Hello Captains!
As mentioned
here in the announcement of the "Upcoming Changes to the 'Ask Cryptic' Feature", we will be starting up a variety of new web article features that will rotate monthly.
For this month, we will be running the
"Pick a Blog Topic" web article feature! Maybe you've always wanted to know how a mission is made from start to finish, how voice over work is done, or something completely different. This your chance to get the inside scoop on a STO topic you've always wanted to know more about!
Please reply to this thread with your blog topic suggestions. We'll pick one of the submissions tomorrow and work on a Dev Blog about it that should be posted before the end of the month.
We're very much looking forward to what topics you come up with. Engage!
Cheers,
Brandon =/\=

How does something go from Systems to QnA and back to Geko? What does WAD mean?
What are the thought processes, what are the design and tests, ... how much time is necessary, will the infamous spreadsheet of doom handle it?.....
Bort used to run a segment "Mathed" give us numbers! we can handle it!

There appear to be a certain amount of players(I admit, I'm one of them) that think Cryptic is not very enthusiastic on the fixing side of the game (unless its massive game breaking errors). Make a blog about that to tell your side of this.
Thank you.
Methinks this very important topic (for a good chunk of players) will be avoided in favor of something fluffy and PR-positive.
Consider this my +1 for this guy's suggestion.
+1 to this.
+0.5 to this.
What they have planned for the near future?
Why do you never answer questions with a straight answer?
Vice Admiral Volmack ISS Thundermole
Brigadier General Jokag IKS Gorkan
Centurion Kares RRW Tomalak

Please tell us the story of a new game-breaking bug from the beginning at his birth, the way to the live system until his end - either by fixing it after announcing as fixed three times in different patch notes or by finally declaring it "working as intended".

Answer to #1: Dilithium Mine, indirectly. The difficulty of small fleets is by design - dStahl said so.
Answer to #2: Well, they've got [REDACTED] and [REDACTED] planned. Maybe a [REDACTED] later on.
Answer to #3: That's what they see as a straight answer.
How is "balance" designed and entered into code? Why must type of Ship X be better at Damage (or whatever) than type of Ship Y?
Is this nominal balance ever discussed with content design? It doesn't matter if Cruisers (and by extension, Engineers) are better at tanking if Tanking is never required by anything Content Design puts out.
And, as a side question: Would it be agreeable to make all new ships (and retroactively boost currently available ships) have at least a Lt Commander Universal Bridge Officer slot? This would be a good step in solving a lot of woes of people liking how a ship looks, but not the way it performs. And since most newer ships come with special abilities that only they get, you can design more of them (and maybe make them a little bit more powerful) if you really feel that ships MUST have some stark mechanical differences between them.
The STO Team spoke about possible solutions in both the April 2013 Ask Cryptic: http://sto.perfectworld.com/news/?p=875931 and back in the January edition of Ask Cryptic: http://sto.perfectworld.com/news/?p=800861 yet we're all of the player base are still left in the dark as to what solutions are being considered and any sort of a loose time line as to when we can expect some progress in this area.
The player's time is valuable and the AFK problem disrespects players who choose to play the game as it is intended. To me, the AFK issue really is an exploit that needs to be closed. If I found any other way in the game to harvest resources/dilithium without even touching my computer, it would be considered an exploit and my account status would be at risk for violating the EULA. Why is this not taken seriously by the Development team? Please bring your customers up to speed on what progress has been made in this area, or maybe a rough idea as to when we can expect this exploit to be closed. Thanks!
A Foundry or Exploration blog would be nice too.
"Critics who say that the optimistic utopia Star Trek depicted is now outmoded forget the cultural context that gave birth to it: Star Trek was not a manifestation of optimism when optimism was easy. Star Trek declared a hope for a future that nobody stuck in the present could believe in. For all our struggles today, we haven’t outgrown the need for stories like Star Trek. We need tales of optimism, of heroes, of courage and goodness now as much as we’ve ever needed them."

+1 but also how are ships designed, in terms of function, not aesthetics or art.
- Exploration and more detailed insight of the possible directions being considered for this by the devs.
- Crafting overhaul and what are the devs' ideas on how to make crafting a fun and usefull part of the game.
- PvP overhaul, general information about the time frame, the general ideas Cryptic has about this, the way the see PvP in STO and what are their ideas of how a better PvP experience can be implemented in the game.
Example: Comicbookresources has each week a different writer or Editors interview from Marvel. Week one a X-Men writer, week two a Spider-Man writer, week three the Editors..
Now there are dozens of different topic wishes you have to sort.
Just my 2 Cents.
or
Future of Exploration
or
Future of Time vs. Reward
And return it to pool in like 3 months period ?
My theory:
Since the Elachi are clearly connected to Iconia I think that the Hakkev we have been dealing with is NOT the real one but a 8472 doppleganger. The Romulans even after Hobus are still a major power on Rator 3 and had little interest in places like Virinat since it lasted so long in peace. Now with the split of the Romulans, the wars of the KDF and the Federation trying to keep some normalcy, and the Cardassian Union still healing.
They will come and get us.
After Hobus the Romulans were united till out of the blue...they became hostile toward other Romulans.
Please tell me I'm close
