For unknown reasons, many users of the game/forums keep bringing game bugs up in the scheduled maintenance topics. This is not the proper place to discuss such things. I realize that this may be due to a flaw in the users' patience systems. I myself am expressing this bug, in that I am reporting a bug with users, in a non-bug-report forum not owned by the (if any) creator of the users.
Removing something that the item was never intended to have in the first place, is not a 'nerf'.
They're handling a lot of content to push out. An oversight will happen from time to time. Sometimes it is a typo, sometimes it is a boolean set to the wrong value.
I wouldn't call it incompetence.
If it were incompetence, it would be systemic, and we would be seeing these issues happen much more often.
Am not even saying whether they are competent or incompetent overall.
Just not about this.
Seriously guys, go out for a walk, take a chill pill, and get some perspective. We get enough drama already without some of you guys manufacturing even more.
If you wanna get worked up about something, pick something that actually was intentional, like taking away our FPS views, or that long bug-list that keeps getting shoved to the bottom of the to-do pile year after year after year.
Wigging out over them fixing the unintended cloak is just getting rediculous.
What about the broken Ship Customization colour pickers? Currently, no matter what colours you choose nothing happens.
What about the broken Sovereign Bridges (broken since they were added to the game) where Bridge Officers sit on the floor right in front of the chair they should be sitting in? Is the reduced number of player Bridge Officers on the Sovereign Bridges intentional? I used to see about 10 of my Bridge Officers when visiting my bridge (the San Francisco bridge), now I only see about 6.
Maybe a fix for the game changing your selected DOFF Department Heads when you log in or change zones?
Then there's all the other bugs, issues, problems etc. Can we please get some sort of update regarding known issues?
Playing STO since August 2010
Playing Neverwinter since July 2014
And I think that if you are dim enough to fall for such petty marketing, then yet again, you deserve to feel rather sore from what you consider to be some nerf-bat. Or does everyone have to be guided through every aspect of this game and its promotions by hand like a child?
I find it amusing, almost, to see at what length people will go to defend Cryptic in this, and blame the player -- even to the point where their own arguments become too silly for words.
But yeah, no. The customer is not beholden to check, and/or question, the validity of a product offered by Cryptic. Gross and obvious mistakes notwithstanding (like advertising a C-Store ship for 2.5 Zen, whereas it's abundantly clear they meant 2,500), you, the customer, are not meant to enter a purchase with a suspicious mind, having to check various buried dev logs, just to make sure they haven't perchance changed their minds.
Your entire notion of 'It's the players' fault for being so naive to believe Cryptic!!' is rather absurd (and also, ironically, probably not really what you meant, either, as you're essentially calling Cryptic untrustworthy).
Our weekly scheduled maintenance has begun! We expect downtime to last for 2.5 hours and I will post again once it is complete. Thanks!
Cheers,

I hope you all looked at Captain M. Scott's engineering manual for giving time estimates this week. People were not happy last week when the time was extended at the last minute.

it has to be posted here because no one reads those part of the forums, and if they did we wouldn't be posting complaints about it in the first place if they was to fix the problems now would we.
but if it makes you feel better to whine about folks posting in the wrong section of the forums then whine on dude.

you are right, the whole game is code/programming, a 0 where a 1 is supposed to be, can make such problems, aslo, the elachi boff and console's slots/hullhp/shield modi, or not designed from scratch, they grab a line of code here, a line there, throw it in the blender, and the elachi monbosh is born, so a mistake is easly made, that doesnt make it oke, its still a bg error on the designers part, but, its nothing weird, or totally unexplaineble...
there to-do list is empty, they havent find any bugs lately, because the game is stable and everyone is happy, so they did start with improving some graphics, according to there master of the internetz the to-do list was finishd 3 years ago.
i have notice and sent in a report about it but it seems like there is no interest in it, when you have a weapon system in your inventory and you look at from there it will show you the dmg and dps, but when you scroll over it so it compares to what you are running currently, the values of the weapon(s) drop. example.....i a use phasers and the consoles for them, when i take one of my dual cannons and put it in my inventory it shows a dmg of 388 and a dps of 310.4 but when i compare it to my equipped items it then shows a dmg 283 and a dps of 226.4.......i have increased every stat that i could think of, and i have talked to my fleet mates and they have the same thing going on.....STO's response was this " Based on the information you've provided your issue may be the result of a game play bug." but no word on how fix such a mess???

if it ain't broke, why fix it?
there was nothing wrong with the old icons for pity sake.
and you feel this is more important than fixing the bugs that are currently in game?
mind boggling if you ask me.
seems that icons are more important eh.
oh, forgot to ask.
cryptic, when will you be giving fleets the option to purchase more fleet bank repositories?
Not on the game, no, on the users thereof.
