Can someone provide some screenshots of both the Explorer and Beachcomber outfits. =^.^=

So far I bought the flower pack, which despite lacking colors is kind of Ok, and I will certainly buy other packs too.
(I'm a a clothes collector .. but I will have to limit these to one toon :'( .. way too expensive (vs time)).
As I read since 2nd day patch that the Beachcomber outfit now comes with the Explorer shirt, what is left in the Explorer pack ? (from screens I thought Beachcomber was the short and Explorer was the shirt, if not, what pants come with the Explorer pack ?)

    ----
I had to create an Orion Girl to have a summer/vacation feeling (will probably delete her after the event) .. please give other races a way to enjoy their vacations .. pijamas and armors are so wrong on beaches and dance floor.
    * Summer wears could be limited to non combat zone .. but Pijamas and Armors must be banned from Risa *
Please, help us have a great summer by making decent clothes.

Its a shame when the clothing articles are not designed to work with other, already existing articles in the wardrobe, I hope they make some changes... perhaps along the lines of what the folks over in Guild Wars 2 have done with making the articles mesh together better... for instance if a pair of gloves normally has a wider cuff that would bleed through the sleeves of a jacket, the gloves cuffs vanish so the sleeve covers them and you don't see the gloves cuff anymore.

I personally would like to have seen some of the bikini's the NPC vacationers are wearing as purchasable sets... again, its an 'Off-Duty' outfit, so you wouldn't be wearing it during a fight, but it would have been nice to work for that.

At this point, I am just interested in raising my birds. The jet pack, well, its no good anywhere but on Risa, so for me, no point in getting more expensive versions since I do just fine with the cheapest one.

Actually, I was more worried about the Explorer outfit as since 28thJune patch it is said that the Beachcomer comes with the explorer shirt.
I have seen the Beachcomer shorts and the explorer shirt, but wondered what pants/other parts comes with the explorer pack and if it does worth the grind if you have (or plan to have) the Beachcomer/Short pack ?

Note: about NPC wearing stuffs, my experience shown that you should never believe what NPCs are wearing (especially for colors or the possibility to combine some parts)
    * NPCs clothes and player clothes are from two distinct universes, any resemblance between NPCs, promotional pictures and players outfits is purely coincidental. *

The Explorer is definitely NOT worth it.

The pants are a reskin of the "Loose Knee High" pants available for Fed uniforms. Basically loose pants tucked into the boots below the knee. Yes, that means below the knee, even if used with boots that don't come that high. And no, the Explorer boots dont come that high. Also, you can't wear the Explorer boots with any other pants, either.

They look obviously wrong if used together. The boots are useless since they can't be used without the pants. And the pants could be used with taller boots, but they're still far too ugly to be worth anywhere near 600 favors. Use uniform pants if you really need that pants-stuffed-in-boots look.

Correction: you can use the Explorer boots with the Beachcomber pants...still not worth it.

Is there any difference between the boxes now? (Explorer vs Beachcomber) I'm confused. I'm spent a great deal of time earning one of these (beachcomber) and don't want to waste time on the other if it's the same pieces...

This thread makes me laugh. Of course it's worthless (without worth) because it's free. Those of you who spent lobi and gpl, well, that's you're fault. It doesn't take a lot of effort to earn the favors. Man, you all would probably complain about a free ticket to a sporting event because the seats are in the nose bleed section.

The npc female one pieces look great its REALLY a shame we cant wear and just like salt in a wound to have to look at. Honestly should had dressed the npcs in the same ugly garbage we are there trying to grind out. It really is disturbing and mindblowing at the same time that WAY more effort was put into the npc outfits that we cant have access to.

It is easy to design a static outfit for an NPC. After all they don't go to tailor to mess it up, they don't have armor to care about, no show or hide options, they lack the large range of animations players have. It is very hard to prevent clipping and other bugs that in player's case. Designing an outfit for a player is a much much larger task, and I understand if they don't do it. What they gave us already has serious clipping issues.

Example: If I wear the explorer shirt, my EVA suit shows only on my legs, and my head is missing except the light on the top of my head. Now if I choose in the outfits my MACO one, and than click on show armor the generic MACO helmet shows up on my head, without a neck, above the risian shirt. So there's plenty of unintended customization.

I will play the devil advocate here. I saw a few peoples mentioned that the NPCs wear much better looking outfit. It a lot easier to create a relatively static NPC with is personal outfit than to create one that adapt itself for player characters that come in all sort of shapes.
What's even easier IMO is just designing tons of options for player characters and use all those for the NPCs. The devs wouldn't have to build any NPCs from the ground up then. They could just mess around in character creation like the rest of us do.

