Higher rank Universal ships for feds

jojobejojobe Member Posts: 88 Arc User
The only universal ships with high ranking officer slots are tholian vessels. I would like to see more federation ships with this build that you can get from the store. I use federation science ship.

The Odyssey pack, the Vet ship, and the Vesta bundle all have Lt Cmdr level universal slots.

The Tal Shiar Adapted Battle Cruiser also has a Cmdr. Universal station.

Besides, Federation ships are already quite good across the board (not to mention the number that there are), what else could you want to even do with them that requires more universal stations at all?
I remain empathetic to the concerns of my community, but do me a favor and lay off the god damn name calling and petty remarks. It will get you nowhere.
I must admit, respect points to Trendy for laying down the law like that.

Federation players wanting MORE Universal BOFF slots and retain ALL the benefits of a normal ship, while the Klingon BOP pays severely for the Universal BOFF stations.

    Wonderful.

The Vesta seems like the ship you are looking for! Problem solved?

    Wonderful.

Don't group ALL Fed players with this guy. Every Fed player I know would probably agree that between the Vesta and the Odyssey, and to a lesser extent the Kumari, his argument is pretty much invalid.

OP, lockbox ships are relatively rare and special for a reason. Nobody else gets those kinds of abilities.

As a Federation player, I wouldn't mind a BoP conversion for us, with the same weapons (or equivalent) and limitations. Having made LG recently flying BoPs, these are extremely powerful ships, despite their limitations, once you get them set up nicely.

I don't necessarily want a clone of the BoP, but it's been shown numerous times that Federation vessels are "customizable", if you will, in regards to bridge officer and console stations, and it would be nice to see that reflected in the game.

I'm always for more options for the players, though, as I think that choices do nothing but enrich the game universe.

If the Federation got a BoP equivalent, people would very quickly start complaining how weak the class is, and how idiotic people's complaints about the BoP's 'overpowered nature' were. Despite the universal boffstations, it is limited to doing hit-and-run maneuvers due to its relative inability to tank. This basically paints the class into a corner, making it useful for hit-and-run alphastriking and hit-and-run sci-spamming (VM, Sensor Scrambles, etc). It can't fill the role of a healer because it's too easily killed, and it can't slug it out in a fight.

Then you've gotta take into consideration the roles that it COULD do, but are done better by other ships available to the KDF. Stuff like the standard escort roles, the roles filled by battlecruisers, and the roles filled by science ships.

Lastly: One could make the argument that the KDF BoP is essentially the last real exclusive concept the KDF has left. The battlecloak has been sold off, the battlecruisers have been sold off, the universal consoles have been given away, and the carriers have been sold off. That BoP is all that's left that truly differentiates the KDF from the Federation and the Romulans. . .the Federation shouldn't have it.

Quite true, but the BOP idea has been sold off already: T'Varo, and it's actually better at Hit & Runs AND sustained fighting than the KDF BOP.

Honestly, the Risian Corvette is basically that. It pretty much has BoP-level hull, shields, and turn-rate. I've seen a lot of people doing well with them, but also a lot of people who just whine about how much it 'sucks, because of how squishy it can be.

I pretty much agree with everyone Timezarg has said here. Feds really don't need any further ships atm, because anything the KDF can do, the Feds can usually do better. And even if they can't do it better, they indirectly can do it better through just rolling a Romulan toon and making it a Fed-Rom.

I was referring to the 'all universal boffstations' concept, which is still unique to KDF BoPs. It's less of an edge than it used to be, but it is there. I'm fully aware of just how effective the T'Varo is, especially with that accursed Singularity Jump ability.
