One thing, amongst many things I suppose, that I get a bunch of flak for is saying to not fly a BOP like an escort.
You get 20 seconds out of cloak, vulnerable, before cloak comes back up. So all you need to do is figure out what abilities maximize your chances to be able to hit that cloak as soon as it is available.
I spent a looooong time in a heavy BOP with only Mk X gear. Then when the rep system came out I got fully into MK XI KHG. And about 2 weeks ago I got MK XII. Don't worry on the gear. Except for 3 Piece KHG. BOP, gooooood to have that 3 piece.
Anyway it is what you do during those 20 seconds that determines what happens to you. Here, watch this!
1.a Just as an fyi to those who watched the time you were attacked from behind, changing to a 25, 25, 50, 100 or 25, 50, 25 100 or 25 100 50 25 or 25 50 100 25 or 25 25 100 50 preset depending on battery/etpx is better than leaving 100 points in weapons power while flying defensively.
1b.In the case in the video I'd have had a 25 25 50 100 preset for defensive flying since there are 3 Boff abilities that do better w/high aux and piloting is used to avoid damage rather than tank it w/high shield power.
2. Max aux may have helped w/the fomm as not all tacs spec in sensors.
3. If the eng battery was on cooldown and/or no epte, I'd use 25, 25, 100, 50 then switch to the 25, 25, 50, 100 when cloaked.
In short think about presets for your builds and use them as needed.

This. I'm focused on that 20 second window. That's enough time for 2-3 passes on the target (or, if not much is gonna be shooting at you, you can kill the engines a bit and buzz around behind the target for a bit). The tactic is great with 2-3 skilled BoP pilots working in tandem.
EDIT: After watching yet another Thissler video, I'll admit this freely: Thissler is a better BoP ambusher than I :P I still get a few kills, at least, but Thissler is much more effective at it. That video gives me a few ideas I wanna try. . .

Wasn't bad, though the slow mo combat after the "Big reveal" was kinda stale... in that it was pre-LOR slow mo.. where you could still use Go down fighting when ever you please and not have to wait till you were at 50% or less hull.
And dun worry you waskly wittle Marmot, I'll decloak you again in another TRIBBLE N' Splode. Just like I'm sure you'll find me and make me Splode for it.
on a fully geared romulan, its only a 12 second window, your ambush lasts 15 seconds, your ambush damage and crit levels are sky high, and you have almost 30% more defense.
romulans can make klingons look like total ambush novices. :rolleyes: its not so much warbirds on line, as it is rom boffs online at this point