I was frankly very disappointed with the Risian costume options to the point I had to take steps to hide them. I had to use the flower bands on the ankles to cover up a glaring texture bug and the mercenary belt to cover a severe clipping bug with robes.

I don't think is acceptable that:

    1) A costume piece was released that clips with everything and I mean EVERYTHING! This goes for the Explorer Jacket and Risian Beachcomber Shorts. It is like the devs didn't think that the players would want to mix and match stuff. <NOTE: THIS HAS NOW BEEN RESOLVED>

    2) That two textures that are designed to go together and only go together don't even match up. You cannot get Caitian Feet without wearing Beachcomber Shorts and these shorts need the Caitian Fur option on the legs. It is staggering that not only do the textures not match, but they aren't even the same colour and look different in low light.

    3) How they allow Beachcomber gear to affect EVA suits is mind-blowingly bad. An EVA suit is a full body costume that covers all gear, so why is a shirt or a pair of shorts causing my head to disappear and most of the EVA Suit to not show? <NOTE: THIS ISSUE HAS ALSO BEEN RESOLVED>

    4) The aliens are touted as a big feature in STO. The Caitian and Ferasan races are also considered to be rather popular. Why are these races forbidden from wearing the sunglasses since they are just a prop item that sits over the nose? Was it due to the risk of clipping? That would be an irony!

The Risian costume options raise questions about the QA process in Cryptic's art department and it isn't like they can blame inexperience or engine trouble. This is the company responsible for City of Heroes, a game that had the biggest and most customisable costume editor in any game for it's time. They have had years of experience in costume editors, but these gaffes leave me wondering if they learned anything from the clipping and animation errors in COH.

We are left with a bugged and restrictive cash-grab of a costume editor instead, where spending currency on an item raises questions about buying it since the Risian costumes prove what you get may not even work with other items. I was pondering getting some Lobi for some lockbox costume pieces, I may not after experiencing the low quality Risian Rush Jobs. :(

I haven't read the whole thread, so this might have been said already.

both the shirt and the shorts are incredibly thick, so much so that it looks like my character has gained about 30-50 pounds. Considering my character is pretty short and small (read: petite), it's a noticeable difference going from the TOS shirts or even the Simple Shirt to the Risian shirt. And the shorts make her butt look almost twice as big as it normally would be.

None of you 'get' it. The Risian Explorer suit is a famous costume worn by Captain Picard in the TNG episode "Captain's Holiday". It's not supposed to mix with anything else. It's a fan collectible as-is. As such, it is brilliantly done. Moreover, it's a free gift.

Its not a free gift, you have to pay 600 favors for it. I don't care if Picard wore it in some episode I don't remember, its still butt ugly and looks ridiculous if worn without tall boots.

And as far as I'm concerned, all costume pieces are supposed to mix with all other costume pieces. Limiting our customization options for no good reason is just plain wrong.

To nobody's surprise, the Risian Explorer outfit is designed just for itself (on females anyway).

Does it work with the off-duty Merc stuff? Nope (massive clipping).

Does it work with ANY belts? Nope (massive clipping).

Does it work with scarves? Nope (massive clipping).

Do the 'pants' (just another texture of the UGLY 'poorly tucked into large boots' pants option) work with anything short exactly one footwear option? Nope. Unless you can explain the huge untucked leg parts just sitting there.

Is said retexture offered in Uniforms? Nope.

Can you use either the top or bottom on your BOFFs? Nope (although it does say Captain only, so I'm not surprised there).

Why the @#^!@ do we still have the pointless and annoying as all get out Uniform and Off-Duty division of things? REMOVE IT. And if it's CBS' doing, tell them to go stuff it.

Worthless worthless costume 'set'. And I thought the leftovers we got on CO were bad.
Its a shame it didnt work out for you, im enjoying it actually. Caitian Picard now has a Risa off duty outfit :Dhttp://catstarsto.deviantart.com/art/Caitian-Picard-Enjoying-Risa-383101862

Well, it costs 600 free favors that just take a few hours to get. It's irrelevant that you personally don't know or care about such a collectible. The fact is, that's what it is. However, it would indeed be nice if every outfit were designed from the start to fit with every other piece of every other outfit. If we were the Implementors of STO, we would make it so. Alas, we are but contingent beings. :)

Nothing is free, everything has been paid for in some way or another. Giving something away for free is no excuse for giving it away in a shoddy or incomplete state.
