N'iina of Romulus will go the FED way. Not because it is right in any way, but because of the convenience of access to FED equipment. The Empire is lost, the Tal Shiar and tenfold other enemies are knocking at the door. N'iina most reluctantly agrees with herself that seeking protection under the wings of the Federation might bring her some more leeway in moving about in her salvaged spacecraft, with a band of freedomfighters, smugglers, and half-crazed aliens.

that was when there was a united romulan empire and the typical romulan on the street was not concerned by the imperialistic nature of their government. and the reason why the romulans didnt join that war was because-
This is conjecture, as is your implication (with regards to In the Pale Moon Light) of Vreenak being the sole force at keeping the Romulans out of the Dominion War . Only a minority of Romulans represented in Star Trek have either been neutral or open to some level of "friendship" with the Federation. The rest....aren't. See the exchange between Dax and Sisko for more details.

is true there was an alliance between the klingons and romulans not too long ago, i dont know much of the details but it was between ToS and TNG where the breakdown happened as the last real act of an alliance between the sides, a deal was made for 3 D7 cruisers in exchange for the romulan cloaking device.
There were additional alliances. Star Trek VI and Redemption 1 and 2 demonstrate this.

you may want to go re watch every episode that has romulans in them from TNG to DS9 and see the hate and hostility between the 2 species every time them together see one another

this "Notice the primitive rage in his eye... the uncontrolled brutality. Klingons can be quite entertaining, don't you agree? I think every Romulan zoo should have a pair" come from a romulan talking to martok and also don't forget what the KDF did to romulans on the path to 2409 they would see you in slaved as soon as they could get the feds out the way

Since Romulan's can't be their own faction (at least for now....bwahahahahaha..),who do you plan to ally your Romulan and/or Reman with? I plan to have my Romulan side with KDF and my Reman go Starfleet. Hopefully, the devs will at some interesting dialogs for my Romulan choice. :D

This is a very good question. During open beta, I got to about level 40 and went with the Federation but I most likely will go with Klingon's this time. Though I have not seen what benefits come with it.

That would be the same Worf who hated Romulans so much due to his losing everything from the Khitomer Massacre, he refused to save one which COULD have resulted in a new Fed-Romulan conflict or war. And he didn't just refuse to anyone, he refused the man he respected and honored the most. THAT is how deep his hatred went.

But then he got over it. Funny how that Klingon did that.
you may want to go re watch every episode that has romulans in them from TNG to DS9 and see the hate and hostility between the 2 species every time them together see one another
I don't need to. I remember it all. Romulans don't feel much different about Feds. The only reason they even join them and the Klinks is because they are out for vengeance...y'know, the thing they tend to seek out when they feel they have been wronged? Vengeance - the very thing the Federation would never endorse? You may want to rewatch every episode that has Romulans in them so you can understand that their psychology tends to NOT be like that of the Feds.

this "Notice the primitive rage in his eye... the uncontrolled brutality. Klingons can be quite entertaining, don't you agree? Yeah, yeah, and there's The Enemy and The Defector, and yet you have House Duras working with them, Ambassador Kell, General Chang and:

"The blood of all Klingons has become water! Ever since the Federation Alliance, we have turned into a nation of mewling babies! The Romulans are strong; they are worthy allies! They do not turn Klingons into weaklings like you!" (hints at Worf)

    - J'Dan, admitting his guilt of the information smuggling to the Romulans

    The Drumhead

And then Worf, of course, just....letting go of aaaaaaall the years of deep-seeded hatred of the Romulans...OH! and then there was that colony of Romulans who lived with Khitomer survivor-prisoners.

    Yeah, anyways...

as the praetor of the Imperial High Guard and as a great man ones said "pawns go first"
You'll fit right in with the Fed faction then.

Im going KDF for 2 reasons

    1) I am already in a fleet/house in the KDF and will be returning

    2) I think a romulans best destiny is as an empire and if the romulans hope to be what they were or even better the klingon empire will remind of the glory and majesty of empire.

Once the empress kicks d'tan off new romulus and takes it as her capital and restores the RSE
then the young will know what it means to BE romulan.

Klingons are a violent species they dont give much credence to the subtlety of subterfuge
so we take what we need use what we must if a tool is there why not use it.

And i do enjoy watching klingons they would make great guard dogs if only they were able to be house broken...a pity

After looking through this thread it's made me even more convinced the Romulans should have been their own faction and not allied to either the Feds or KDF. Having Romulans sitting around a campfire singing kumbayah whilst hugging their former enemies just seems odd to me considering their prior attitude and actions towards what they consider their inferiors.

Hopefully Cryptic will allow an option for Romulan players to break from the other factions in the future, even with the destruction of the homeworlds there would still have been a large military and civilian population due to RSE bases spread all throughout Romulan space. Or even have D'tan eventually come to the realization that unification with the Vulcans is not the idealistic path he once thought it would be for the Romulan people.

KDF, you get the spoils of war and eyecandy plus better PVP, better consoles, better community (all the vets and PVP masters) and new content coming down the pike if you have not checked out the Dev blog.

    KDF is the fun side.

    Federation.......your no fun.

I was always a Maverick at heart and well i think the KDF and Romulans will give me a chance to be more ruthless, after all being on the KDF side gives you license since we are turned Romulans into almost Han Solo's overnight. Just because i'm an ally doesn't mean i don't want to kill Klingons too, i call them convenient allies till then give me a reason otherwise.

The Federation's peace TRIBBLE will only get you so far in the galaxy with Elachi, Hakeev and everything else. The Federation's attitude is live let live, well i beg to differ, i intend to be absolutely ruthless.

    I call it Romulans Unleashed.

The way I see it (personal opinion) the Romulan Empire always looked at all others as inferior. However, they also have always had a form of "respect" for the Federation they do not share towards the Klingons. I think the RSE always considered the Klingons as a tool to be used, hence the alliances when they needed, and easily broken. But the Federation has always been "friendly" to the RSE even though they knew very well that the romulans did whatever they wanted at a given time without caring much about "friends". Now, considering that the new republic is not the RSE, it seems to me it makes much more sense to go with the Federation rather than the Klingon Empire. So, my character will be allied to the Federation as I can not believe in an alliance with the Klingons ever again (except temporary, very specific situations).

Since it's required to ally with one or the other... it'll be Fed.

Far as I see, Klingons are nothing but glorified space pirates with a warped sense of honor. This is, of course, my personal opinion and my reasoning.

    Two words.

    PLASMONIC LEECH.

That **** is going to be vital with this -10 power to all subsystems nonsense. Plasmonic leech all the way!

I'll probably go Fed because I don't like the klink community all that much, not to mention all of my 'eggs' are already in the federation basket so there isn't any point to rolling a kdf one unless I intend to spend more money. (hint: I don't)

The fact that people are saying the KDF == better pvp is exactly why the FvK queues are empty and why people always say that PvP is a joke/is broken.

The amount of cheese I see from klink vs fed matches is astounding, for both sides.

One on each side. I already got one Fed-allied character to 50 on Tribble, so I'll probably recreate it first now I've a better idea of how their ships work at higher levels.

Fed seems to be a better fit story-wise (unless you plan on going full Nero :)), although I think the KDF might fit better purely from a gameplay standpoint.

    Neither.

I will be doing tholian reputation on my 3 characters. I refuse to continue to re-grind in memory if season 7 being old content I had to re-unlock - only to wait half a year with the omgea/maco/hg outfits being blocked because of a bug in the rep system.

Ironically, if we had old stf I'd have no problem earning drops.

Also looking forward to the flamethrower!
