At least if you go with the KDF has your ally you'll have access to the BOP @ T4 and will be able to set it up has you like without have to give up the Battle Cloak ;)
No you won't. Because apparently, you cannot spend your ship token to get an allied ship. So, you can pay a laughably stupid quantity of minerals for a ship that will last you about 2 hours, much of which will not consist of you actually leaving Spacedock at all, or you could just not bother getting any ship, really, because all of it gets thrown out when you get your REAL ship, instead of some Fisher-Price toy. You don't need a ship to doff.

Make smart use of Battle Cloak. Get all Romulan Boffs who each have the trait that reduces Cloak Cooldown. Why? Battle Cloak adds a huge (and I mean HUGE) bonus to turn rate (My Ha'apax was at turn 30 with 2 Mk 6 RCS consoles while cloaked).

Constant Cloaking will let you set up for cannon runs.

Where are cloak boffs coming from? Are the traits available to the mission reward boffs or the boff store on flotilla? Or are you talking about embassy store boffs?

any romulan boffs provide a boost to cloak, reduce the cooldown, and increase the damage coming out of cloak...these boffs are available to Fed and kdf...but there really isnt e areason to use them on either unless your flying a BoP (BC FTW lol)

Romulan characters get them in droves lol

Throw an RCS console and some dual heavy cannons and turrets on it, and PVE wise the Deridex will be quite nasty.

fyi, one of the mission rewards is hybrid dual heavy cannons. Those make for quite an interesting build. But I do miss the Mogai though.

Lost already in this discussion is the main point of my OP. It's not the turn rate issue that concerns me. It's the fact that captain from lvl 30-40 have no access to anything higher than Lt Lvl BOFF skills in Tac and Sci areas. Severely limits the ability to actually enjoy those careers.

I have to agree to the OP.

The fact that there is only one ship choice -the D'deridex at Commander level is a bit underwhelming. Sure, it looks good old Trek but for the game it limits gameplay experience quite a bit for at least 10 levels.

I am sure they will add more ships time after time but in the beginning it is really hard.
I played around with it and find it interesting to fly. It is really slow and forces you to throw in at least one RCS Console to turn at all. The "Cloak and Run" playstyle attached to Romulans could make up for lost BoFF configs but cannot make up for everything.

After long consideration my plan for LoR would be just to stay in my Mogai T3 and since I am plan on getting the Store version of it I won't mind that much.
For those who would love to fly the D'deridex go ahead and throw in some RCS and you can play decently.

This is what concerned me. There needs to be more ships, or at least different congis. if you have levelled up as an escort, which we all pretty much have then you are forced to take a d'deridex cruiser.

now fortunately its such an iconic ship that it will probably soften the blow but the only other option is to use a fed or kdf ship which is an option, but not an ideal one. i think at the very least there needs to be one escort option, even if its a tier 4 mogai.

You also have the option of playing the T'Valo Bird of Prey. D'Deridex is my favorite canon ship, but the T'Valo has the same slots as the D'DERIDEX but it has much better boff arrangements, turns on a dime and it has serious bite!

The D'ridthau? I really should pay more attention to the ship configurations when I log back on. :o

Do you think the D'ridithau has a D'Deridex skin for customization? I'm not thrilled with the stylings of the D'ridithau.

I'll never understand why Cryptic limits what boffs can be used in what boff station. The only real requirement should be a min of 1 tac/ 1 eng/ 1 medical/sci with all the boff stations being universal. It wouldn't throw the game out of balance or anything by doing this, it would simply add more diversity for gameplay.

But along with this goes the outrageously slow turn rates for the larger cruisers. Larger ship = larger thrusters to make up for the size difference. Not saying a cruiser should be as fast as an escort, but they shouldn't move like a beached whale either.

Romulans with the trait "Romulan Operative". You want to find ones with Superior Romulan Operative if you can.

It's still a little early to pass judgement, if it goes to live as it is then yes there is reason to complain, but I hope that we haven't seen all of the ships that will be available. Sure they are all called warbirds but there can't be any mistaking that there are clear definitions in the type of warbirds they are, it seems a bit too narrow a choice if players are only being offered bulkier cruiser variants of warbirds as they progress in rank and that is an issue the developers need to address. There is a whole line of ships that need to be added to satisfy the escort and science oriented players. Sure they are given access to their allies lower tier ships but that seems a cheap shortcut to providing Romulan designs to fill those roles.
If something is not broken, don't fix it, if it is broken, don't leave it broken.
    Oh Hell NO to ARC

Not all Romulan Boffs come with the Trait called Operative.

Most Romulans have the Trail called Subterfuge that increases your damage bonus and duration coming out of cloak but only some of them have Subterfuge and the Operative Trait that reduces the cool down on the cloak itself.

I've got a few Romulan Doffs that have different levels of the Operative Trait, one has just Operative and another has Superior Operative.

When this goes live many players are going to be torn between stacking the Efficient Boffs vs. stacking Boffs that have both the Subterfuge and the Operative trait.

But I say if you're going Romulan it's Subterfuge and the Operative trait all the way.
