So, I finally completed the Ground Cure Optional tonight... and I 'believe' that it was the last Optional I needed to complete before unlocking the "Type 3 Costume Project" in the Omega Store. I have the full MACO Mk XII Ground Set.
I was informed earlier on the forum that you don't need to complete the optional on "The Hive," but I'm beginning to think I was mistaken.
At least, I'm pretty sure I completed the Optional on all other STFs (Elite)... I play them often enough (sans The Cure Ground, and Manus).
Is this a bug? Is there a way to check if you've completed X STF Elite with Optional? Or do I have to go through them all? And was the person correct in regards to The Hive optionals? Because the Optionals for the Space Hive are... crazy...

I'm pretty sure you need to complete all the Elites' Optional. Don't hate me if I'm wrong, but that is what I'm getting from it.
I won't hate you... I mean, it says 'all,' and for all I know, it includes The Hive. Worst comes to work, I have another month of TRYING to get the optional of the Hive done...
Best case scenario, I only need to do something like Infected Ground or something... but we'll see...

You only need optionals from Cure space and ground, Infected space and ground and Khitomer Accords space and ground. You don't have to do The Hive at all. You are most likely missing the optional from Infected ground but you should be able to check it by looking at the M.A.C.O. Team Commander accolade.

Almost right, but not quite!
You do NOT need to get The Hive optionals, just Cure, Khitomer and Infected space AND ground optionals.
You will unlock the M.A.C.O Elite Commander accolade.
I did this a few days ago, I can vouch for the fact you don't need hive.
To check - Press J and head over to the accolade tab. Make sure "in progress" is checked, search for MACO Elite Commander and find out which optional you missed

Unlocks: "M.A.C.O. Elite Commander" title.
That's why I said to check the M.A.C.O. Team Commander accolade since it actually lists what elite optionals you have completed.
If you have all optionals and all MK XII set pieces, you might be experiencing the bug that blocks the optional outfit from the reputation tab.
We've been waiting for a fix since december
It happens if your armor is from before season 7 or some of your optionals are.
Only if you got everything under season 7 you should have no problems.
Or in other words, us who used to play a lot of ground lost access to the optional outfit in season 7 and people who never played got easy access - but, supposedly they are working on a fix. It took a long time before they'd say anything but "we can't reproduce it".
It is, in my opinion, the one with the tightest timing... pretty much the opposite of Infected Space.
However, even it is relatively simple if you are aware of the assimilation trigger lines, and work as a team to quickly take down the Borg. The optional requires you to be assertive but not hasty, and careful but not defensive. You're on the attack for the mission, act like it.
I take it it's difficult? >.< How is it compared to The Cure Ground? As hard? Worse?
It's a nightmare. In the end it was a very close call for me after countless tries. I managed to make the optional with a highly experienced team and just 2 seconds left on the timer. However this was before season 7 when everyone had to grind the ground STFs for the ground gear. Don't know if you can find many people these days who are willing to play them AND know exactly what to do.
If you cross the assimilation lines to soon, you can basically start over again. If the firepower of your team is too low, get a new one. You must be able to completely faceroll each Borg group in a matter of seconds, else you won't make it in time.
Go join the EliteSTF Channel and try to set up a team.

There's... an elite STF channel? O.o Where have I been to not know this.

It's not hard IF you have a team that knows what it's doing. Sadly hardly anyone runs it after they added the reputation system.

Split Beams help. You don't really want Knockback at all on Infected. Communication is key as well. My fleet took a while to figure it out, but we managed to beat it. As long as you at least kill the drones assimilating the redshirts in the last room, you'll get it. When I got it, I ran in like crazy and attacked the drones that were assimilating. Yea I died, but I killed them too and got the optional.
So...
+DPS -Knockback +Teamwork +Communication
Also concentrate fire on bigger targets like the heavies and elites. Those guys can slow you down big time.
I can't take it anymore! Could everyone just chill out for two seconds before something CRAZY happens again?!

Wonder how hard that one is... I haven't played it in a few months.

That's basically what it comes down to. Of course if you can make all 5 tactical it'd be that much easier.
