The Akira-class was designed as a torp-boat carrier. (Not as a ship build, but I mean the way the ship itself was designed)
But if you look at what the ship was supposed to be, it was a "do it all supership".
A fighter-carrying torpedo battlecruiser with 15 torpedo launchers and 60 or more fighters...or to sum it up the ships would need to be bigger on the inside than the outside for all the intended stuff to work.
Just like the "intended" 1500 Scorpion fighters on the Scimitar, because some designer came up with totally ridicilous specs doesn't make it canon...or the producers or the studio need to feel bound by it.
The drones 'imitate' a class of the enemy faction. Incase of Borg, the probes. In case of Tholians, mesh weavers; in case of klingons, I believe BoPs; And federation; miranda frigate.
They are drones.. not ships itself. There's a difference :rolleyes:
I don't know the mechanic behind it, but in the end we have allied borg probes fly around in STF missions. I don't care if they are just mimics, that's what I see and what annoys me. By the way, I doubt that Borg would be fooled by visual mimicry. And since they fire right away they blow their cover instantly. Then it doesn't make any sense that they stay "cloaked" ... worst. idea. evar!
