    I like it. It's pretty fun and doesn't take long, and it rewards some Dilithium. Given that this isn't an STF, I don't think it needs to be made harder or have an Elite version. After all, I don't see anyone moaning that Klingon Scout Force or SB24 needs to be harder/have an elite version.

    The one thing that does dissapoint me is the fact that I can't tell when i'm able to do a Shard run. To me, once per day means that if I did it at 11pm and got a shard, I should be able to do it again at 1am and get the shard for that day too. I assume it's on a cooldown timer, but it would be nice if you could patch the game so we could see it. No offense, I like the mission, but i'm not playing it back-to-back until the appointed hour comes around. I've got other PvE missions to grind.

    I have noticed that since this event was up and running that there is no Borg Processers been given out for Elite STF's, why? and there is only 480 Dilithium instead of 980 is this due to the launch of Crystalline Catastrophe? please can someone explain why :(

    I did not notice such a thing. You probably joined a normal STF by accident, those don't reward processors and only half the amount of dilithium.

    As people have stated the drops are highly forgettable *yawn* Once the event is over; the only time people will run it is to supplement EC for some reason by selling all the vendor trash. /shrugs imo either just give a flat EC payout or items that people might actually, I dunno, use?

    has the staff considered the implications of having an event rep system with no cancel on the tasks?

    CE is the first mission in there, they also said they plan on using it for the winter wonderland and who knows what else
    the CE shards are only dropping for a limited time during this event
    what if for whatever reason u dont complete the CE event, or dont complete some of the winter events and the missions are stuck in there?
    if they add a new task in there u are sunk

    this is another reason why all rep tasks, starbase tasks and embassy tasks need a cancel button
    we need the option of stopping tasks.... without the staff deciding they are gonna do it for us


    oh and again i emphasize.... STOP shooting the CE in absorption phase!

    10 days and still unable to patch, and 11 days ago the servers were so unstable I couldn't stay on more than 10 minutes at a time.

    Nice attempt at trying to buy player patience while STO gets overhauled, but what about us that have fallen victim to your server problems ? Any chance for a event extension or replay in the future ?

    One has to wonder what the hell was going on when the whole "dont add a cancel option" discussion was going on at Cryptic. Surely it cant be a simple matter of incompetence and lack of system design synergy. :(

    I do enjoy this STF and I'm glad they revamped it. However the problem I have with this one and SB24 is the placing system. The only way to get 1st place is to hop in a kitted out escort and do nothing but sit next to the Entity and straight DPS and then win the purple gear at the end. I decided for the Entity to follow the Dev Blog advice about the creatures vulnerabilities so while I'm not DPSing the thing I am hitting it with Energy Drains, Gravity Wells, Scramble Sensors, Tachyon Beams, and all the other useful science powers in the mission that help the TEAM win and survive. I don't think it's fair that I have never once ranked even 3rd because I decided to be a team player instead of just another DPSer.

    No thanks - my chances of getting first place are much higher with constant torp salvoes at range 9.9 where I can easily survive the bubble, and you have to spend time running back from the spawn point after it crushes you. ;)

    I'm sorry but I have to officially declare the CC mission a joke. People (including me) are just sitting at max range shooting lots of romulan plasma torpedoes at the entity. No challenge, no tactics, no failure condition.

    To be fair, that tactic works on everything in the game, people just didn't realize it until now.

    All they need to do to fix this is make a set of shards that circle at range 8-9. No more sit n' shoot. When the elite version goes live in a couple months, that would be the way to go.

    This is very true and why if you're in equally outfitted ships with everyone else, you have to keep shooting if you want to come in the top spots. I usually come in the top 3, and I do the same exact thing every time I play it. Warp in, goto full impulse, go around the Tholains, find a hole between them, like you say 9. something away, sit there and pew pew pew. No stopping. The blast usually takes care of the tholians, and lol the people that decided to stay too close. I just back up to beyond 10 away and then you take no damage from the explosion at all, then hit e and creep back to 9.9 or wherever you want.

    On a side note, I get my 14th shard tomorrow at around 8pm est.....YAY.

