Who should be the Main villian for the Star Trek movie coming out in 2016. Klingons, Romulans?

Personaly I think it should be the Terran Empire from the Mirrior Universe.

If you think other wise post it below here.

    V'Ger...

I'd love to see how Abrams and the Bay-action crowd would remake TMP, aka the slowest movie in all of Trek...
Detecting big-time "anti-old-school" bias here. NX? Lobi. TOS/TMP Connie? Super-promotion-box. (aka the two hardest ways to get ships) Excelsior & all 3 TNG "big hero" ships? C-Store. Please Equalize...

I'd love to see their take on the mirror universe. That would be stupid, but fun.

Always wanted to see how they would do the Borg in J.J. Trek. But that would require a TNG era movie.

Would it though? Couldn't they just do a cop-out and say the alternate timeline allowed for the Borg to show up sooner? Not that I'm rooting for this - despite my mutual curiosity as to what it'd look like - but just playing Devil's Advocate.

Personally, they should have the Enterprise get stolen by a crazy Vulcan who wants to meet God...

And yes, that statement was dripping with sarcasm.

well technically the borg and v'ger were in "Star Trek" ie the first movie.
The borg as the Narada was modified using borg tech, and Nero used V'Ger to figure out when spock would arrive. I know none of that is shown. but it is implied and is shown in the comics.

but as for an new enemy. they are on their 5 year deep space they COULD show first contact with Cardassians or even they could stumble on the bajorian wormhole and the dominion or even dare I say it.. the care taker and the delta quad. or would be funny the "Q"...

They will skip everything and go back in time to get the whales. Except they will have the JJ prize with a cloaking device and then the death star will try to stop them.

I would love to see the Cardassians make an appearance, as long as they look the same as they did in TNG and DS9. The Dominion would be interesting, but IMO that would require too much explaining for a single movie.

"Critics who say that the optimistic utopia Star Trek depicted is now outmoded forget the cultural context that gave birth to it: Star Trek was not a manifestation of optimism when optimism was easy. Star Trek declared a hope for a future that nobody stuck in the present could believe in. For all our struggles today, we haven’t outgrown the need for stories like Star Trek. We need tales of optimism, of heroes, of courage and goodness now as much as we’ve ever needed them."

I'd be in favor of both, though I didn't care for the radically different look of the Gorn in Enterprise nor in the JJTrek video games. I'd ask they redesign the look to be a bit more humanoid, like the original appearance.

I'd like to see them simplify things a bit, get back to basics, and use the alternate timeline to tell an interesting story we've never seen before.

I'm primarily thinking of the Klingons. While we've seen battles with specific Klingons on Trek, we've never really witnessed the full-scale war.

I'd love to see a movie with a full-scale Klingon assault.

On a side note, I'd love to see Kirk acting like a great tactical captain. That's something that just hasn't been covered in the new movies at all.

Kirk has saved the Earth twice now, but he's still not done anything to make him the legendary captain of the original timeline, as far as skills in the command chair.

The first movie brought them together. In the second movie, Kirk learned humility.

Now it's time for him to truly shine, IMO.

Either Klingons (proper TOS ones), or someone we've never heard of. Lets try something weird like telling an original story instead of a rehash.

I do have to say I did go watch this most recent one and at first it seemed like a good movie but as it went on it just made me not want another one of his reboot movies. The only thing I could say I really liked were the Klingon ships we got to see. Other than that though unless CBS is completely clueless they will stop the rehash if they want to save the franchise at all.

I would like to see them do something new and original, instead of any kind of remake or re-imagining of stories we've all seen before.

To me, the whole point of the reboot was to create a blank slate - now that they have it, let's see them actually use it.
You're right. The work here is very important.

They have suggested it will be the klingons.

I would like to see Kang, koloth, kor, maybe even a young general chang make appearances.

perhaps have the klingons as a side problem while everyone deals with the main threat. defiantly needs to be a bit more exploring. Might be fun to see them stumble across a borg cube or species 8472 bioship or something.

Harcourt Fenton "Harry" Mudd...with the Klingons as background villains, and a rewrite to include not only the three appearances of Mudd (2x TOS, 1x TAS) but also the undeveloped third TOS story while also replacing Cyrano Jones from yet another story and also working in his daughter Mudd. With Jack Black playing Harry Mudd.

Kirk and the Enterprise was primarily about the Klingons. We've glimpsed at them in the two prequel movies thus far, but we've never seen a full scale space battle with Klingon Warbirds. I think that is what we need to see. An actual Fleet Battle would be brilliant, wouldn't hurt to throw in a second Constitution Class either (the Constitution herself; or maybe the Defiant?).

Failing that, I'd love to see JJ's take on the Tholians.

Yes, they could. But there's already enough foolishness from people raging about new Trek. If they did something that drastic the ragers will never let it go.

With ENT covering the borg and the cancellation cutting out follow up episodes I'd say they could bring them back without the Voyager nerf to them.

That was my very 1st thought when I saw this post... Mirrior Universe!

or maybe Q see's this altered timeline and wants to maybe help... and tests spock to see is Vulcan is worth bringing back... sends him on some dangerous quest... and the whole ship gets involved...

hmmmm... yeah could work, with the destruction of vulcan... it could have changed the path of the nexus in an earlier attempt to get in it... so he needs to destroy Earth or Andorria to get it back on track!

I think the logical choice for villain would be a Klingon. People mentioned Kor. That's cool. I just think the Klingon Empire should be the baddie. I love the thought of fleet on fleet space battles. Maybe the Klingons got ahold of that magic blood and are creating the ultimate klingon. Maybe Kirk gets married or has a child in this one and his kid gets killed....wait I know....

Have Bill and Ted show up in their phone booth to kidnap old spock to entertain us at a convention. BUT... spock had a vile of red matter in his pocket when they nabbed him so it opens a black hole where by everything in this universe is sucked into except for the enterprise and her crew because it has litterally the best thrusters and engines in the fleet. Spock, Bill, and Ted end up in Hell for trying to reboot Bill and Ted. Here they meet death, spock dies again, then is reborn again. They escape hell and try to get back to JJ verse but with no luck. So they have no choice but to return spock, not minutes before Romulus and Remus is destroyed, but 1 year. Here old spock and old old spock work out a plan to save the planets. All the while JJ verse Eterprise and crew is stuck in nothingness trying to escape their hell and damning Kurtzman and Orci for making thier engines and thrusters so strong. Then they die in a blink because both spocks plan worked. They saved Romulus and Remus, thereby bringing vulcans and their cousins together again. And the alternate timeline is destroyed, like it never happened until when everybody...... the next bright idea for a reboot is pitched. And it is already here. The reboot to a reboot and its rebooted sequel is going to be a prequel to ST2009. So its actually a prequel reboot to a reboot and its rebooted sequel.

I think the enemy should be 31st century humans- temporal agents come back in time to correct the timeline. The story could be written in a way that brings the timeline full circle, and the movie could end with Shatner and Nimoy flying off into the sunset aboard the original 1701. Causality loop closed.
