"Cryptic Game Launcher has stopped working" (RESOLVED!)

Looks like we're having issues with the loader, list your bugs here

I've personally had all the crashes everyone is talking about, and uber slow patch rates.

    Today I tried to enter the game, and as soon as I opened up the game launcher, I got a pop-up that says, "Cryptic Game Launcher has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available." I've tried two or three times this morning to get in, and it's the same every time. Please let me know what I can do to fix this problem.

    Just had this problem today, whenever I click on STO this happens...

    Try running the program as administrator.

    If you don't know how to do that, simply right click on the desktop icon, and select "run as administrator". :)

    If that doesn't work, I have a few other possible solutions but this is the easiest. :P Try it first.

    Hi Captains,

    We're investigating why the launcher is not loading. This seems to be affecting all Cryptic games.

    I directly launched the game client and logged in, but the connection timed out.

    EDIT: Oh NW when open beta today, wonder if the Cryptic servers are overloaded.
    My Romulan Liberated Borg character made it to Level 30 and beat the (old) Defense of New Romulus with the skill point bug. :D

    I know why, Neverwinter just launched and killed the Cryptic servers.

    The irony is, I'd like to play NW more right now, but wanted to play an hour or two of STO first to avoid the new game onslaught lag in NW. That plan worked out well...

    I'm now getting site down for maintenance, can't switch to Tribble because none of the server names are linked.

    Guess I should have stayed logged in to Tribble. I failed that plan.

    Exactly... The Neverwinter launch borked the log-in servers...

    Mine just sits on "Loading. Please wait." indefinitely now.

    EDIT: Reloading it several times did nothing, but closing Steam entirely and loading it again seems to have self corrected. Maybe it was a Steam issue.

    EDIT EDIT: Or not, as now the login screen is frozen up. Okay then.

    I hate when these problems just appear out of the blue. The launcher for me has appeared without picture where i can sign in but after i do so since there isn't a picture i can't "engage" and i've gotten the "loading... please wait"

    Similar issue here, though not exactly the same.

    For me, the launcher continues to function to a very limited degree:
    It says that Star Trek Online is down for maintenance, in 3 languages, but doesn't display the usual background pics and layout. The page is nearly entirely text based aside from the user name and password fields.

    I figure if STO was down for maintenance there'd be an announcement here on the forums.

    Opening up both the Tribble Client and Holodeck client launched teh game without issue, but I received a time out error trying to log in.

    again with the launcher problems? For Spock's sake...:cool:

    normally its a server problem but... http://www.mmoserverstatus.com/star_trek_online indicates that the servers are up and running.

    Meh that just says they are responding... doesnt mean they arent having issues.

    Just wanted to log in and I noticed the same thing, launcher won't load right.

    Phew, I thought it was my connection playing up. I hope you manage to resolve it soon!

    Hi, I am one of the Valor Rising Council Members (largest NWN beta guild) and our TS3 chat is showing that the Euorpeans are not experiencing the difficulty.

    So this is about the Cryptic US accounts. I think something glitched with the move of the forum servers i read about. Someone probably didnt realize they shared resources witht the accounts.

    i would suggest putting that project on hold and get the accounts back up asap :D

    Launching the game program directly works ,but loggin in to the account (holodeck & tribble) does not work.

    Connecting to the account server .............

    If your getting the page with the white box and in 3 languages just hit the box that says ready it will launch your game I am in right now :D

    "Fix": Wait for 3-4 mins. The launcher will present you with a message that says this:
    Line: 56
    Char: 1
    Error: 'jQuery' is undefined
    Code: 0
    URL: http://launcher.startrekonline.com/js/jquery.cookie.js

    Do you want to continue running scripts on this page?

    Answer yes, and proceed as you usually would. Just ignore the missing pics.

    Wait again

    Eventually the "Patch" button will appear... Wait a little... a few mins preferably...

    Then hit the "Patch" button (wich should at this point have been replaced by the "Engage" button, but isnt because they forgot to properly set their JavaScript code).

    If the game didn launch, you pressed to early... Press again, and wait a little longer.

    Worked for me. Took me 10 mins, but it works.
    Don't look silly... Don't call it the "Z-Store/Zen Store"...

    Launcher seems to be working again, it connects to the account server to determine if u have tribble or not

    I just logged into my new tribble captain ...
