Interesting that they would name the ship after Admiral Jarok. In the eyes of the Star Empire he was a traitor, but would the hippy Republic consider him a martyr for peace?

I think if they named something after him, they'd name a new ship/shuttle design after him and not rename an existing one that he used some 40 years ago.;)
    I think it's more likely it's an internal Cryptic-designation.

I hope thats what both of those are, that would make an awesome destroyer for the roms.
New home of the Romulan Republic.
I have an idea for what Season 11 should be; Season 11: The Big Bug Fix.
I have not been able to read my bug tickets in over a year, not even the tickets about not being able to see my tickets.
I find the drama of your signature proof of your immaturity, this means you, DR whiners.

According to the URL link one can see when right-clicks and selects 'properties', they are, as I noted in earlier posts, indeed shuttles and the one that has a similar image to the Romulan sci vessel from TNG is listed as "xromulanvetshuttlejarok" at the end of it's URL.

Funny thing, actually. The first one is listed as "jarok", but the second one is listed as "talon". I'd expect that at least one is a working name.

Both titles reference the same TNG episode. Jarok was the fellow flying the scout ship, and the Talon class was the name associated with the class if memory serves.

That depends on which non-canon source you use.
"Armada" called it "Talon", Decipher's RPG called it "Theta", the Card Game called it "Lanora", "Birth of the Federation" called it "D'renet".
Take your pick none of these were onscreen names.;)

All true. I was just trying to point out that despite potentially carrying two different names, the original source (IE: the first appearance of the ship) still linked the two names to the same ship.

I'm sorry, but I'm not sure I understand what you mean...could you please explain a bit?
What do you mean by "first appearance" and "original source"?

    Certainly.

The scout ship first appears in the TNG episode "The Defector". One of the class names attributed to that ship is the Talon class (not in that EP mind you, but by apocryphal sources). The character that said ship was carrying in that episode was named Jarok.

Thusly, image file names referencing both the Talon and Jarok names while showing the scout ship are therefore not crazy, nor do they necessarily reference variants since both names reflect back to the same original appearance of the ship. It may be nothing more than a Trek nerd being a Trek nerd in his/her file naming conventions.

Or in other words: don't read too much into the file naming since both names/titles can be traced back to the ship appearing on-screen.

Not quite: the first is the scout and the second is the science ship. They have different front and rear parts.
Those are two different ships even though they recycled parts from the scout ("The Defector") for the science ship in "The Next Phase".

If you right click over the image and open in a new tab ... you'll see both have "vetshuttle" in their names.

Don't know if it holds meaning or not ... but honestly ... It's the vet ship (larger) I'm interested in ... not the shuttle / sci / scout ship.

Ah, you meant its first appearance in the episode...that clears it up, thanks.
Funny thing is it's also its only appearance even though it's presumed the ship in the previous season 3 episode "The Enemy" was of the same type.
But we never saw it...because it was dark, the Romulans blew up the ship and probably because there was no budget to build it.

Anyway, yeah the question is of course why it was named "Talon" (espcially since it's the ship from "The Nxt Phase and NOT from "The Defector") and by whom. Cryptic, or the guy who wrote the article.
And whether the ship ingame will carry the same name.
The "Venture" class from "Armada" is for example a far different ship than the "Venture" class in STO. So Cryptic doesn't follow other games' naming conventions anyway.

    http://massively.joystiq.com/2013/07/08/captains-log-interview-with-star-trek-onlines-al-rivera-part/

So, according to Massively's Terilynn Shull (confirmed in the comments section under the article), it looks like our Romulan Captain's Yacht will be the Scout/Science Ship. Also we get our first look at the Romulan 1000 day ship.

I'm impressed, the 1000 day ship is very sexy, and the Romulan Scout has been a favorite of mine since it was first on TNG. I guess my only dissapointment is that the Romulan Scout will not be a 'full fledged' ship, but at least it will definitely be my small craft on the Rommy side.

Here's hoping the vet ship will launch soon! Plus I hope the transformation is more like the Chimera than the Peghqu'.

They dont tend to give out images like that unless something is almost upon us. I think the fact we have it means its imminent. I think we could see it this week or next.

Just my pure speculation of course.

Given that you're asking about two types of ships that are related to time travel there's a certain irony in your question.:)

Given the second part of your question...are we actually getting one of those?
I mean currently we're getting either the Ambassador or the Kamargh...do they actually intend to change that? I never heard anything about this topic..but then I could've totally missed it.

Please give the Vet ship 10 console slots, or a fleet upgrade version : otherwise it would become a hangar queen :P

The vet ship looks awesome. Scout ship as captains yacht ? Ah well...
But I'm really unhappy about the science ship. I was waiting for it's release as regular/refit/fleet ship. :(

Would make sense especially with the new uniform pack except for one detail. The article on massively said would give info on the pics next week, would be kinda moot if they released the info after the ship was already released.

But you never know...wouldn't put it past them for this week.
