As this is your first visit to the new forums, it considers you new :) Your join date shows June 2013. The "can't start a new thread until after a specified amount of time" is in place to stop spam bots -- it's a pretty short wait, and since we've put it in place, there has been virtually no spam. We're happy to remove this for you as you're clearly not a spam bot (and I just have -- log out and back in. I also made sure everyone else in this thread can make threads). Anyone else that's in this same boat who reads this message at a later date can send me a forum PM and I can manually remove the restriction.

    Thanks for understanding!

    Cheers,

    Brandon =/\=

I would like to be able to start threads also. I am not too good getting around computers, much less websites. I was hoping someone can tell me how to PM someone.

I am new to this whole thing. I would like to post a thread but I can not. I went through the FAQ's and tried the various tips there, but I got even more confused, especially the two types of accounts, Cryptic and PW account. If you could please help me I would be so grateful. Thank you very much.

Been around for a while, more than the three or four days most seem to agree upon, have visited the forums before now, but haven't posted so here I am. seem to have met most of the other requirements from wracking up some pretty good hours in game recently to purchasing a warbird's worth of zen to spend in the c-store. I've got a few questions I'd like to ask but don't want to log up another thread with them unless I can find an appropriate thread for them.

Was going to PM bran but can't seem to find a way to do so, so here I sit. Looking forward to getting out there and getting to know everyone.

Don't worry about it. If you never used the old forums, just use your PWE account here and you're fine. One post to the forum, wait 4 days, and you can start creating threads.

Thank you for the advice. I'm an old, old vet from way back when STO first came out. Haven't been around for a long, long time, came back and decided to check stuff out, but now can't post because not enough time has passed since I registered - over 3 years ago now... and yes, I realize it's referring to the date/time I finally logged back into the forums... I just find it amusing. I did merge my Cryptic and Perfect World accounts when PW bought Cryptic, could log into the game fine... just never checked the forums. My bad. Oh wells, guess I get to sit and wait for 4 days before I get to post a new thread.

Edit - how sad. "Join Date: Jul 2013" *cries* That should be like "Feb 2010".. lol
Edit #2 - heck, just to save some time.. maybe someone could be kind enough to answer this question:

    - Did the old "Patrol X Sector" quests get removed from STO?

I ask, because last time I played a Fed character, they got a quest to "Patrol the Vulcan Sector", with objectives to complete the patrol missions of 4 planets in the Vulcan sector. My new Fed captain (decided to start anew.. wasn't all that far in my old captains) is up to Lt5 right now and has not been offered this quest at all.. I can do the individual "Patrol X planet" missions, but no over-arching mission like there used to be.

Since I can't start a new thread I will also ask my question here.

I am at Boff limit but that two in reserve. I want to use them to "Train Up" my borg but the option isn't available when I use commission. They are Starfleet and I am Romulan who sided with the Federation so this should not be a problem. It even says that I should be able to in the dialog screen...

    Any Advice?

    Thanks in advance.

Why do I have to start out as a Romulan? I haven't actually started the game yet, so is there ANY chance that I could start out as a Human for the Federation?

I do / would prefer NOT to start out in the Romulan Star Empire. I want to be in the Federation as a Human, not as Dr. McCoy would say, "a pointy-eared, green-blooded, Inhuman..." LOL

Hello there, I too would love to hit the ground running, I would love to post a thread on the newbie board as I am completely new to the game and have a TON of questions I would love answered. Any chance you could clear me as well, as you can see that I am also not a spambot?

Since I'm not allowed to start a new topic, I post here...

I have a question regarding the interface purchases..

I have one Account, with currently 2 Characters.. The first ist already level 50 and from last year, and I'm bored with it since I have quite some stuff... I rather enjoy "building up"...

However, for this charakter I purchased

    - additional inventory slots
    - additional bank slots
    - 25 addtional duty officer places
    - duty officer pack

Now, I created my second charakter, and I noticed, that the seconds charakter on the SAME account does not have what I have purchased... While I can somehow understand it for the duty officer pack (since DO are not available from the start), but the rest is also charakter based ??? Honestly, that is really really greedy :(

Well, since I'm bored with the other charakter, I would delete it, and start all over... But what will happen to my purchased stuff ? Will it then be lost ? You can't be serious about that...

