So Dan Stahl is talking Voyager. Its nice to see that members of our community have voted on a series I did enjoy despite some of its temporal mechanics growing tiresome quickly. He talks about possibly playing new factions with new ships. He briefly touches on possible ways of us traveling to the Delta Quadrant. But there are some things that are starting to really bug me.
First off the Intrepid Class Starship in-game. The iconic "Voyager" simply put, sucks. It doesn't compare to a temporal ship. It doesn't compare to a Vesta. This is something I've been disappointed about for some time. I would imagine if they added individually purchasable consoles for ships like the Intrepid, Defiant, D'kyr, Galaxy, Galaxy X, Raptor, Negh'var etc..... to give them an actual 3 piece set with set powers and bonuses like some of the newer released ships. Its possible that even though they are older they would somehow become more competitive as far as which ship a player chooses to fly. More importantly which ship a player prefers to fly. Competitively for PvE OR PvP.
Another thing is this whole faction business. I'm sure there are plenty of players like me who chose to play a Federation Captain, or a Klingon Warrior because we connected with each factions respective lore, species, ships, and philosophies from the show. Its a privilege to play as either or in game. Now we have the release of the Romulans. Ridiculously powerful damage. Crazy skills. I'm sure some Federation and Klingon players; especially the KDF players, feel like they've been passed by. They have superior this or that and the only way to compete is to become a Romulan in some circumstances.
My point is I play a Federation player because I enjoy being a Captain of the FEDERATION. I don't want to play a Romulan. I don't want to play a Klingon. I don't want to play a damn Borg! It is important to me that cryptic recognizes that some of us prefer our chosen faction. I think it's important moving forward that Cryptic understands that players who feel the same way as i do don't want to be forced to play another faction WE HAVE NO INTEREST IN. So keep the Klingons, Romulans, and Federation factions in line with whatever new flavor you have on the horizon please. And please look at the current state of the game. Compare the factions. Work to ensure that no one faction will be overpowered in any way to the other 2 or 3 when we get there. I would love to hear from any other players who share my same concern and passion. Here's to a long and prosperous journey with you all in Star Trek Online.
Let no other Captain discourage you from what you believe you can achieve in PvP. Debuffs and Disables be damned! Charge up your Backstep and Forge your build out of Lock Boxes, Consoles, and Flash Sales feeding off of only your pure will to chain, spam, and hax your way forward. You will not be forgotten to history.
If you are able to bring up a (hopefully long and detailed story line) why the Federation, Klingons and the newly created Romulan Republic should travel to the far away and still unknown Delta Quadrant, I am sure that you can stay with your chosen faction
The Federation struggles a multiple front war, with the Klingons and Borg as main threat. The Klingons on the other side are (according to the STar Trek "Map") "below" the ex Romulan Empire, so they would have to travel through it to enter the Delta Quadrant. Also, they are in War with the "mighty" Federation, and the Borg.
The Romulans on the other side are still in a civil war, and have to help both factions against each other to win the war.
All three factions need a sh*tload of crews, ressources and new technologies to stay competetive (Mainly the FED first, followed by the new, loved Romulans. The Klingons stay out of any update like the last 3 years)
Looking at the forgotten Federation-Klingon War in the endgame, both factions could start an offensive attack to the Heart of the Borg to finally draw them back.
So, both Factions could make a few fleets and start their way to the Delta Quadrant, finding new alliances, crushing small spezies which think they are better than the Alpha and Beta Quadrant Axis to finally show where the Borg belong to.
This would be one way. The one would be a new faction in the Delta Quadrant. Not many stood a chance against the borg, but like the KDF and FED, as well as low level Romulan ships, they will be able to defeat a Borg cube solo.
Throwing your ship to the Delta Quadrant similar like the Voyager, or even with Slipstream, it would really look even more unrealistic as STO already has gone if there are suddenly half of the Fleets of all 3 factions, just to explore and beat the sh*t out of the quadrant.
I for one look forward to lay the Smackdown on the Kazon, and their stupid hair, and stupid culture, and stupid race...and I just want to kill them all, god i hated them.
Oh you can't handle one little Intrepid class ship...*puts Tony Montana a voice* Well say hello to my Romulan friends
Then i shale wipe out all the Talaxians till they bring me the one they call Neelix, then he will be put to death for the crimes against humanity.

