Game unplayable since todays patch

Since this is a patch issue I am listing it under the bugs section and not the graphical error section. After today's patch full screen (2560x1440) mode is displaying horizontaly compressed with about 3" of unused screen on each side on a 27" monitor. In the video options the size appears to be correct with 2560x1440 selected. Another thing I noticed is I have to click the mouse pointer about 2-5" to the right of the option I am trying to select on screen. It will display correctly in windowed mode but that is another issue. Windowed mode has always had poor performance for me in sto with horrible tearing, freezing and just generally low framerates...unplayable. vsync is on.
Hardware I7 ib, GTX680, 32gb ram, Samsung 830ssd's.
No issues on any other game today and never had a problem with sto till today.
End results game is now UNPLAYABLE.
