Though I am a veteran, I am not sure what you mean by "Veteran Boffs." Are liberated borg bridge officers tradeable, and can I keep claiming them and giving them away?
Veteran bridge officers were rewarded to players after Season 5 when the jump to Dilithium currency was implemented. If the conversion rate from marks, tokens, etc royally screwed you over in terms of time invested into the game at that point, you got veteran bridge officers as compensation.

What's so great about them? (I must have a few, I just can't remember off-hand.)

Ahh, yes, Space Warfare Specialist. I only have 2 of these beauties.
When the great mark - dilithium consolidation happened, you got one on each character that had more than x million dilithium after converting.

That helps me understand why these are so popular. I have one Fed female Engineer, never commissioned. I haven't decided if I am willing to part with her yet but the offer of a Jem'Hadar Attack Ship is kind of tempting.
What are veteran boffs? I never seen em, where can i buy.
Do they come with a hair brush?
plz thx
No... You can't buy it...
It's the "I got royally screwed by Cryptic and PWE and all I got was this lousy T-Shirt" so-called "Reward" for those of us who who lost out, BIG TIME, on the Marks->Dilithium conversion back when the game launched Season 5.
If you wan't one, You need to put a good trade on the table, like the OP... Cause we tend to hold onto thoose officers.
Don't look silly... Don't call it the "Z-Store/Zen Store"...

I only need a single engineer now. But the bugship is more valuable. If you want to trade the bug for the engineer you'd have to pay some EC on top of it. Or we could figure out some other form of payment.
I actually have someone willing to sell me another sci, but I already have two. If you'd be willing to trade your eng boff for one of my sci boffs I'd be grateful.

The bugship is a Lock-box / C-Store item.
C-Store items is something I am very unlikely to touch.
Lock-box items is something where, given the choice, I'd rather have a kick in the nuts, before I get it. You'd have to give me the ship, pay me 1,000,000,000 EC and 500K Dil before I would accept it from you, and even then you wouldn get my officer (Just to paint a picture of how much I do not want a Lock-box item).
Don't look silly... Don't call it the "Z-Store/Zen Store"...
5 of these Boffs on a single ship? I imagine Cryptic did not anticipate that.

Sorry about missing your /tell's earlier, hurley. My account usually is logged in on my phone. I have offered to give the Vet Engineer BO to a friend of mine. If they don't happen to want it, I'm still not entirely sure if I want to part with it. I have plenty of Sci officers but Engineers are always on my list of BO's I usually need. That's actually why I had chosen that BO way back then.

Yup. they also only informed us that they were doing it the night before it happened. They had an emblem event the month before. Most people looked at the conversion rate and felt they would get more out of it by acquiring items to sell. Then hours before the cutover they shoed this over powered boff. Most people got screwed.

Yea... I remember the stunt StormShade pulled on that one... "Best to spend your emblems before Season 5"...
Then
Borticus (I think it was): Guys, great news: I convinced them to give you this reward if you have a ton of emblems.

stacking BOFF for passives has diminishing returns. if I recall correctly, it's an additional 50% reduction with each additional BOFF of the same passive, so the vet stacking of 5 would be be 5% + 2.5% + 1.25% + and so on...

Oh? I've never seen any sign of that. It certainly isn't true for the 'efficient' trait or the 'leadership' trait.

Ho would you know if you have one to claim, is it just from the BOFF supplier on ESD? I was playing from 2010 but was not aware of this trait, I don't think I ever claimed any officers except the Android.
Yeah, go to the store ('Requisition Officers') and poke around - I thin it is under 'Special Officers'.
Also, to claim one you need a 'Vet Officer Requisition Form', so you can check your bank and inventory.

I have 9 Vet boffs on 2 of my toons, they do not have diminishing returns.
Having that said the increase you gain is minimal at best. 0.8% Acc/Bonus defense x5 and +5 to weap/torp specialization x5 (Skill tree added)
thats like 0.5% Extra CrtH and 6-7% severity or so
Ur better off with all of the rommy boffs these days. Just my opinion.

Would he take a vet sci instead?

You're talking Fed right, and not Klink?
I never really play fed side anymore, anyway.....
On an alt account I may also have a Vet Engie if it wasn't already traded over to my Tac.
But I gotta wait to get my PW for that account.
