Seems like every time they update something, something else goes wrong. How's about backing up what's right, correcting what's wrong and combining them?

Right now, there's this weird little thing where you approach something you need to interact with and the interaction button flashed for an instant then goes away.

Glad I haven't spent any money on the game (this time 'round) or else I'd be really angry.

I don't normally respond to these threads, because they are just asking for trouble. But, I'll make an exception for this one.

Speaking from a programmer's perspective, the reason stuff like this happens is because of what is known in programming as a "regression glitch." Basically, this is whenever a piece of code, even if it remains completely unaltered, is affected by a change somewhere else. Code can be very unpredictable, especially once you have programs that are written by multiple coders and have numerous lines of code. The end result? Though one item may work independently of the rest of the program, something may go horribly wrong once synched up with the rest of the code for reasons that very few (if any) programmers can explain. Now then, finding the root of the problem is even harder, as regression glitches (usually) fit within the category of "logic errors," which are bugs that don't prevent a program from running, but do cause it to run in an unpredictable fashion. An example of a logic error would be running a calculator program, adding 1 and 1 together, and getting 3. At any rate, regression glitches happen. That is the brutal nature of patching. The best thing you can do when you encounter one is file a bug report with as much detail you can, and let the programmer take a look at what code was changed to see where the problem occured.

Sure but does that equal a permanent get out of jail for free card ?

In my case I've been waiting half a year on a fix for the t5 ground sets being blocked, so I can "save 60% time".

And it's as simple as adding a new reputation project or deleting or resetting 2 accolades. We know how it happens and exactly what is causing it. And keep in mind this is THE ground set in the game; the top reward which a whole season revolved around, STILL not working, AT ALL.

But because the specific line of code remains unknown we should just forget about it?

In those ~ 180 days I could have canooed across the atlantic ocean, which has been done in 78 days, and still have 102 days to fix the problem.

At which point, if any, would it be legit to ask for a fix for something ? 10 years down the line, 20 ?

Ummm...No offense, but that is not what I was referring to I was talking about bugs that are caused by a change somewhere else, ie something that did work previously stops working when something else is changed.

Also, what t5 ground set are you referring to? MACO? Omega? Jem'Hadar? Honor Guard? Details would be nice in helping to sort out what issue your having.

So go do it. Have fun.

ALL of the t5 ground set :D

And yes they did used to work then they CHANGED it in season 7 and here we are.

Sets remain entirely blocked for us people that have the bug. We know how to fix it, what makes it happen and how to reset it.

So I ask again, at which point, if any, is it okay to ask for a fix?

Or is it legit to say ah well "coding is tricky" and have a permanent green light to do whatever you want or, in this case, not do something?

First of all, to what I highlighted above:

    Then why haven't you?

Second, I never said it wasn't ok to ask for a fix. I said, and I quote:

file a bug report with as much detail you can, and let the programmer take a look at what code was changed to see where the problem occurred.

Which is the opposite of what you think I said. Third, you still haven't given much detail about how the sets are, as you say, blocked. What's your rep level? Do you have enough supplies to requisition them? Did you remember to click the "Collect now' button that appears when the project is done? Is your inventory full? Are you getting any popups that say something along the lines of "You may only have one of this item"? Are you selecting the correct project? Have you tried turning it off and on again?

Last one is an IT joke, but the rest are mere helpful hints. Once someone has the full details, then it's much easier for a programmer to be able to sort through his or her code to be able to find the problem.

Because I don't have any GM command privileges or work for the company.
I asked a GM to do it for me they said no.

If you are curios about the actual bug you can read the 4000 views thread that's been in here since january :D

Seems though you are mainly interested in hanging the users out to dry, i.e it's their own fault, it can't possibly be a developer made error and if so you have no right asking for any kind of support on any level.

I could have deleted my character and played through t5 6 times now in the time it took to them to reset 2 accolades for us you know. Or canooed over the atlantic and played through the reputation system roughly 3 times.

You might have a bias because you work with PCs yourself but laying it out like critisism is never legit "because coding is hard" is somewhat one-sided.

I am not without empathy though, I get it's probably boring to have to go through old code to fix something that should have working last year. Sure, I get that but that's the job you chose you know.
