For 100 Zen a person could test a Zen store ship for one day. "Kick the nacelles" I suppose. They could use their own gear but the gear would be returned to their inventory or bank in case they forget to remove it from the ship.
I think it would help people avoid buyer's remorse on a ship and Cryptic would make a little something off of the testing and get some feedback from a larger percentage of people about the ships.
I guess there would need to be other rules like you can't test the same ship more than 5 times or something too to avoid people just test driving the same ship over and over.
And the rent is 1/10 (10%) that is 250z but only 7 out of 10 (70%) buys the ship they loose money. (and with more than one ship that will be maybe 4 out of 10)
They are NEVER EVER gonna do something for the players without making money on it!
And in another aspect if a ship really isn't that good the word of how bad that ship is would probably make them loose even more money on people not even trying it out.
I tought you could test ships on the tribble server
Yeah, you can simply just transfer your character to Tribble and test whatever you want. If you spend Zen in the Tribble server it doesn't subtract on Holodeck, so you can buy and test anything you want there even if it's not on the testing console list.
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.

2. Agreed and I love this idea
3. People can "rent" the ship as much as they want, after 25 times a they would've been able to buy the ship and after they overpaid
Awesome money grab idea

If we speculate:
A ship costs 2500z.
And the rent is 1/10 (10%) that is 250z but only 7 out of 10 (70%) buys the ship they loose money. (and with more than one ship that will be maybe 4 out of 10)

I say.. Not going to happen.
