Further to all the previous discussion if you want an idea of what the players are like who seek to defame Starfleet Dental the following video will help you understand. A player posted this to the thread complaining about the disco balls, yes the disco balls.
It starts out with someone attempting, and failing, to use voice changing software to sound like a woman. They then go on to show typical gameplay with a disco ball and complains that this is somehow harrassment. Towards the end are the death threats. Warning it's 20 minutes of your life you'll never get back.
Devian just ignore him, hes gettign what he wants, everyone needs to report.
Now if you want to TRIBBLE talk a fleet, do it the right way, make your own thread, me and some fleets dont get along with my mega fleet, but i dont go into their threads and start ****. Its very immature.
You make some good points and it is true, Dental is probably the worst thing for this game.
Dental's history with Cryptic goes pretty far back. Indeed, it goes all the way back to the days of Professor David Myers. He ultimately founded Starfleet Dental when this game was released, but they also had several guilds in City of Heroes before STO.
Dental is bad for the game because of all the people that have been and will be helped by them. It's true.
The recruitment rewards for selectees who make the grade are indeed generous, but I can't help but wonder how the fleet maintains this. If they can, more power to them.
When I have encountered Starfleet Dental, it has always been overwhelmingly memorable in a novel way. I will attempt to describe these encounters in a manner fitting with forums terms of service (TOS).
Anthony Burgess wrote 'A Clockwork Orange' in 1962. Later in life, on the topic of notoriety he was quoted as saying, "We all suffer from the popular desire to make the known notorious.", whose meaning I believe fits the fleet in question.
They thrive on this engagement; a self jeu d'esprit that at times looks to lampoon the very rules we wrongfully believe the game holds. This is not your Daddy's Star Trek.
My first encounter was on the Klingon Homeworld. It was early in my first few months of the game. I was looking forward to the roleplaying aspect of a klingon, and the immersive nature of meeting the Klingon High Council for the first time. What I experienced could best be described as a mugging from 'A Clockwork Orange', and that became a deciding element in abandoning Klingon characters altogether.
My second encounter happened while I was pugging an elite STF. The fleet member in question spent the entire time doing an impression of the novel 'COMA'.
That impression was repeated time and again by other members of said fleet. This work of performance art was criticized roundly by the critics in each PUG, and it still leaves a somewhat 'schweaty' aftertaste as I recall it.
I can only accuse them of bad performance art that takes away from the quality of the game.
Note that nothing I am recounting here, either my recollections of their actions or my comments, is against the rules set out by Cryptic.
To say that membership in their organization is not something I would pursue, would be both valid and a direction I would advise for you.
I have never heard anyone say 'I didn't get what was promised' from Starfleet Dental. But before you apply, chat up other people to see how they are viewed by the community as a whole. Don't take my impressions as a valid opinion.
Ask around. That will solve any question you might have.

If? How could we not. Many hands make light work, some of the hands are rather space rich. During one STF someone commented that there weren't any galors in team, which was rather surprising. I wasn't flying mine as I was in my bug ship instead. Due to the 1b ec cap we have stockpiles of lock box ships. The other thing to consider is what do you do when you have all the ships that you want, all the gear that you want and you need to set new goals.
I realise a lot of players won't relate to this but excess wealth from the long term players filters down to the newer players. Capitalism is used to fund socialism. Being greedy doesn't help a fleet as a whole. You see well equipped and well trained players make the content go faster which benefits everyone.
While you state "Note that nothing I am recounting here, either my recollections of their actions or my comments, is against the rules set out by Cryptic." You are quite incorrect. However, I don't file tickets against posts that aren't horrible.
You question was if we could do what we do. My question is why does your fleet not help new players with ec and multiple lock box ships?
I have never heard anyone say 'I didn't get what was promised' from Starfleet Dental. But before you apply, chat up other people to see how they are viewed by the community as a whole. Don't take my impressions as a valid opinion.
Never a truer word spoken, and something that any one would advise of any fleet. One thing I will mention here is "viewed by the community as a whole". This implies that you will find negative responses doesn't it.
However I am not a member of this fleet, I have played for over two years, and I am not a good player, and I have pugged. I am also a very passionate RP'er in short I am a "member" of this community.
I have never EVER seen any negative behaviour at all by this fleet, nothing at all that could incite this wholesale defamation and slander all over their recruitment thread. If your actions were a way to warn others away from them I am sad to say from a total unbiased opinion you have done the complete opposite.
Yes you have shown there are people in this community that you shouldn't even hazard to spend the time of day with, it's YOU. This thread fills me with a lot of feelings about this community that I didn't have previously, and many of them fill me with distaste. But my largest regret is that I cannot pin down the fleets or the people who have undergone this unhonourable hatchet job on a recruitment thread, so I can ignore you and warn others about your behaviour.
I also asked all the people in my fleet and many of them has either never heard of Starfleet Dental or didn't have any negative encounters with them at all. Strange then how they are SUCH a scourge on the community when all of us have no knowledge of this.
Recruits that find yourself here and are feeling like taking note of the uncharitable threads, here is a small piece of advice, take it or leave it as you wish.
Make your own opinion, and only ask people you trust. Be honest with yourself if you have had no negative dealings, nor have any of your friends...whose opinion is correct?
If the claims are true surely more of us would have been negatively impacted with them, and don't overlook the fact that the very behaviour they accuse this fleet of is apprent on this thread from them, yet not from the fleet in question.

SSO Fleet Understands that this is a game, that it's sole purpose is to escape from the harsh realities of life. Thats why we promise, we offer fun, frolics without the mandatory rules and structure. Come escape with us, we dare you.....

I'm pointing out that this is a veiled attack. You ask people to get other opinions of us. There are a lot of terrible players which literally form the cluster of stupidity which is zone chat. If you ask zone chat for advice you are not cut out for Starfleet Dental.
There are also a number of disturbed individuals who want to attack Starfleet Dental because we are what they wish they could be.
Saying that I have never experienced [__ this __], therefore it can't exist is a very 16th century view.
My view maybe 16th centuary, but evidence actually means that which is seen, and so far I have seen a lot of supposition, opinions and rumours, and no substantiated evidence to show those of us who have never heard of this fleet in any negative aspect, anything to support your accusations and claims.
It's not up to the recruits to have to find the evidence that this fleet is worthy of the treatment it is gaining in it's recruitment thread, it's up to you people who insist on attacking them to prove and substantiate your reason if they are indeed valid.
Yet over 6 pages and nothing....
Recruits I think you can safely say that because of the lack of any substantiated evidence that there is another underlying reason for their behaviour that has nothing whatsoever to do with this fleet, it's members or it's reputation.
As for making your own decisions talk is cheap, if no one can give you cold, hard evidence...
Then you feel this fleet is right for you, by god, go for it, and don't let anyone disuade you otherwise.

When I say we have crackpots trying to defame Starfleet Dental I trust that you will now understand.

It was better than Cats...

I have submitted your request to the pool of recruiting officers. Someone should be in touch shortly.
