Good idea, give all iconic ships all universal setup
\
or perhaps ALL ships should have the universal setup. then people couldnt complain. just make everything universal and it will all b good
*Me*Why don't you just step away from the weapons console. You and I both know that you couldn't hit that cube, even if it was right in front of us. *Junior Tactical Officer* But sir the cube IS right in front of us. *Me* EXACTLY! Its right in front of us and you still missed it! Just step away from the console.
Two mark IV blue RCS consoles and a mark vii green polyduranium is great for PVE.
3 DHCs and a torpedo front, 3 turrets rear, and its like a good battlecruiser with a nice turn rate.
I got my D'deridex with 3x nuetronium armour consoles use the cloak to turn but i like to rush in close hit hard pass through fire all afts weapons use warp jump cloak turn quickly return repeat....watch ships explode cloak move to next targets
I guess I need to be more specific as to what my complaint is. The turn rate issue is a pain, but that is not the part I really hate. What I really hate is not having access to hgiher tiered BOFFs skills for Tac and Sci Captains to use. Getting to lvl 30 and being able to break out the grav well, or the Attack Pattern of choice is the best part of leveling. I can ride out the turn rate issue while leveling (when I hit 50 I already plan ob buying a Fleet Mogai) but on the way there I would like to be able to play like a tac or sci, whether it;s in a whale or a mosquito matters much less than the BOFF skills.

Then use a Defiant or an Intrepid from your Starfleet ally. Level your 10 levels in that. And move on from that level band.
this is exactly what i said would happen from the beginning. the move from a 14 turn ship to a 5 turn ship being a shock to the system. its also the ship everyone been waiting to fly, and its completely horrid as soon as you try to go left or right for the first time. its even worse flying a ship that turns that bat with low level gear and a skill tree half filled out.
we dont need alternative leveling paths, we want to fly this ship, so make it beter, its what we want, and we spend money. a 9 turn rate on this ship is mandatory, not asking for anything the kdf's battlecruiser equivalent doesn't already have. nerf the hitpoints if you think thats necessary, this ship was not a tank in canon, its a huge ambush killer, not an attrition fighter.
Who is this "We"
I personally dislike the big cruiser like ships, even the ones that turn quickly.
I have been waiting for a Romulan faction so I can fly a Mogai.
The reason we need multiple lineups is because there's more than one playstyle, and it is impossible for a single ship to cover every single one of them at the same time. Even 2 lines will benefit most, but still not all styles.
damn... was just about to get mine when they did the patch. will have more to add.
I generally like the cruisers but agree with the boff/console issues. Big difference between flying a Bortas and an Oddessy as far as what you can and cant do.
In Live i feel like in forced into flying escorts.
I also probably have a differing opinion. So far I am not a huge fan of the Mogai. I know its an optical illussion but it feels like I have to turn a great deal more to line up for cannon shots. I know its because the ship is so wide and the hit box is the same but it plays havoc with my perspective and to me is a real pain when not alpha striking. Its probably theb ship I would be forced to end up with but it would by no means be my first choice
I fly a free Oddy on one of my chars, so yeah, I'm pretty used to flying things that turn like a whale. But D'D is one of the slowest turning ships in the game. I don't see that as being a huge issue, but I understand why some would.
I disagree with the idea that it should be as maneuverable as a battlecruiser. I don't remember seeing them turn quickly except in emergencies....
The problem is that is setup like a cruiser, after we complained about it being another Falaxy they put a Ensign Tactical station instead that changed nothing on the ship, the real D'Deridex (T5) have a Lt. Cmdr science station but the ship suffers from both abysmal turn rate and LOL science, its certainly no Chel Grett or Fleet Vor'cha in seating thats pretty much the ship problem at T4 and T5.
The Mogai is a better option at T4 because it can actually do whats supposed to do, it only suffers from being a T3 ship in basic stats.
d'deridex should never have been sub tier 4. the ent bop should have been tier 2, and everything else bumped by 1. mogai would be tier 4 then, and then you move to all the retrofits and can play as you want. you would have nice tac heavy, easy leveling ships till end game, and you can go in whatever play style direction you want at that point.
Now that our cloaks have been nerfed into oblivion I would have to agree, the D'Deridex is going to suffer terribly. But it is still my favorite Trek ship and I will still fly it....though I don't think I will ever decloak unless I know I will win....huh like a true Romulan I guess.
So now we need an Elder Scrolls mechanic built around doing things other than killing (because apparently there are other things you can do in video games after all), so I can gain experience for running away. ;-)

D'Deridex is... terrible. How can I explain this? I do not want a rebuilt Fed-like CRUISER. I despise many cruisers in particular, but this 'D'Deridex'? I'll buy a damned Galaxy-X and then send Cryptic a mail to DELETE THAT PURCHASE if it would make them rework it!
Engineering has it's place, as a support mechanism. Not as the end all, be all. If I remember correctly, Romulan warbirds are supposed to be tactical/science based, with engineering as a last backup. Damn sure won't be using the Legacy D'Deridex now.
I have it the other way, I will gladly buy Legacy pack if they fix my Galaxy :P
"Cryptic Studio’s Jack Emmert (2010): Microtransactions are the biggest bunch of nonsense. I like paying one fee and not worrying about it – like my cellphone. The world’s biggest MMO isn’t item based, even though the black market item GDP is bigger than Russia … microtransactions make me want to die.”
Welp, the D'deridex retrofit and fleet versions have fine boff layouts now(mirroring the Fleet Ambassador), except the loss of the tactical console makes them worthless and stupidly unbalanced towards engineering. I smell Geko's filthy escort-loving hand in this. If he had any sense, he'd use a 3/4/3 layout, not 2/5/3. Nobody needs that much engineering.
Cryptic, please start watching Al Rivera and overrulling his decisions. He's doing what he wants to do again, instead of what the playerbase wants him to do.
I don't mind the turn rate, I just wish it had more tac consoles. I want to kill my enemies rather than wait for them to die of old age.
I also wouldn't mind a more tac/sci oriented boff layout, but the current layout of the fleet version is acceptable (if we get more tac consoles!!!)
[SIGPIC]Join Date: August 2009[/SIGPIC] I live in an alternate universe, where j.j. abrams and cryptic never existed,
where R.S.E. is what it always should be.
Cryptic's Ship designer (Geko?) should be ashamed of ruining another iconic ship for the players. But they have been in total /ignore mode regarding the cruiser turn and gameplay matters for years already.

Well... it helps to have extra slots to stuff RCS accelerators into. :P
Infinite possibilities have implications that could not be completely understood if you turned this entire universe into a giant supercomputer.

Since this post the battlcloaks have been nerfed now i must say the D'deridex and ha'apax are nothing more then big giant targets that cannot outrun anyone cannot out turn anyone and cant cloak fast enough to escape.
I will now have to agree with the topic of this thread now that the cloaks are nerfed
Kirk eyes a young female romulan put on her EV suit then her head dissapears.
Kirk : My god bones...her head is gone
Mccoy : DAMNIT JIM!! im a doctor not a game developer
second off kind of like the d'd reminds me of my bortras dhc build on my klink toon, lol yes you need to adjust to way different style compared to an escort but sort of gives me a feel like a dumptruck behind a sports car feel "carefull or i'll just run over you and not notice" lol

If it wasnt for testing i would not be flying this monstrosity since the cloak nerf its hard to use the D'deridex or ha'apax i just got done with a 10 minute fight with a ...galaxy class becuase i couldnt turn fast enough to kill it.
And the cloak was so slow in CD that it wasnt even practicle to use and its a bad thing when a galaxy class is out turning you and you must rely solely on armor and aft weapons.
So now i have to say using the D'deridex or ha'apax is for those who like to be shot at and be a sitting duck those two ships fly like bathtubs and turn like them to.
Please Cryptic reverse the nerf if you dont then both the D'deridex and ha'apax are not even a viable option as a useable ship.

If the apparently-intended behavior is to use passes with cloak to turn and reacquire your target, why not mount a mine launcher?
