Starbase Fleet Defense massive lag/rubberbanding?

I've been having an issue the past few days when playing SFD (and only SFD) on my Fed. It cropped up out of the blue and hasn't abated. I have no trouble with the initial defense of the outer facilities, but as soon as it comes to defending the base in the center, my ship control goes to poo & my Oddy takes on a life of it's own. I swear it's like watching an epileptic fit or a fish out of water flailing around, all over the place. I rubberband back & forth, I lag, I go wherever the bleep my Oddy feels like, until the center battle is over. Then it's back to normal like nothing ever happened to defend the outer facilities again. As soon as the center battle begins, Zombie Ship is back.

I highly doubt it's my hardware because it doesn't do this for my Romulan, which I play on the same machine, and I had identical graphics settings for her. Also, reducing the graphics settings in-game doesn't solve this for my Fed... Ideas?? Do I just have a secretly evil, possessed ship?
