My name is Marie, and I complain about everything.

In the future, in the months after Legacy of Romulus launches, warp cores will be obtainable by other methods as well, with some special Romulan duty officer assignments to build singularity cores, as well as a suite of cores being added to a Fleet store. Obtaining a desirable warp core should be no more difficult than obtaining a desirable deflector array or impulse engine.

Glad this was finally confirmed, but it's a shame it won't be for launch!

I'm really excited about this, great new mechanic IMO. Thanks for the news Brandon!

Some of the speeds have been confusing me. This is something I was going to test but the wipe/lock of character transfer prevented me from getting to it.

I guess my question is related to sector space travel.

Currently, if you want to actually get anywhere quickly you need to use the Borg engine.

Will the new engine/warp core combo's make the Borg engines obsolete or allow players to get similar speeds without it.

It also sounds like in the future we will not be going say Warp 18 but 10 will be the "max" regardless of how fast we are actually going.

What will effect our speed more. An engine or a warp core?

(also the ones I saw pre-wipe, I found the text on the cores a bit confusing. It was hard to figure out if you needed X or Y or if they were more or less the same)

While this is a welcomed new feature, I think the dilithium prices are a little too outlandish. 30,250 dilithium for one MK X warp core upgrade? Seriously?

Will there be a dilithium boost to the game's rewards, or will this be another all out grindfest?

I hope there is a typo in the screenshot.

Since the warp cores will require heavy grinding, I will not bother trying out the Romulan faction. I will focus my efforts on upgrading my Fed avatars. I do not want to be stretched too thin.

Giving the warp cores an activation ability makes singularity cores seem a little less individualistic then they were before, but whatever. Maybe a buff is in order for singularity cores power levels, since these will just widen the power differences?

The next and perhaps last unique addition should be computer cores.

Are mission and mission replay rewards going to be tweaked before launch to add warp core options?

I wish they would increase the daily amount you can refine. 8,000 is pretty easy but very little when the highest end stuff cost 45,000+ dilithium

The "ability" M/AM cores get is a built in battery-like boost to one subsystem. And I think you're forgetting that singularity cores already have a built in power boost to those who don't make use of singularity powers.

Completely unrelated note: hell yes for fleet (and eventually set) cores.

For me the warp cores are the most exciting thing comming LoR. I can't express enough how happy I am for finally having this new addition to STO! :)

And as others mentioned it, I'd love it if it's possible to craft some warp cores. I don't care how much resources they'd require, I'd just want to have the possibility of doing that. ;)

It'll be the one thing you craft with dilithium that actually makes sense to cost dilithium to craft.

Cool! More power boosting and resistance to subsystem disables and, by proxy, energy drains because that's really what STO needed.
If you feel Keel'el's effect is well designed, please, for your own safety, be very careful around shallow pools of water.

Yeah, I can see the 8,000 dilithium cap being a problem.

During the past few weeks, I bought a good amount of zen. Since I do not have a lot of time for grinding, I ended up buying the dilithium I needed. I also took sometime to beta test "Legacy of Romulus". Cryptic did an amazing job. "Legacy of Romulus" looks outstanding. My only problem is self-inflicted burnout. If it was not for the fact that I pushed hard, during my first year on STO, the game's grinding mechanics would not feel so daunting.

    grrr...

"special Romulan duty officer assignments to build singularity cores"

do we also get fed/kdf versions of it for Warpcores?

    what inputs are required?

duration / cooldown / location of the assignment (fixed?/random?/personal?/shareable?)?

wow so there going to give out unique singularity cores for fed and kdf so i have to ask is there anything special or unique about playiing a romulan if cryptic gives fed and kdf romulan singularity abillitys then whats the pont of even playing a romulan i wanted to play a romulan so bad now im starting to wonder if they have anything that fed and kdf dont have i mean we give away our wepens and other things to kdf and fed the only thing we have is our cloaking advantage hey fans why dont u ask cryptic to give u that too break the treety and give u everything then romulans can all go to one planet and the kdf and fed can destroy that planet from orbit and romulans will be no more i thought romulans were going to be unique and diffrent from the other factions and i was cool with haveing an alliance but it seems that everything cool about romulans just got abzorbed in to fed and kdf plus we have a decrease to our base power how is there even balance anymore the new warp cores give fed and kdf more power then ever how can we even go up against therm we r so weak and underpowered now please any other romulan fans that think im right help suport me on this one or romulans will not have a chance to even fight back!

No. Feds and KDF get special Warp Cores, not Singularity Cores. Warp Cores don't offer the types of Science Powers that the Roms get with their Singularity Cores. Warp Cores give stat bonuses.
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.

I like itemization and the specialization/customization that comes with it. I look forward to other bits of equipment that have been talked about, like armor plating, secondary deflector dishes, computer cores, etc.

    :)

    Thumbs up Cryptic!

You can find/contact me in game as @PatricianVetinari. Playing STO since Feb 2010.

DOFFs are "crafting". Why are some people so tied to archaic systems like combining a bunch of useless junk to make more useless junk. IMO they should scrape Memory Alpha and all crafting should be Doff based.

i dont disagree with you. But in a game where a Fed captain can fly a tholian ship using plasma weapons, i mean whats the real point in making anything "distinct".

I would love to seem MORE restrictions and this is the only game I can say I have ever thought that.

Like there should be no "alien" choice for Romulans for a laundry list of reasons.

I love these things. Make this }#%^ more severe. Anyone caught in a singularity explosion should suffer. Harder.anyone. Also allies. This way people would learn how to play not stupid. Tactics is what this game is missing.

    Cryptic. I love you!

I've been wondering if it possible to replace a Singularity core with a standard warp core?

I'm not interested in the Singularity abilities, since I disapprove of Rage mechanics.

So, if I wanted to remove the Singularity ability completely, would it possible to use a standard warp core instead of a Singularity core?

Or are Romulan ships restricted to only using Singularity cores and are not permitted to equip standard warp cores?
