Gravity Wells not lasting full duration

The description on my Gravity Wells states it's supposed to last for 20 seconds. Not happening. As soon as the object with which the gravity well was originally targeted on dies, the Well dissipates. Why isn't it lasting the full duration as stated in the description?

You have abilities like Eject Warp Plasma which will stay in an area for the full duration regardless if anything is alive or dead.

    I've found that this happens to me at the Jopari system in the tau dewa block, for example, if I target a drone with the ability. What I figure is that the game doesn't detect an object there, because usually it dies when I use my GW, so it fails to spawn.
