Well, Abrams already has cast an actual Russian actor as Chekov, so an actual Francophone as Picard would be a definite possibility as well.
Yes but French is a dead language in the 24th century according to TNG so areal french accent is a Yorkshire accent apparently(It kind of makes sense with all the Brits buing up French property these days).
