Why does the Scimatar get access to federation frigates and the feds don't?

Just curious at the irony that the Scimatar's Drone ships can take the forms of Federation Frigates like the Miranda and NX, effectively giving them the federation frigates fedation carrier captians have been begging for while the feds not even have that much access to them and the Scimatar isn't even a full carrier!

Anythoughts on this?

    I will hop in my miranda and follow you around like a hanger pet. I think that is the best you will get. :)

    Hey, where'd those Borg Probes in ISE come from? And why are they shooting at the Spheres?

    Oh, I guess the Scimitar has Borg carrier pets, too. I look forward to a complaint thread about this.

    Drone pets have "holo-emitters" allowing them to mimic other ships... didn't anyone watch Enterprise? Maybe a stupid question on my part there....:P

    So they aren't Federation Frigates at all but Romulan ships with a hologram. Guess the Scimitar doesn't have access to Federation Frigates.

    The Romulans getting something cool doesn't mean the Federation needs a copy of it.

    Yeah and some people can have a whole fleet (Photonic fleet) and actually be an Admiral where as I am stuck with this single vessel all the time, no better than a lousy Captain!

    They aren't real!!!!!!

    So far for Fed mimicking I've seen NX, Miranda and Kumari. As far as abilities go, they don't gain new abilities over what they already have from taking a new form, the only change is that their energy weapons change to match the faction they mimic, so when they change to Miranda and NX, they fire phaser beams. If they change to mimic Borg frigates for example, they fire plasma beams and so on.

    *I know they mimic the ship, but its still closer then federation gets to fed frigates.

    I'm not suggesting they give the feds thier own drone ships, give them thier own frigates.

    Maybe constitution class :p two birds one stone, useful constitution at t5 abit as a pet ;p (tongue in cheek).

    And borg players can complain when there is a borg faction.

    Oh wow, I had completely forgotten they had the holographic technology in the shows. Wow, that's cool that it made it into the game! Guess that means that I wasn't just mixing up the pets with Borg Probes, they actually were imitating Borg Probes.

    the pets can change thier appearence, and the apperance of thier weapons to match that of thier enimies..

    It's an appearance change only! Should go read the blog!

    The weapon change isn't appearance only, they will mimic whatever weapon type is appropriate, including procs.

    It's only for their beams, though, they will always fire plasma torpedoes.

    The Scimitar's Drone ships do not give them access to Federation Frigates. Holograms dont count, there are no special abilities gained. It's like saying the Federation have access to play as an Undine ship (via the Undine Nicor holo emitter), which is obviously a silly thing to claim.

    On that note, NERF PLAYER UNDINE SHIPS, THEY ARE TOO OP!!!!

    See, silliness, that's all this thread is about :)

    Another point, obviously if the fed's were to get frigates, the devs will need to develop such hanger ships. If the Romulans already had access to Fed frigates, such development would be unnecessary. So another point why this is a silly topic :)

    Be warned Drone ships have fire at will 3. They can decimate enemy fighter screens in an instant. Drones are even a threat to bigger ships too they are powerful things. No wonder the Scimitar only has one hanger. If they had two a single scimi would be able to solo an stf.

    That holo-emitter thing is confusing. I keep getting heart-attacks in KASE when I see a probe hovering around the vortex, only to burn my way there and realize it's a bloody drone-ship from my teammates Scimitar...

    As for frigates alot of the work has been done, they can use the drones animation for fed frigates, but set up its own states. In effect to create the drone ships they had to make a bunch of different hangar pets at least visually.

    Honestly it's the Thalaron pulse from allies in KASE that has scared me more than once. I'm a bit used to it now but having the guy behind Donatra start a Thalaron pulse had me hitting every speed boost I had.

    Haven't had the Probe problem yet.

    ....this...this is to funny....

    ...On the same note - in ISE I saw probes floating around the Transformer, panicked when I saw probes('cause it was Elite), and panicked harder when I couldn't fire on them...I typed something....then the team did a huge eyeroll on me......I had to laugh at myself......:D

    ...Back on topic - I dunno.....since the Scimitar can get frigates and I don't have to already have a super rare ship - or slog my way through another toon, I'm happy I finally get to at least try this carrier thing with a faction I like.....

    I was in a game and someone was flying a Scimitar and activated their Thalaron Pulse and another player got scared and used Tractor Beam Repulsors and pushed Donatra's ship causing the Thalaron Pulse to go to waste.

    I want a ship that can launch borg probes! We need a Liberated or Adapted carrier that can launch probes because the drone ships can look like probes so I'm whiny.

    Also, when you can explain how a whole frigate could fit inside a hangar bay, let me know. Birds of Prey are at least small enough to be plausible, especially with the fold-up wings, but a Miranda?

    er yes they do get torpedoes, there equiped with Plasma Torps and HYT.

    The Akira-class was designed as a torp-boat carrier. (Not as a ship build, but I mean the way the ship itself was designed)

    That's why I don't do STFs anymore. Everyone and their mother flies a scimitar now and we have allied borg probes everywhere. This is so damn stupid :D

    The drones 'imitate' a class of the enemy faction. Incase of Borg, the probes. In case of Tholians, mesh weavers; in case of klingons, I believe BoPs; And federation; miranda frigate.

    They are drones.. not ships itself. There's a difference :rolleyes:
