Cant Change Costume on my Dreadnought

Hey All
Wonder if anyone can help, got a Jen'Hadar Dreadnought Carrier and for some reason every time I change the colour scheme of the ship from the default grey to the shiny purple I go into sector space and it hasnt changed from the grey?
Tried saving it, purchasing it, loading it.... nothing?
Suggestions anyone?