If it's not going to be a public Stake, I will defend him.
(I'm joking, I liked him, I would defend him if he is still alive)

I've say it before in another topic both the klingons and the federation have transwarp gateways to the delta quadrant. non of the 3 current factions can economically sustain the wars they are in. we move to 2410 and the federation and klingons go in a state of cold war while trying to fight outside threats (borg, tholian, iconinans etc) to ready themselves for a new offensive they will need to find resources.
to do this both become imperialistic in the delta quadrant. they need to conquer/colonize new worlds, find allies, fight proxy wars, piracy, frontier brawls, etc. all in the delta quadrant.
the romulans need resources to rebuild their society and fight the tal shiar so they will aid their federation and klingon allies for a piece of the action.
not even a long whined story is needed just move to the logical result of all that we seen in the game so far. however actually doing it can fill a campaign as large as the romulan campaign in LoR. ready the expedition, recruiting your first allies, setting up your factions delta quadrant HQ, and then unleash the 4x(explore, expand, exploit, exterminate) finally a task worthy of an admiral (who cant be bothered o stay in his/her office).
i see a new expansion to STO on the horizon
THE NEW CRAFTING SYSTEM IS TERRA-BAD First of all it's not even a crafting system! It's just a dumb game system that's nothing more than a glorified slots machine.
second the "special items" you hope will be the saving the saving grace are messed up to.
A voyager expansion should give us an upgraded intrepid class ship and an improved delta flyer. I'm trying to think of other voyager centered and delta quad items to go in both a voyager bundle for the z-store and the inevitable delta quad or voth boxes. I know my personal wants out of the voyager content would be the ability to add features to exhisting ships....they built an astrometrics lab, and a universal liberated borg officer. A bridge officer who can learn abilities of any profession, you would need to complete the entire season 8 story arch, but what a killer reward. I can't wait to see all of season 8
Still not getting tired of KDF screaming OP OP NERF THE ROMMIES so funny.
As far as the Intrepid goes its obsolete now, what it needs is the next in the class series you could argue that it has been with the Vesta release. If you want go retro then do it just dont expect retro to perform as up to date !
New factions playable really ? you mean independent from KDF or FED ? because I doubt it will be like that if it was easy and possible then the Rom's would have had that option (and should have it) I dont like having to choose sides its not like they have anything I want, snivelling FED's or cowardly KDF, yeah great choices !

Except anyone with any sense of objectivity KNOWS the Romulans are unbalanced. The KDF were never unbalanced, they simply had differing designs that focused on different aspects. It could be argued that the Federation have superior escorts and superior science ships, along with cruisers that can at least heal-boat.
What's going on with the Romulans isn't just some gripe over battlecloaking BoPs like Federation players had against the KDF. . .the Romulan capacity for firepower and versatility really IS unbalanced. Both KDF and Federation players tend to agree with this.
So please, keep your gibes about the KDF 'whining' to yourself.
I want to know what happened to the Robot guys in Voyager, did the sliver or copper win...did they make more....can we pew pew them....and I think they would be better enemies then the Voth, I want to make peace with the Voth and open a park, and then I'll be John Hammond...but i'll just wait and see what happens.
We don't want what the Feds have. We want the equivalent. We want fairer treatment. Concern, desire, greed to some extent, and passionate belief that the enough people would buy KDF items to make it worth Cryptic's while.

"Upgrade packs" after a fashion for the older ones.
Special ship specific warp cores, "computer cores", and new consoles tied to existing ships or upgrades for their consoles.

by this what i mean is i want to see actual different ships... not the same ship just reskinned and re-slotted...
With this pack i'd enjoy the Krenim Imperium....
The Temporal Weapon-ship (Science)
Krenim Warship (Engineering)
Krenim Patrol Ship (Tactical)
It would be the first time we ever saw a science ship LARGER than a engineering-class crusier
