Normally I wouldn't fire on other Romulan ships... but they stand in the way of my inevitable rise to power, so they must be sacrificed for the greater good.
Sure i would!
And i do not give a damn sh*t about a IRW or RRW prefix.
Beta, LTA, CE, Multiple preorder Versions, all Addon Packs except AoY, nearly all KDF/Rom and ~50% of all Fedships, over 25 LockboxShips, Endurer of Atari's "Year of Hell", but...
But perhaps if part of a story arc of missions to find out one my bridge crew or some other ally defects to the other side, I might feel a twinge of immersion-sadness.
If I run into a Reman then yes I will open fire. However if I bump into another Romulan I will cloak and not engage, no matter how much it pisses of my teammates.
It's been decided that at end-game level, a player on the Romulan faction, must choose to permanently ally themselves to one of the existing factions.
If I find myself in PvP I will definitely have no qualms firing on a Klingon or Federation ship, but I have no interest in fighting my own people. Will you fire on a Romulan ship?
As said above, there is no role-play in PvP.
But if you are a roleplayer, just remember this is a "war game", nobody really gets killed. So blast away!
even me a romulan bro ? :P that ok if I see you I will just cloak and hide and wait for the time to kill them KDF but keep in mind I will not fire on you even tho you may on me
if any thing then cryptic forced us to be traitors
What traitors? You're going to be firing on Tal Shiar Roms all the time. Even if you weren't allied with the Feds or KDF you'd still be shooting at Romulans.
And as I've said before, what happens in PvP has no bearing on role-playing. PvP encounters are entirely separate from the rest of the game.
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.
But if you are a roleplayer, just remember this is a "war game", nobody really gets killed. So blast away!
Technically it's all an online simulation, but in game immersion it's not all war games. FvF and KvK in capture the flag is a wargame. The KvK house of Duras is civil war/blood feud. Ker'rat and other resource war maps are not wargames, they are fed vs. KDF warring. The roles are set by the PvP mission queue. With the aromulans, the same is technically true, but since we'll have no option to stand together and fight the other two factions to protect our own interests, there is a unique situation and a first precedent never seen in the STO PvP system.
And to the smallest degree, there are already some signs that its causing some tension between would be Romulan players. I have a friend who will join his KDF fleet. I belong to an established fed fleet and that's where I'll be latching my toon.
I started this thread to get an idea of how this will play out in PvP queues I'm holding my reservations, concerns and speculations about the general implementation of the Romulan faction, but you can see how there might be some things that still might need ironing out.

don't beleave me go look it up on fed side
Either way you're shooting at Romulans - whether they're Tal Roms, Fed Roms, or KDF Roms.

because why????? ...........cryptic and there bad story telling
I have seen every episode of every Star Trek series at least 20 times. I'm not kidding here. I would say at least 50% of the episodes I have watched I would consider "bad story telling." That never stopped me from watching them - and Cryptics bad stories don't seem to keep you away either.

No. This is the point where you understand that opinions are subjective. You like yellow, I like orange. We are two different people with two different subjective opinions. No one can be right in that instance. The Cryptic stories you consider "bad" others consider good. Subjective opinion.

don't make it out like im the only one here that thinks they are bad.......
romulan take help from fed kdf bad story telling The Tal Shiar now the bad guys of there own ppl bad story telling
oh ya lets not forget cryptic has the fed and kdf fighting every one in the milky way feds have 8 species they are at war or fighting with bad story telling and really surrounded by all sides
a war with the kdf and fed at a stand still for 3 years
Without hesitation I will hold any Romulans who chose to commit the heinous act of treason by joining 'insert faction here' when it is in the best interest of the Romulan people to temporarily ally ourselves with the 'insert faction here' until the time is right for us to 'insert plot device here' and claim our 'insert goal here'.
"The meaning of victory is not to merely defeat your enemy but to destroy him, to completely eradicate him from living memory, to leave no remnant of his endeavours, to crush utterly his achievement and remove from all record his every trace of existence. From that defeat no enemy can ever recover. That is the meaning of victory."
-Lord Commander Solar Macharius
They should really make Romulans of both factions be friendly to
each other (non-hostile) in PvP. But anyway, honestly, if I ever do
get around to doing PvP by then, I'll just give them the old WoW
unofficial rule for druid meets druid in PvP: ignore them unless they
fire on you twice. First being allowed in case of misfire/wrong target.

Try to absorb this into your mind. There are supposedly 2 million people playing STO. Less that 1/10 of 1% of those people post on the forum. You could get 10,000 people on this forum to agree with you and it still would only be 0.5% of the total player-base agreeing.
Yes, there are lots of people who hate the STO story. There are lots of people who hate the look of some ships. There are lots of people who hate lots of different things, but that doesn't mean they are the majority of people or that they speak for everyone on the forum, let alone in the whole game.

Sure. But only taken on the understanding that it is a treason of incidence and not one of deliberate volition.

Well, they were involved in the destruction of their own home world. If I was a Romulan, I'd probably be pissed with them too.