Is there a way I can keep the inventory and bankslots (and maybe the duty places) with a new character ? How can I set it "back" ?

Also, could someone please explain me how I can send Items with the ingame mail ? There is no option for an attachment... Or is limited to gold players ?

    Thanks for the answers...

    Cheers

C-Store items are either per-character or per-account. Things like inventory slots are per-character - and it's listed as such in the item's description so it's no surprise. If you delete the character you lose any items you paid to have specifically for that character. This is done to maintain some semblance of balance between Gold and Silver accounts.

As far as the mail, I believe the restrictions for Silver players go away after 20 played hours - it's the same restriction as posting a new thread to the forum. So when you can post a thread you should also be able to email some items to friends.
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.

Thanks for the info...I wait and see when I will then get free to post and mail... Technically, I played over 180 hours STO, but maybe not the full 20 h with the current character.. However, I'm also unable to send Items with the other account... Or is it, that I haven't mailed to a listed "friend" ? As I said, I can't even see a button "attach something"...

You might be encountering a bug if you have that much played time in. I'd send in a Support Ticket and ask why your Mail restrictions haven't been lifted.

Be warned that a Support Ticket can take 2+ weeks to get an answer. My list Billing Support Ticket took 9 days.

Since I can not post my own thread yet, I have a question I hope anyone can answer. I have a good sum of Borg Neural Processors and I am not going for the XII gear. However, it says I can trade these in for Dilithium. The problem is, I can not find out where to trade them in at. I have visited the Defera Invasion Zone and other borg related locations but no luck, any help would be appreciated.

As a recently new player, your forum software prevented me from posting here. As a spam prevention measure, I believe.

At a minimum, the forum's description needs updating.

    As it currently stands:
New and confused still? Got questions about Star Trek Online and how things work? Come on in and ask here! The Player Guides sub-forum can also be found here.

The obvious problem is, of course, that it's not actually possible for a new player to post here. I think it took a month, but I'm not sure. Clarifying that should be one of your goals.

Yeah.. I just today logged in on the forum but I've been playing STO for two years (100 day subscribing veteran too)... I wanted to ask where the screenshots save, they're not in
    C:\Users\Public\Games\Cryptic Studios\Star Trek Online\Live\Screenshots
There is no Screenshots folder within the STO folder.

Something else, I was under the impression that Romulans could use the C-Store ships of the allies (KDF or FED). Now I've discovered that I cannot use the fed dreadnought cruiser, defiant retrofit nor the multi-vector assault ship. I am allied to fed and a romulan vice admiral if you're wondering, Also It lets me use the Venture class, Rhode Island, Yellowstone and the USS Enterprise but no other fed ships I've purchased, Help?

Yes, this is ridiculous, the players that need the most help can't even post in the noob forum or ask a question in in-game chat.

I got stuck in a tutorial today, the one where you kill Borg drones. I can't hail and I can't go anywhere else. I spent a lot of time searching for answers and couldn't find any.

I guess the company just wants new players who get stuck to go try another game, since we can't ven ask for help. Other gaming companies can do this and still control spam, get a clue! You're just turning off new potential customers from the start.

I am confused on this as well. I have had my account for a while now and still can't create a new thread, so I will post a response here and see if the 4 day rule starts after your first post.

On a side note, my question is, can your character train in new skills from an NPC or other (higher level) player or do all characters of a certain class have the same, unchangeable skills? For example, all tactical officers have the same skills, it depends on how you allocate your skill points that differentiates your tactical character from another tactical character? If you can train your character (not your bridge officers) in new skills, who/what location is that available for Federation characters?

All playable Captains have the same Captain Abilities based on their Class. Those Abilities can't be changed. A playable Captain can only change his Traits and how he chooses to use his Skill Points.
