but it won't be out until next year. Same with Star Citizen. So until they ARE out, anything said is speculation.

Clutter threads? There was another thread with the same title info?
Sure but there are many many many players with multiple toon that have lobi scattered in small amounts - I have about 1500 lobi on about 12 toons
I don't think I am the only one.
Not as obvious, but there is probably a Merge incoming...

It didn't have lobi in the title, but it's the same subject.

Ah yes - the title of the thread is a little "open ended":P
Sorry.
Yup agreed, but if the price of those lobi ships drop on the exchange, it's win win
