I'm curious to see what my fellow community members think would be interesting playable Factions. The two that specifically, for me at least, come to mind is Cardassian/True Way and Borg.
I say Cardassian/True Way for these reasons:
1. More playable races, for the current time a Cardassian Faction would include Cardassian's and Alien. If say, the Dominion wanted to help the Cardassian Union rebuild, why not have Vorta and Jem'Hadar added as playable races to a Cardassian Faction. Perhaps even Tosk and Hunters, which would raise the player races to 6 total races that we know of and are interested in.
2. More diverse starships for the Cardassian Faction, it wouldn't necessarily be limited to the Keldon, Galor and Hideki class ships, and would allow for more breathing room for Cryptic designed starships by using Dominion and Cardassian, the pre-designed and currently used ships, you'd have a total of at least 6 or 7 vessels to have as a starting base and build from their. Creating unique vessels by using the starships as a base and working from their. With Keldon being "Legate" rank vessels or Tier V
3. The story can be based around the Cardassian Union's dealing with True Way forces as well as establishing relations with the Federation and Klingon Empire as a neutral party involved in the war. Ranking system can be a mixture of Jem'Hadar "Second ~name~" and Cardassian ranks "Gul ~name~" with the Tier V or Vice Admiral Rank being either "First" or "Legate".
And as for the Borg playable faction I have these:
1. A Borg player faction would be an excellent way to introduce the Delta Quadrant, say some survivor's from Unimatrix Zero. Player races could be Human, Andorian, Klingon, Romulan, Cardassian and even from Delta Quadrant races like Kazon, Ocampa, Hirogen ect. and would allow for some interesting Roleplaying for some players.
2. Borg assimilated starships, you have a set number of ships from the current player factions, at this date 8/20/2013 we have total of 3 player Factions. Take the Warbird line from the Romulans, say the Battle Cruiser line from the Klingons and the Science line from Federation and make assimilated forms of the starships giving them unique weapons and layouts as well as skins. This can also be used to supplement Borg specific starships, say Tier V aka Vice Admiral level are Cubes, maybe Tier IV and V are traditional Borg ships while I - III are Assimilated vessels.
3. Story can be focused around the Liberated Borg's attempt to survive and evade re-assimilation into the Collective, by either keeping on the move or making allies with various Delta Quadrant species. Ranking can be in a matter of Designation say, as of now only 5 total Tiers exists with ten ranks per Tier, and example being " 2 of 10", "15 of 20", "22 of 30" ect. with "50 of 50" being the highest Rank. Title's can extend from Drone to Perfection or whatever equivalent, with the Borg Queen's actress, Alice Krige or Susanna Thompson providing the level up "Congratulation's Drone, 2 of 10"
These are all merely fan thoughts and idea's and are NOT to be taken to heart, just some thoughts that came into my mind at some point and I was curious to see what the rest of my Fan brethren thoughts and ideas were. Look forward to seeing any and all comments and idea's!
Any new playable faction would have a choice between being allied with the Feds or Klingons. As far as Borg designations, it is completely random. Once stuck with the name, then the only way to change it would be to be transferred elsewhere. There could be millions of Seven of Nines, but only one Seven of Nine, Tertiary Adjunct of Unimatrix 01.
They're not going to make a third standalone faction and the Federation and Klingons are not going to ally with terrorists...and Klingons are not going to be a ally with Jem'hadar.
I don't see the Liberated faction borrowing all of the factions various ships...
Can't have a honest conversation because of a white knight with power

I can see why you'd think I meant they would be a True Way faction that was FAR from my thought's, though, my wording was likely incorrect. It would be a story related kind of thing, like the Dominion is forming diplomatic relations and as a show of good faith sent supplies and the likes to help rebuild Cardassia.
It was not intended for the Cardassian Faction, at least my idea of it, to be a True Way Faction. I only meant to use it as a way of explaining my thoughts, which was likely an error on my end and I apologize for the confusion.
As for the Liberated Faction idea, it was a very loose thought that only popped into my head while writing it down, looking back it doesn't make nearly as much sense. But with the limited number of Borg ships we've seen, that should they make a Liberated faction would likely be used in some fashion, are Spheres and Probes.
I personally doubt that they would end up using Cubes if only because the scale of the vessels is SO large that it would be extremely difficult to create a balanced ship out of the Cube. Maybe not using all of the faction ships but doing something similar to the Tal Shiar Adapted vessels, not using the exact same ships parse, just using the models with some Borgified looks to them.
I personally feel there isn't a guarantee that they wouldn't make a standalone Faction like the Federation and the Klingon Empire, how long did it take for them to reveal that the Legacy of Romulus was a Romulan Faction, given that it was a Standalone only until level 10 or so but another faction none-the-less.
For something big like the Delta Quadrant, I'd like to hope that they would create a stand alone Faction like a Liberated Borg. Take it how you will but this is just a general outline of how I feel these two Faction should at least loosely work.

I do see your point in that and I agree with you. If it were a Liberated faction I could see them cease using their Designation in favor of their own names. Thank you for pointing out the flaw in my thoughts, it is much appreciated!
And for the choosing a side in the way thing, I'd sortof like to see them make a Full stand alone Faction since I could see a Liberated Faction being linked in with the opening of the Delta Quadrant. If you have read through sorceror01's own thread on his thoughts of the Liberated Faction it's far clearer than my own thoughts. And is more fleshed out and specific compared to my general idea's.
We don't want what the Feds have. We want the equivalent. We want fairer treatment. Concern, desire, greed to some extent, and passionate belief that the enough people would buy KDF items to make it worth Cryptic's while.
Oh...my god, I cannot beleive I actually completely forgot about them....especially since I JUST replayed those Feature Missions when I restarted my KDF...wow I feel stupid.

If they didn't make the Romulan faction into a full faction and it was the most popular faction after Feds and Klingons, then they won't make a third full faction.

Of course you'll forget them..... again. No matter how many times that door is opened people see to just not notice it. You guys so keen to play "bad guys" liek the Tal Shiar or the KDF... Did the Breen not offer the most compelling decimation to the Federation, and Romulan Star via the Dominion War or not?
Nobody want to be Breen.... They just want the ships. -_-

Forgets the Rogue Breen -_-
