Locked on "patching"

I was dropped from the game (was about to get a new ranking, had just clicked to talk with the admiral) and when I tried to get back the launcher stopped at "patching". I closed the launcher, tried again. Same result. Tried again, same result. Clicking cancel produces no result as well.

So, any suggestions?
