Lead Content Designer Charles Gray shares details about the sixth Dilithium Mine Featured Project in this entry of the Legacy of Romulus News Dev Blog series.
These projects are just getting more embarrassing and lazy since Mr. Gray took the lead "content" reins. At least Goatshark gave us ikea tables and chairs we could actually sit on for the starbase. That little thing called functionality really goes a long way. Also, why are we paying for spaceship traffic at the mine when we already get that for free when a fleet base gets built up? I guess the mine wasn't monetized enough, yeah?
Oh no another optional project, begin cliche rage:rolleyes:
I don't think it's rage over the optional projects - it's just the cost for what you get - plus the desire for these project to be a little more - hmm -FUNCTIONAL
If they put out a 200k dilthium project that would let fleets put their fleet insignia as a Holo emitter in the main base - I don't think you would see anyone complaining
Or a neon message board that displayed the fleet message of the day scrolling by above their heads.
For that, I'd better be able to stop 'em for inspection. And inspection fees.

.....mobster ......shaking down freighters.....that's how it starts you know?..."Star Trek Online where you play a captain...then in time, a dirty captain"....
...although for 200k Dil I often wonder about a Return on Investment kinda thing.....
See, this is an example of a failed concept. This could have easily been used as a Mine Unlock to get rare and unique DOFF assignments from the freighter traffic.
Who spends time in orbit of their dilithium mine to even see this upgrade? If it weren't for the fact that the fleet shuttle annoyingly sends you to the mine orbit, forcing you to sit through an additional loading screen for no reason, I wouldn't even spend the few seconds I'm forced to stay there.
I know they are all optional but I would like to see fleets get something back
For this one it could be a random amount of items for the projects per day
For the extra staff one which would give a token amount of Dilithium per day to the fleet only for projects, the adding of the extra dilithium in the mine would add more to that total
The traders in the starbase project could give things also or a doff project to get something unusual on a crit
To me there's a lot of things that could be added like that that would give a more interesting feel to the fleet and actually give something back to make it look like a base with actual trading and traffic
"...'With the first link, the chain is forged. The first speech censured...the first thought forbidden...the first freedom denied--chains us all irrevocably.' ... The first time any man's freedom is trodden on, we're all damaged. I fear that today--"
- (TNG) Picard, quoting Judge Aaron Satie
I'm sure the bigger fleets will go for it, specially ones with good $ flow. However the KDF fleet I have don't have a mine open yet. The Federation and Romulan is like Tier 2 almost 3. And that is being shared with the Star Base projects. So very little they are growing. So I doubt I will see this project selected on the fleets I'm in.

At least they could have put the Type VII Commercial Laboratory instead of something that is just a generic placeholder ... better yet, put the Type VII on the C-Store as a Freighter type ship or is the lure on RNG gambling the only that Cryptic can make a profit?
