Mark Valentine (aka h2orat), former Video/Media supervisor at PWE and foundry Author has passed away.
Mark was responsible for some great trailer videos for Star Trek Online particularly, created the spotlit foundry mission The Rising Pheonix and was all around a good guy.
Mark had to take leave for treatment when he was diagnosed with cancer. The cancer had spread but now seemed under control and things were improving. Unfortunately you cannot take anything for granted with cancer and he died.
My thoughts and prayers go to his family and friends through this time and I am sure he will be missed at Cryptic and at Perfect World.
H2orat's GoFundMe has more details regarding how things have been going.

Thank you to everyone who donated to his site to help him and his family. I wish them the best during a difficult time of grief. It's very sad news.
He will be missed.
It is very sad when good people go so young.

My character Tsin'xing
He was incredibly talented, and knew his craft inside and out. He was always happy to help and talk.
I regret that I never got to meet him in person. He was a wonderful human being!
I will miss him.
My sincerest heartfelt condolences to all his friends, colleagues and family.

Mark was amazingly supportive of the entire STO community, from the forum posters to the podcasters. He loved Trek and that love was reflected in his amazing video work.
I'm going to miss him terribly...
See you on the other side one day.
My condolences to the Valentine family and close friends.
I like the idea of a Doff in his name, certainly good way to thank him for his work in STO and other PWE games.
My condolences to his family and co-workers.
I really did love the F2P and LoR trailers, they were true works of art.
I hope that the team will set a special place in the Foundry for his Foundry mission(s), like a type of memorial.
I am still like the idea of a special bound purple doff - maybe a civilian
My greatest condolences to his family, coworkers and friends that knew him.

I really loved the trailers he made, and the care and support he always showed for the community on multiple levels was inspiring and wonderful. He will be missed.
Amazingly creative, always upbeat, always fun to be around, totally dedicated to his work. He loved Cryptic, our games and our players and was always willing to go the extra mile to make something better.
I'm going to miss those ridiculously long email chains full of jokes and ideas.

To absent friends ...
Sorry to hear these sad news, R.I.P.
May the Good Lord take him and keep until his loved ones get to see him again, new body and all.
Amen.

I didn't even know he was sick...
Man...I remember back in the early days of STO having a conversation with him about being able to get the option to turn off the shield rings around our starships. He said that he would try to get some sort of dev tool that he used for videos into the game so that we could at least temporarily get rid of the rings until a permanent solution was found. He wasn't able to get the dev tool in game, but shortly after that we had the ability to turn them off. A feature that I still use and enjoy to this day. I told him that I would name my escort after him for that, the USS H2orat. And I did.
I remember him watching Rachel Garret's videos and then trying to get him to apply at Cryptic so that he could make videos with him. That was always funny.
...ugh, that's now two people I've known over the internet that have passed away due to cancer this year. The first was a friend and SG mate over on the CO side, and now H2orat.
Anyway, before I get to wrapped up in that, I'll just say that I'll miss the guy and that my thoughts go out to his family.

My condolences to his family. He will be missed.
Especially one so young.
Though I only knew of this fine young man through these forums, I wish to send my deepest and heartfelt sympathies, to his Family and Friends on their loss.
May we all be reassured, that though his earthly-light has gone out, his inner-glow will continue to be felt and seen by those who loved him, not only through his work on this game, but in their hearts and minds for as long as they remember him.
Rest In Peace H2orat, your ephemeral trip through this life has ended, but your glorious, eternal, spiritual-journey has just begun.

Speaking as someone who lost his mother to this horrible disease, I can understand what they are going through.

Why not both?
The DOFF as a tribute and his Foundry mission(s) as a memorial.
