Game confused about ship for Boff

Hi guys,
I put this one up for a ticket, might end up that way anyway, since I didn't know I could post a new thread yet. Let's see if the community has any idea about this weirdness.
K, simple stuff. Just got a new ship, it has five boff available. My old ship had four boff. I'm trying to double click on a new boff and pop her in the new ship. Should be easy enough. Open slot, spare boff, done it before.
Problem. I double click the new unassigned boff on the right side of the screen, message comes up. Message tells me I have no space left, on my runabout. Yes, the runabout. I don't have it selected. I'm not flying around space in a shuttle. Open slot on the starship, which I'm using. No space left, on a shuttle that has nothing to do with what I'm trying to acchieve.
I took everybody off of everything, still no space on shuttle. Can't get rid of the shuttle, or at least I don't know how to get rid of a store bought shuttle. Tried different ships, tried different places, tried switching back and forth from ship to ship. No room on runabout over and over and over again.
I swear I want to shoot these people.
