I have played STO for quite a long time and never had issues with crashing. Nothing has changed or altered in my system. Ever since the patch where the Risa even was added I am crashing two to three times a day. I have verified files and even reinstalled the game. I have force verify on and everything else that is suggested in these pages. I have crashed more since the last patch than i have in over two years of playing this game. in fact many times over more. maybe 3 or 4 crashes in two years to 2 or 3 crashes a day in the past two weeks.
is this just me or are others having this problem?
I've been having crashing issues as well. I use an old computer, but still within the specs, and had no such problems prior to LoR.
I've discovered most of my crashes since LoR installed are related to zone changes, which also includes things like going to the ship's bridge and transitioning to a solar system. In all these cases, I've realized having a window open onscreen increases the likelihood of crashes, and if I have the DOFF window open, I can guarantee a crash. (I've a bad habit of trying to conduct DOFF business while autopiloting). Taking a moment longer to close all windows, except the window where my First Officer states we're authorized to jump, pretty much clears up the problem.
There have been a couple of crashes where I'm just sitting parked in subspace, but those represent maybe 5% of the crashes I've encountered.
Not crashing quite that bad, but I have crashed probably 4 or 5 times since the Risa event began and I crashed maybe twice in the past year before that. This past Saturday and Sunday were horrible. Massive lag and rubber-banding and the occasional crash. Things went ok tonight.