    You people are doing it wrong. Sitting at 9.9? No thanks.

    Fly in, sit at 4-5km and pewpew. Brace for impact, polarize hull, EPTS1 when the entity is about to send its shockwave, lose forward shields and 10-30% hull. Heal, keep pewpewing.
    Very occasionally full impulse away from a tholian and/or large shard.

    1st place every time. Don't sit at 9.9km your energy weapon damage will suck!

    EDIT: This is in an escort, not a tank. A few simple defensive buffs is more than adequate.

    People who started late!...

    Don't worry.. you are only missing the 1k fleet marks, 50k dilithum, and the 100 Fleet marks ( 120 if you have the boost) per day after you complete the 14, for doing it again!.

    teehee, so glad cryptic put that in, I like this little quick event.. and the extra marks that come from additional shards.. hope this STAYS in.

    Suppose we select the project in our events reputation and cannot complete it - are we then stuck with this project and unable to work on others or cancel it? Or will we still receive shards for completing the event per day?

    I'd like to know how this works. If it is similar to the station/embassy featured projects then we can continue to work on them so long as we selected the project prior to the deadline.

    As far as I've searched I can't find an official statement as to what will happen to those of us unable to complete the project by May 2.

    Loving the event but what if I and other pkayers don't collect enough shards it in time to get the bonus which we have already got over 64% on. Could the event be extended for atleast 6 more days to allow those loyal players to catch up on the shards.

    I just logged in to run this again and noticed that I can't get enough shards by May 2nd to complete the event. I have 9 shards. :( With only 3 more opportunities to earn it, I'm not going to bother.

    The task force itself is just too easy to be interesting.

    So I am forced to wonder.. If you get the event initially and you still get crystal shards, why couldn't they still allow the mission to continue past 5/2? Cant they allow the mission to go past 5/2 with minimal impact? I feel as long as you picked up the mission within the time it was available, just let them finish it and then move to the ones that give 100 Fleet marks... Let those who didn't pick it up at all deal, not those who have 10 shards into it already. I would point out that the embassy mission for holoprojectors is still showing up and it ended a long time ago. It still allows me to get it. So I am not sure if I should continue to bother or not.

    Could you please extend the finish date for the event? I'm pretty new to the game and did not start playing the Crystaline entity fleet action until about a week ago :( Due to work I'm unable to play as often as I would like and I have managed to collect about 7 shards so far & i am not going to have enough time to get the 14 x needed & I'm desperate for the Dilithium :(

    I'm sure there are a lot of other people in the same situation.

    But then, I *am* 13. So it was fate!!





    ahem...

    I do kinda feel shafted because it said "once per day", and frankly, on the last day (May 2) I will not be allowed to do it because I did my one on April 30th too late in the evening due to being stuck at work for a stupid "mandatory training." Sigh.

    I finished the first project with ease, and have done the second project several times, on my KDF character.

    My Fed character, however, was not yet level 50 when the event started, and now she has 13 shards. 13. Just one short of the prize for the first project. She won't be able to do the event again before shard maintenance. I don't see why the event cannot be extended; several players have requested this and extending it for another week wouldn't hurt anyone.

    While I'm at it, the 8k limit on refining dilithium per day could be increased to 10k, too (not just for this event), but that's a contention for another thread.

    Seriously, shutting the game down for maintenance 4 hrs before the Crystaline Entity shard event ends? Can anyone say poor management? Can anyone say "interdepartment memo"? Just another shining example of not well thought out programming/maintenance by Cryptic/Perfect World.

    The event was intended to end with maintenance... and that's what is happening.
    It's always been like this.

    I am one of the many who had 13 crystals last night, was going to run it one more time this morning to finish.

    I have no idea who in Cryptic thought it was good policy to advertise an event until 10am, then go into maint at 6am. You cant play during Maint, so the event is over then at 6am.

    They really should give us until the end of the day, but I know they arent likely to care much about how this makes them look to us.

    As stated in the blog about the event, it's scheduled to end at 10AM PDT, so you should be able to complete it once the server is back up, until that time. We should have it up in the next 20 minutes, leaving an hour and 15 minutes or so to still run it :)
