Its time people, we have to face the truth that Cryptic's well has dried up in regards to pure canon Federation vessels and designs.
What do you feel in expanding the Federation, Klingon, Romulan starship fleets with original works from the Cryptic design team?
Will they allow another design a starship contest for all three Factions? It would be wise for them to do so.
I would love to see fan art designs for new Romulan warships, Klingon starships, and Fan design contest for Federation Escorts, Cruisers, science vessels, and even for an official Federation Carrier.
I would like to see design contests for all that I have mentioned.
While we're on about design contest, this also includes uniform designs - I know there are alot of talented individuals with graphic art skills and Fashion designers
Lets see that Talent

They can finish texturing it for me
Awoken Dead
Now shaddup about the queues, it's a BUG
The only reason they had one before was because it was for an iconic ship. Which is why it was called the "Design the next Enterprise" contest.
Pretty sure Cryptic is more than capable of creating their own ships unique to this game (which they have been doing for quite some time). And I do believe they've stated many times that they can't accept fan designs under normal conditions.
If you wanna design ships for STO and actually have them used in-game, why not apply for a position at Cryptic Studios?

If you wish to follow Canon, there are literally over 200 different vessels starfleet has created.
Over 226 different klingon vessels, from attack wings (such as the To'Duj) to birds of prey, to battle cruisers, to science ships (yes, Klingons had science ships) etc.
Over 83 Romulan Vessels.
17 Gorn ships
19 Naussican ships.
5 Caition ships
12 Andorian ships.
6 Vulcan ships.
14 Cardassian ships
4 Ferengi ships.
They are nowhere near being close to being a out of canon ships. If you wish to include all novels ever made, all comics, TOS, TNG, DS9, Voyager, Enterprise, All the past Star Trek Games, etc. You can easily factor in more than 3,000 ships at the MINIMUM that could be put into the game, just sticking the triade of Romulan, Klingon, and Federation.
In the Dominion War in the series of DS9, in a single scene alone, they had more than 86 different starships present. all federation. When they mixed the fleet of fed and klingon, klingon side shows at least 40 different ships, hit the pause button and count each and every single ship that is different from the others. all the ships that don' tmatch another ship, etc.
And then you still have Hirogen ships we can look into, (they would fit greatly for the KDF playstyle/RP) etc. etc. it's literally almost limitless what they can get into.
THroughout the series of the war against the Klingons, and the Dominion, literally count each ship you see that's different. Seriously.... And that's not going into the ships shown in Voyager at Earth Space Dock, and when they get back to the Alpha Quadrant.
Watch on Netflix
Pause
Look again
They are there.
- Damn the torpedos! Full speed ahead!
We've only got about 5 on screen starship hull types left to go (and those 5 are mostly the one off hulks we saw in The Best of Both Worlds graveyard).
Not that one single scene, I'm talking all the fleet scenes.
No offense, but the well is far from dry with Federation canonical ships.
Sure they put in all the popular ones, but there is still literally dozens of the kitbashes that still need to be added. Sure many of them are hideous, but they are canon and shouldn't be ignored for the sake of aesthetics.
Besides, not like Cryptic couldn't make a second skin and made them look better as refits.
And with Klingon ships, they still have yet to added the K'Vort, the 22nd Century BoP, the D5, (The D4 technically is in as the Koro'Tinga but ), canonical Toron shuttlepod (not the old or new STO Torons), and the Negh'var varient from All Good Things (officially known as the VoD'legh, but Cryptic used that name for the Vo'Quv skin.)
Cryptic has been using some of the DTNE entries for some new ships (like the Chimera) or bits and pieces of the entries for their canonical designs. Wouldn't hurt if they opened the doors sometimes to let inspriation flow.
I for one have offered many of My Designs. Which some tell me are interesting.
List of federation starships seen from TOS, thru Enterprise:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Starfleet_starships_ordered_by_class
Can't get a good list of klingon ships, because they are all fragmented....
But this is a BoP that would be awesome to have in game.

From ST Enterprise epsiode the expanse.
That's false, no ships from the books are on that list, or else it'd have the Riker, Errands, Star Cluster, Owens, Broadway, and Hewitt Class starships.
And btw, here's some ships in this vid not listed on your memory alpha list. (which is an STO fansite, BTW)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OHrCgz8uebU Those are just SOME of the ships found in the fight at wolf 359
But yet, the ship captained by Ezri Dax is in this game......... And you have an issue with the list? And also, I resend my last statement, there are a couple from the novels.
You made the claim there are hundreds of canon ships. That claim is false.
There are hundreds of canon ships, novels are canon. If you read them, you'd know that DS9 was showing paralel with the novels, picking up from where novels left off (section 31 seeking a new recruit, after book was released, they released the episode of them trying to recruit Dr. Brashir, etc. ) throughout the books and television shows, majority of them are intertwined.
And as far as licenses, Cryptic is completely covered already. THey dont' need anything special, when they already have it. The Vesta was released because they thought it time to release it.
I'm obviously talking to someone who's never read the books at all.
I'll let you figure out which 3 are not on your mem alpha list.
Indeed, Memory Alpha maybe is a fansite, but it's so in-depth and accurate that even the production staff of Enterprise used it for reference. Even the website's creator - Jorg, got a guest spot on Enterprise and is close with Doug Drexler and Mike Okuda.
So while it's a fansite to people, for Star Trek fans, its an official website.
And the Brutal Battle at Kivell IV, (where the Reman's were sent in as shock troops to pave the way for the main ground assault in taking back the planet, and was the first time the Reman's were ever mentioned in Canon which lead several novels just about the Remans and the actions in the dominion war, which inspired Star Trek Nemesis)
botht he Odyssey, and the Bortas, are from the novels.
The Ushaan, and Zephyre, are also from the novels.
EDIT: Also, No Ushaan class shows up in any Novel (From Memory Beta, the collection of soft and non Star Trek canon)
In name, and discription, (novels don't have photos) the Oddyssey and Bortas are both from the novels.
The Bortasqu' is not from tne novels, the Bortas however, is.
