What would you want if the level limit was riased by 10?
For me ...
More missions (about 6)
Reputation system, where you can send off your commander ranked officer to captain his own starship. You then can ask for it's assistance. (Possible coustomization of weapons and shields on thier ship)
NO tier 6 ships.
More PvEs and new reptuation event
A defera invasion space zone
What would the implecations be?
Hopefully I'll come back from my break; this break is fun; I play intellectual games.
What would you want if the level limit was riased by 10?
I have a feeling that this will come sooner than expected. There is already a traitslot on tribble in the revamped trait system which is to be unlocked at lvl 60.
We will probably get a rare chance for MK XIII gear to drop. This will reinitiate the grind for everything.
The first thing I would want is "the level cap not raised to 60".
The second thing would be, no Tier 6 ships. EVER.
Third, the ability to promote a BOFF to Captain and have him follow me around in one of my other ships, in command of it. Ideally this would work like they do on ground, where you'd have up to four of them, and when PCs joined your group boffs would leave. But, only in system space, please; in Sector Space, leave the boffs behind. Everybody in flotillas would be a disaster in Sector Space. It should also be done as an either/or deal; if you promote the BOFF, he's no longer available for Ground missions or to seat on your ship. You must make the choice. The ship, however, should remain usable by you; you're the Admiral, you can reassign that ship whenever you like!
Also, give us a new ship interior room; the Flag Bridge! Doesn't need much new functionality, just a fancy new bridge where your First Officer sits in the Captain's chair, and you have a special chair with a console that lets you do mission replay work; just like the existing ready room console, nothing fancy to start with.
While we're on the subject, let me put my unused, tradeable BOFFs in my bag freely (without resorting to "full slots" trickery" and put them freely in fleet banks, account banks, emails (with them coming into your bag, not into your slots) etc. Because the above would create huge reasons to want/need this.
Also, Tier 5 Connie. The fact I know it's out of Cryptic's hands entirely doesn't mean I can't mention I'd like it.

A. At least one, preferably two more mk levels of gear - with either mk XII becoming common and mk XIII becoming the new top end, or leapfrogging a bit forward so mk XIII is common and XIV is the new top (a full gear reset basically)
B. Some extension of the level 50 reputations, either adding the new mk levels to rewards or (preferrably) making them much easier to progress so they become side solo projects and focus is properly on new endgame content.
C. Some type of extendable equipment or progression system for ships, keeping the existing tier 5 as the top level of ships but expanding them in some way for the top ranks. I would actually make this system start at level 40, so each rank you gain beyond your first tier 5 ship adds some extension. Perhaps some adaptation or extension of the LoR trait system could fill this role.
I just DON'T want T6 ships. I don't think they will make them, but I wanted to have it stated again for the record. Here it is again just in case: NO T6 SHIPS!!
Isn't the Andorian ship pretty much a Tier 6 ship already? I mean it has more frontal weapon slots than every Tier 5 ship and already comes with 10 consoles, something most people only can get if they buy a fleet ship. I have a feeling that the Kumari is only the beginning.
It doesn't have more weapon slots, it just has them distributed in a way they never have been before, 5/2 instead of 4/3 for other escorts. It makes it more powerful for specific purposes, and it has some powerful consoles, but it still has the same itemization weight as other tier 5 10-console escorts.
We will probably get a rare chance for MK XIII gear to drop. This will reinitiate the grind for everything.
Yep, restarting a significant number of the grinds would be about the only reason for Cryptic to actually raise Character levels. I always wonder at the people asking for it though, clearly they have either not been playing MMOs long enough or don't quite get that extra levels by themselves are not a solution to a game's problems.
I'm not actually a fan of the level increase idea. I'm still a firm believer that we should all remain Captains at level 50 (it is the Captains that command the ships, not the Admirals). The Admiral rank should be reserved for fleet founders or something.
That, and I'm against what would be Mk XIV equipment; unless everyone who has had to grind for their Mk XII gear gets a completely free upgrade. Besides the fact, if they can go to Vice Admiral to Full Admiral (neither of which are needed) what's to stop them from adding level 70 at some point? God knows what the title would be, but the chance is always there and it's something I'd rather not see.
The Admiral Rank (if not reserved for fleets) should be an optional title for people that have completed a specific set of accolades and then choose that rank. I'd settle for Captain any day.
If they raise the level cap or not, I would like to see some new content that actually gives me something to do that's different. I think raising the level cap would be arbitrary except to devalue all the Mk XII equipment we have just ground out through reputation etc and if it was done like that. I don't think a lot of people would bother to grind it all again.
I for one am not comfortable with the idea of giving my Bridge Officers a ship of their own. I mean they aren't the sharpest knives in the drawer and they have been deeply traumatised by the Bajoran fire caves incident.
Having just joined the game recently, I would be extremely upset if all of the ships I just paid real money for were made completely obsolete by a new class of ships at level 60.

