Obviously they won't release a lock box until the revenue from offering the faction starts declining.

    That could be months.

Regardless, they will be come available and then Romulan uniquess is significantly eroded. The game will feel bland because the Feds I fight in pvp will have the same romulan cloak tech I have.

Klingon ships are out of bounds for the Federation, and Federation ships are out of bounds for the Klingons. Cryptic even mentioned this in this last interview as somethign they were proud of, so why are the Romulans treated differently? Their ships aren't exclusive to their faction if they follow through on their romulan lockbox plan, and the romulans themselves have full access to all ships of their ally. it's a double standard for sure and speaks volumes about how seriosuly Cryptic takes the legitimacy of the faction.

Not for long. The next step will be lock boxes with a small chance for KDF to gain fed ships and vise verse.

I am against Romulans flying Fed/KDF ships and Fed/KDF flying Romulan ships. Although, I would love to have a Romulan flying a Brel as it eas meant to be......as a Romulan ship. I wonder if I would be able to put a Romulan bridge on it....hmmm

Precisely why Cryptic should stop painting themselves into this corner.

Oh, give me a break. Dan has alluded to releasing Romulan lock box ships that will be available to all factions. If that's true, it's very likely that Feds will get Rom lock box ships with cloak. At that point, it will be pointless to roll a Romulan character.

In what universe getting a lock box ship is as easy as buying one from the c-store? I have bought most c-store ships but I only own a single Galor and a Jem'nought that I bought with EC.

ok...lockbox ships are understandable...but i will beangry if am forced to fly a FLEET variant of ships i PURCHASED off the c-store -_- if i want my romulan to fly my t4 escort (the sao Paulo) or my LRSVR I will want to...that is the reason i bought them is so i can use them across all characters of the same faction....even ALLIES -_-

However...that doesnt mean 99% of the time my romulan WILL be flying romulan ships...no matter how little selection there is....still would have loved to fly my atrox with a romulan though.

I would've thought it would be:

I don't care as long as the Federation gets more carriers and ships that can cloak!

sorry, but perfect sense?!^^... never...never federation or klinks would give their best equipment out to a faction, which not is part of their federation/empire.
they would help on their own with their best equipment, sure. but as long the rommies would not fully side with one faction, there's no way they would give ships to rommies.

lockbox ships, ok. they're harder to get and kinda rare in comparison to fleetships.
next is, that till now you not can fly a ship of the other faction!!! a fed not can fly a bop, a klink not can fly a galaxy!

let them ally, let them join fleets, but PLZ: only give rommies acces to rommy ships and gear outside rep and boxes. thx.

Romulans can only pilot special lockbox ships from their ally and fleet ships.

He never said only. He said they could fly ships from their allies, and explicitly mentioned fleet ships. Which now leaves me worried, though not certain, that they will not have any Romulan fleet ships ready by launch.
this means you aren't going to be seeing Romulans leveling up with federation ships.

    so stop crying you babies

The majority of players in this game are at end game. So why exactly do you think this is better?

I stopped reading through the developer blog just to come make some statement about this. I am disappointed. Romulans flying Federation/Klingon ships was something I could justify for the +1 console ships, it was something I feared could be necessary for other leveling ships, but if the Fleet Defiant ends up being the definitive cloaking escort of the majority of Romulans, this will be a pretty big blow to faction flavor.

I'd much rather fly a 7-weapon Vesta with integral cloak and Romulan Plasma Aux DHCs (at least that's what I think the D'Dex is.)

"Last Engage! Magical Girl Origami-san" is in print! Now with three times more rainbows.

Support the "Armored Unicorn" vehicle initiative today!

Thanks for Harajuku. Now let's get a real "Magical Girl" costume!

And where did those ships/technology go the following week? I don't recall Sisko tooling around in his Jem'Hadar bug every week... nor do I remember Kirk substituting the Enterprise for his BoP.

    1) The Jem'Hadar bugship was handed over to Starfleet, who fixed it up and sent Sisko on a mission behind enemy lines in a later episode, where it was promptly destroyed (why Sisko didn't just hit F to respawn we'll never know)

    2) Kirk used the BoP instead of the Enterprise for all of Star Trek IV! Of course he ditched it when the new Enterprise was built - after all, haven't we all upgraded our ships for a newer model at some point?

As for the others: The Romulan/Klingon alliance broke up, so they stopped using the shared ships when they became obsolete, the Klingons kept their cloaking technology all throughout the later series, the Defiant kept its cloaking device until it was destroyed at the second battle of Chin'Toka, Kirk's captured cloaking device was handed over to Starfleet who did nothing with it because of the later agreement with the Romulans not to develop cloaking technology, the Ferengi who bought the birds of prey weren't in other episodes that I'm aware of (perhaps they went on to have magical adventures - or got blown up, can't remember), and Gul Dukat's Bird of Prey was either handed over to the Dominion when he joined them or kept in his space dock along with his level one light cruiser and 1,000 day member Captain's Yacht.

I am deeply, deeply ashamed of myself for this post.