It makes it more powerful for specific purposes, and it has some powerful consoles, but it still has the same itemization weight as other tier 5 10-console escorts.
Its forward firing performance is dramatically improved, it IS a new tier of escort. Possibly the same way most consider the Vesta a new tier of sci vessel. If people could simply move a weapon slot on any escort forward do you think they wouldn't? Even at a cost?
What concerns me is WHY they felt a need to cram so much stuff into one ship? It has the requisite 3 consoles, animated wing cannons, AND the substantial DPS bump from having 5 forward weapons. They even released it way too early and buggy. There's no way they didn't know they were releasing an extra buggy product, so again.. why? What gap in their sales was it meant to cover?
I don't know why some people don't want the level cap raised. Maybe they are worried that all of their efforts of getting purple mark XII stuff will have been useless and that their current end level ships will be also made useless.
I agree that it would suck if all that was true so how about just give us the ability to upgrade what we already have and incorporate that into a level system and maybe integrate a starship rep system where we can upgrade and remake out current starships with new visual starship parts. My idea would include any starship from any tier.
I have always wanted to make my own starship from scratch but that probably won't happen in STO so why not give us the ability to take visual parts from the entire starship pool (faction restrictions apply ie: no mixing of Klingon parts and Fed parts), and allow us to finally fly the starships of our dreams? I certainly can see the difficulty with this like resizing nacelles from a nova class to fit the size of an Odyssey class.

All of the C-store bundle ships have 10 consoles, just like Fleet Ships and lockbox ships. That's why people refer to these ships as "Tier 5.5"
I don't know where you've been for the past year or so but this trend didn't start with the Kumari.
I understand people want to live their life long fantasy of being Captain Kirk, but For my KDF characters I don't want to be a Captain Kargan, I want to be General freaking Martok or General badass in Klingon academy Chang.

On the red side, obviously, we are not as lucky as the Feds when it comes to ship bundles ... and don't you dare mention the BortasQ. This ship is a worthless abomination.
Also I was refering to the combination of both 10 console slots AND 5 forward weapons which is not only a unique design but also pretty much the best escort layout this game has to offer currently in terms of DPS. Doesn't seem so far off to call it Tier 6.

The Tiers are best described by Boff layout since you don't always gain weapon slots as the tier progress, but you do always gain Boff seating. Thus, any ship useable at level 40+ is a T5 ship.

Strangely, there are several very active posts in the Klingon Shipyards forum in which certain posters insist that the Bort is the best ship in the game, bar none, and that any one who disagrees is basically an idiot.
So I would say that opinions vary, though personally I think the ship is some what lacking.

You can call it tier 10 if you want to, but all you're really saying is that it has a unique characteristic (5 forward weapons), which doesn't really qualify it as a new tier. The fleet B'rel has 10 consoles and improved battle cloak, which nothing else has. That makes it a very interesting ship, but not a new tier.
For what it's worth, I know a few people with the JHAS and Kumari, and they went back to flying the JHAS, so apparently they don't think the Kumari is the best escort in the game in spite of how cool it is to have 5 forward facing cannons.
In any case, what defines a tier in the game is the level needed to pilot something, not the relative power level.
For what it's worth, I know a few people with the JHAS and Kumari, and they went back to flying the JHAS, so apparently they don't think the Kumari is the best escort in the game in spite of its obvious firepower.
Kumari is the best PvE escort. The JHAS, due to its impressive turn rate, is the best PvP escort.
Horizontal progression, rather than vertical 'you now need to upgrade ALL THE THINGS to be the new most powerful'. 10-player STFs, multiple objectives, a rep system with interesting utility ability choices, where I can instead grind out mobs in DSEs if I wish, rather than be stuck behind 20 hour timers. Something to do with Deep Space. More costume options.
Because in PvP survival is difficult, while in PvE it is a no-brainer. And PvE enemies don't maneuver very quickly, if at all.
So you can fly the tactical Kumari and line up 5 DHCs and 5 tac consoles in PvE, but not in PvP.
It is still true that any ship that is good in PvP is fine in PvE, but the relative merits change.

i have never understood this logic. if a ship excels at pvp, it will own pve. i cant imagine how it could possibly be any other way.
No, it won't. Getting out of your opponent's Firing arc in PvP is crucial since PvP deals SOOO much more damage than any NPC. The Kumari is better in PvE (unless its no win, where you want an Escort/Destroyer than can field Gravity Well) because its too easy to tank and not die, and having the 4th/5th DHC makes the Kumari much better.
What you mean to say is than PvP skill sets will dominate PvE.
The first thing I would want is "the level cap not raised to 60".
The second thing would be, no Tier 6 ships. EVER.
I'll go with part of Syberghost's response. I would much rather start going horizontal and being able to use what I do have in much more varied missions and sectors.
Basically, I "don't want to let them promote me out of that chair because while I'm there, I can make a difference."
No more promotion parties. No more ranks. No more tiers of ships.

Raising the level cap and adding a new tier of ships would allow them to eliminate the antique Galaxy variations from endgame. It would be true win-win.

With the latest Dev Q&A (quoted here: http://sto-forum.perfectworld.com/sh...d.php?t=600271) it seems like our talented dev team is still looking to increase the cap for our characters. This is something I'm all for - I'd love to have an increase in our LEVELS giving us new and stronger abilities (akin to Picard becoming a better, more skillful and adaptable Captain during his tenure or Sisko being able to deal with increasing challenges and even leading small 'fleets' during his career as Captain).
But again, I strongly oppose an increase in the RANK cap for all the reasons I stated in my OP. STO should make the 'default' end-game rank Captain, not Admiral.
(But again, Admiral would still be achieveable for those people who want it - by actually leading a true fleet (as a guild leader).
